What does she mean, privacy? Nobody's asking her to name the school or her students, just talk about what she does day-to-day. Her reluctance tells me it's not much (not to undermine the work of teaching assistants, just Ruby).

Also lol at her being like "I won't tell you anything about it but I totally recommend that YOU do it without knowing anything about you or your attributes".
She does this, slightly opens a door to something interesting and then slams it shut. Like in the autumn when she went to Amherst. Someone commented on an Emily Dickinson blog asking what it is about Dickinson that speaks so spiritually to Ruby, Ruby replied that it was too personal to share online. I get that she doesn't want to share everything, fine, but why bother replying at all? She doesn't engage with many of her comments as it is. It just seems like teasing.

Confession time: if I’m reading a book that I can’t put down, I do walk around my house reading as I lock up and brush my teeth etc before climbing into bed. Because I simply cannot put the book down and want to know what happens! Not for performative, look at me I’m such an avid book reader, superior reasons. But then I don’t spend my life lying and it’s because I have a job and adult life stuff that means the times I get to read are very precious!

She was so rough banging things against the glass and then hurriedly stirring the (fragile) glass straw around the ice cubes. I wouldn't be surprised if her straw shatters in the drink, one day. She's very heavy handed with things.
Literally tho. A couple of times I actually jumped. She bashes her tit around so disrespectfully. When she was making that weird cold brew thing, the shaking of the almond milk rattled me, then she went and bloody smashed the ceramic mug against the glass. She needs to sort out her sound set-up because with headphones on, that was the soundscape of hell.

She's a Youtuber who does vlogs, she shares absolutely everything about her life, you can easily find out where she lives and where she went to school online, but suddenly describing her job is too personal for her?
Whenever she thinks something will make people think less of her then suddenly it's too personal to share. Unfortunately it seems to me she's self-conscious about the wrong things lol.

After the cut, she's smiling nervously, like someone on a reality TV show trying to summon the courage to down a shot of liquified donkey fool to win a jungle challenge.
Err...I loved the recap, but this was too soon after frostbite pen. 🥶🍆

The only reason she finds working with school kids rewarding is because she thinks it’s better than an adult conversation. She can act like a role model to a bunch of tweens but she’s nothing special from the perspective of a healthy functioning adult. She thrives speaking about her childhood and engaging in childish activities. She loves being able to play in her fantasy world before she quits the job to pursue her masters.

I think we might actually see her downfall during her masters, whatever uni she goes to. They’ll probably be a good chunk of older/mature students who have had a lot more worldly experience than her and probably produced legitimate, good books. Her amateur work will severely lack in comparison, she’ll really need to buckle up if she wants even a sprinkle of academic validation.

I think it's just the fact that she was a shut-in for a large part of her life lol, Ruby probably thinks she relates to her considering until recently she barely left the family manor.

If she does get into Oxford she's definitely going to crack under pressure and she won't get any validation for giving professors and faculty Christmas cards or sending constant emails. She has a lot of growing up to do though and I think going through that would thrust her into the real world and make her rethink academia as her identity.

I was genuinely interested to watch this video because I was really curious to hear her talk about her job, see her go to work etc. but it was literally the same video she's done dozens of time before.

I'm wondering if she thinks most of her view counts are first-time viewers? Because I already know she reads while brushing her teeth, and I know she "just got into coffee" because I watched the video last year (and every subsequent one she's mentioned it in).

If she thinks most of her view counts are first-time viewers, she’s even stupider than we give her credit for 😂 Her follower count has been stagnating for a year or two now.

Roobee’s ”what I got for my 21st birthday” video just came up (very random I know 👀) and in the beginning, she says ”this year I saw more than ever how well my family knows me” NO tit ROOBLOCK, YOU’VE ONLY SPENT 21 YEARS WITH THEM AND NEVER EVER LEFT THE HOUSE ☠

Yeah this. I think its going to be very difficult for her. Especially if Oxford rejects her Masters application. I worked and did my Masters, but it was Masters by course work and the modules of the course work were very much in line with the field I work in. I think English lit is solely Masters by thesis. Not sure tho, I did my Masters in an Australian university.

it actually infuriates me that Ruby doesn't know how to use a double wick candle.
I mean, she barely knows how to use a single wick candle.

Always using unscented candles in brightly lit rooms, struggling to light them, struggling to blow them out even though she has a candle snuffer in arms reach...

She shouldn't be trusted near fire when she's so indescribably stupid.

someone should Ruby send an electric lighter. They are really good and easy to use (but I doubt she can light a candle with that outside in the wind, too).

btw. I'm currently trying to edit a video. As you know, I'm applying for jobs at the moment and one application said that they want to have a video cover letter. I filmed myself with my iPhone and now I'm trying to cut the video because I made some mistakes while speaking. So I want to cut bits (I made sure to make pauses when I recognised my mistakes so I can cut and stich this together). I use Final Cut (I bought it for my father with my student discount and I never use it, but I thought the video cover letter would be a good thing to try video editing again. You know, for when I'm becoming a famous youtuber) and I feel a bit overwhelmed. I'm not bad at computer stuff, but cutting/editing a video is ... difficult?! I see why Ruby is so sloppy with her editing.

As someone who works professionally in a media related field, I can say: Yes, it can be technically and also creatively challenging to do some good editing work, but so many of the mistakes Ruby makes are due to pure laziness and carelessness. Sometimes you get the feeling that she doesn't even rewatch certain scenes to check if the editing works or if there's changes to make. That's because she expects herself to deliver excellent work right away which doesn't need corrections. A lot of these mistakes could easily be corrected, even by someone who's relatively new to this, and in case it doesn't work there's plenty of tutorials on YouTube, to the point where you can learn 3D animation.

Yeah, if you're putting effort in and trying to inject care and creativity, editing can be tough and time-consuming, but I've never seen any evidence that Ruby puts any effort into the editing process. She sticks with the most basic techniques and still manages to duck her videos up in a dozen different ways and she only has laziness to blame. After 7+ years, she should've gotten better with practice even if by accident, but she's as bad as ever.

It's not hard to make sure you're not inserting a hard cut mid-word. It's not hard to do a second take when you're intentionally filming something for a video and you mess something up or there's loud, distracting background noise. It's not hard to adjust volume levels to make sure music isn't drowning out narration. But it would require paying a tiny amount of attention or double-checking the edited video before exporting and uploading, but Ruby simply cannot be bothered and thinks she shouldn't have to.

It's the same as when she moaned that editing writing is "mindless" - she doesn't understand that it's a vital part of the creative process that requires attention and is how people improve, because she thinks it's beneath her and she has nothing to improve on.

And funnily enough, from the comments of her latest video:

This must be the 100th time someone's pointed something like this out, but she'll never change.

Her videography skills have improved a lot though. That doesn't mean that they're good, but do you remember the framings she used to choose in her old videos where she stands in front of that white wall in her room with the poster on it? Now at least the angles aren't tilted anymore and she doesn't show more of the wall than of herself in her videos

Some highlights from Ruby's Goodreads friends:
- she follows this Christian girl probably offering books free of adult-themes Ruby loves to gloss over

- At least Blakeney doesn't fall into the trap of filling her profile with things she didn't read:

Boring new video with the same rubbish...weird shots of her and the cluttered house/garden (the dead plants  ), spilling and dropping things, failing to light candles, being super rough with her hair/face, undeclared ads, ED baiting (her gross, tiny, breakfast) and audio that cuts off mid sentence.

She makes such little effort with consistency. She said she filmed across several days but she made no effort to keep her lighting or fake freckles consistent.

Also amazing to me that she manages to hide the brand of her toothpaste but fails on every account to declare any of the partnered/gifted products she shows off.

And the "please" to Google seems SO performative to me. People have commented on this before being like "Roobs ur so polite/well-spoken" and think she's just playing on it in her fake Hermione voice!
