And I will say to be fair - she cut the sentence off half way because its a thing people do in tiktoks and shorts. You end the video on a cut off sentence that loops and joins to the one at the start (if that makes sense lol)

She said "so that's why -" then on tiktok it would auto replay from the start and the first sentence in the video was "we spent the day reading in a van"

What a nice idea for her to use. But she/her management either don't read tattle or they just don't care which would be a shame. I've been on here for like half a year now and despite all the trolling, there has been such a great amount of ideas and inspiration for improvement. I've also compared Ruby's threads to other threads about other influencers which are beyond boring.
What trolling 💀?

I just saw her 2022 recap from 5 days ago, this witch went to the Heartstopper conference and never blurbed about it? Did I miss anything?

Hanging out with friends is a good thing and I'm glad to see Ruby with Blakeney. I hope Rubes & Blakes had fun but honestly I just get tweeny vibes from it. I used to do things like that with my bestie when I was around 12. By the time we were in our 20s we weren't hanging out in that way. Neither of us were into clubs or similar but snacks in an old van no - not at that age. A walk, a drink in a pub, coffee out, a meal out, making a meal together, a weekend somewhere were more our thing.

I'd happily spend a day reading the same book as my friend, I actually think that would be super fun. But we'd do it in one of our homes, not our parents' camper van? I think that's what gives it such a teenage vibe - Mummy and Daddy's van in Mummy and Daddy's garden with snacks that Mummy and Daddy bought.

She did mention it months ago in a couple of Insta posts, but never did a full vlog or anything that I can remember. It was all an-around embarrassment of lies and stupidity.

I seem to remember the screening was announced as being for the LGBTQ+ influencer community, but then every major influencer at Ruby's management company ended up with an invite somehow despite only Eve Cornwell identifying as queer.

Jack Edwards went, was clearly unfamiliar with the books despite claiming to be "YouTube's resident librarian", so he made up a bunch of crap in a video about how he just happened to be reading the books when he was (gasp!) surprised with an invite to the premiere because "main character energy", like the universe had rewarded his "genuine" interests. Only the timescales didn't add up and he very obviously got an invite, rushed to throw together some footage of himself pretending to read books he'd never heard of before to claim he was a fan, then went to the premiere.

Ruby didn't come off much better. She unsurprisingly didn't have a lot to say since it was yet another situation where she had no awareness of the books or the show. She didn't bother researching or preparing for the author Q&A by reading any of the books even though it would've taken an afternoon at most. She also didn't watch any of the show beyond what was shown at the premiere.

She pretended to read a copy of the first book which was gifted to her at the premiere, but she didn't have anything to say about it since she hadn't actually read it. She offered no information beyond reading out the cover blurb and parroting a few marketing quotes in Insta posts. It was beyond fake and embarrassing.

She claimed that the show was "truly groundbreaking" but didn't offer any further details whatsoever, showing that she either didn't watch the show, didn't read the books, has never watched any other shows with gay leads or read any queer lit, or all of the above. Not a slight on Heartstopper's quality, but it's treading no new ground. Ruby would know that if she'd ever stepped outside her tiny bubble and actually watched TV or read books that weren't for infants.

I’m still catching up but she can keep her ink stained mits OFF the Brontës, they’re my favourite, incredibly famous sister trio not hers although I would love to see her attempt at a Yorkshire accent

Starting to think she's not emulating the "Granger" lifestyle, she's just using the name in denial that she's a pretentious, out-of-touch Victorian child. Nothing about her has Hermione in it anymore.

Was that the premiere where she went in ‘school uniform’ in an attempt to cosplay the book? That was … weird.

Yes! With a tailcoat for good measure, just in case they asked her to conduct an orchestra while she was there or something.

I'm currently reading a nonfictional historic book about men dressing as women in the Victorian era ("fan and Stella: The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England" by Neil McKenna) and I'm thinking "what would Ruby think about this topic? would she read the book?"

Off topic but it's a really good book and I really enjoyed it! I had to do a lot of reading on those men for a university module called queer Britannia and it was about gender and sexuality in the nineteenth century and I do wonder how ruby would cope with it especially as I had to read a Victorian gay porn novel for class and discuss it.

I think that it would be a bit shocking for her especially as some stuff might be explicit for her, not including the porn novel I had to read for class. I think her versions of the Victorians are just fancy dresses and afternoon tea than the reality. As for LGBTQ + issues and topics especially of the period , not sure how Ruby would stand about things other than saying things were wrong and that's it.

I know that she has read books such as Call Me By Your Name and Heartstopper apparently, but I'm not sure if Ruby even really reads books with characters who aren't white and assumedly middle class girls in them. I don't see her being that interested in other books, fiction or non fiction that deal with LGBT themes and characters other than what's popular online or she's invited to a premier for.

I've noticed that Ruby never talks up the Brontës, even though the sisters and their writing would seem to be perfectly aligned with her online image and purported interests. How does a supposed lover of literature, Victoriana, and moody atmospherics routinely ignore the Brontës? Too violent? Too sexy? Whatever the reason, I get the feeling she's not a fan, so it'll be interesting if she has to do some kind of academic instruction on Wuthering Heights.
I remember her hyping up Villette on Tik tok a few months ago, probably hasn't actually read it though!

i am still genuinely shocked (and refuse to believe) that she read call me by your name - the mental image of ruby making it through the peach scene alone is too much!

completely agree with your entire post 👏🏻

She claims to have read it twice, yet included footage of herself smashing a peach into her mouth on her Italian holiday with no idea how that connected with anything in the book (which she was "rereading" at the time). Zero chance she's ever read it.

Yeah she has read its twice like @gossip_guy said above. 🤣 Maybe the peach scene just went over her head because she is such an innocent unknowing child 🤣

i’m remembering so much about that book now (including the stomachache/toilet scene) and there is no way on any level that she read that. twice! it’s just not a book i can see her vibing with or truly taking in, it speaks about sex in such a visceral way!

she probably just went “the themes are really important” or whatever soundbite she tends to use and moved on 🤣

I'm glad Ruby has at least one very close friend but Blakeney always looks like she's humouring a much younger cousin she's looking after when they're together
