Her parents are probably too scared to try and make Ruby grow up and get independence. She would probably throw huge tantrums, guilt trip the fuck out of them, and sink deeper into her own world. They have probably tried before and got nowhere.

I personally think it must drive her parents crazy, having her around all the time. If they want her to go to work, they have to drive her because she can't drive. Then her anxiety condition (which I of course have empathy for) where they can't leave her in the house alone. All her tea cluttering up the cupboards, taking her mother's stamp box (Roob claims that they 'share it'). Then her content creating, they have to be out of her way while she does her videos. Having THEIR home constantly on the internet.

As parents, Im sure they are worried about her. But yeah. It must also be irritating. They are at the age when its nice to just have your own space, kids out of the home. Especially given that both their kids seem to be able to afford to move out.

And I will say to be fair - she cut the sentence off half way because its a thing people do in tiktoks and shorts. You end the video on a cut off sentence that loops and joins to the one at the start (if that makes sense lol)

She said "so that's why -" then on tiktok it would auto replay from the start and the first sentence in the video was "we spent the day reading in a van"

She does seem very tight with her money and others have said I really don’t understand trying to sell clothes when you reeeally don’t need the money. I’m very working class but I don’t even faff around with trying to resell clothes, I either donate them or give to friends, especially if they aren’t designer pieces.

It’s very obvious Ruby comes from a family that is the furthest thing away from poor yet she tries to hide it, i.e., references how she needs to budget as a student in past videos yet would go to Waitrose for her weekly shop nobody’s expecting her to show her balance sheet every year but even so much of a ‘i come from a background that allows me to not have to work/worry about money like most students’ would suffice imo, I think it’s especially important given many of her viewers are 1) very young 2) often international so both categories aren’t really familiar with the uni system, and they may put unnecessary pressure on themselves to do better in comparison to someone who was fortunate enough to be born into a life of the best of everything. I really hope they’re aren’t kids out there who are beating themselves up because they can’t study like Ruby who was privately educated, had supportive parents, own room + own desk, and whose only sole focus was academics.

I know that Ruby obviously has Other Issues going on but the fact that she's gone on a walk, a run AND done yoga signifies that she's floundering to me. She has no idea what to do with herself. Even with a part-time job she's driven by her compulsion to BE PRODUCTIVE and say she's done all of these things because deep down she knows she's stagnant in comparison to her peers. It's just desperately sad.

It's Holocaust Memorial Day and Ruby hasn't (yet) made any posts about it, tried to scam money from charities, made the Holocaust all about herself or turned it into an excuse for undeclared ads for unrelated sponsors! Has she...(gasp)...learned a lesson?

I mean, she's still not properly addressed all her previous bullshit or proven she returned any of the charity money she took, and that school memorial excuse that she was JANUINELY going to be self-funding after graduation vanished immediately. But between this and skipping the last Anti-Bullying Week (her other outlet for charity scams and audacious lies) I guess at least she's learned not to go back to the well!

I don't think she takes it too seriously because she wasn't seriously looking for a job anyway. I think her using the Granger last name and listing all those things is just so her fans will think that she was a prodigy who was able to balance a ton of activities with her academics. It seems to be mostly a vanity CV rather than a professional one.
Plus, whatever jobs she could potentially get are through connections she already has (her current job, for example). And Sixteenth plays a role in this, too.

Exactly this, I think she sees LinkedIn like goodreads, just another social media where she can brag about what's she's done and how scholarly she is. Because I think if she was serious she would use her real name at least.

As someone who's unemployed atm (graduate life, the economy is dying etc)... the 'boredom' is actually the worst part.
Not in the sense that you're a child who wants to go and play all the time, but in the crushing sense of failure, being alone with your thoughts too much, sensing your parents want you to leave ASAP and resent you but you can't, because you're priced out of even the dingiest rental house and nobody wants to hire you. It's being called 'lazy' and 'useless' as if it's your fault you're not getting hired instantly, despite the fact you're searching for jobs every day alongside cleaning, cooking and watching people your age seemingly live perfect lives because they can afford to travel the world on their parents' dime.

Ruby infuriates me sometimes because there's no reason she has to live this depressing life; she has more than enough money and support from her parents and could do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. If she wanted to go and live in London, she could probably afford it. She could get an unpaid internship in a fantastic career and still support her lifestyle. Instead, she stays at home and lives a childish version of the life a lot of people her age are living, albeit hers is entirely by choice. Seeing her romanticise boredom but not try to break out of the rut and use her resources to just, y'know, change her situation, is so damn frustrating. There's no need for her to try and make her existing life more interesting when she has so few barriers to creating actual change in her life. You know it's bad when people like Holly Gabrielle are having more exciting lives than her...

I often check this thread but haven’t posted in a while. Just want to say I’m in the exact same position as you, and it completely sucks. Watching others live their dream lives whilst you sit there feeling like a failure is heartbreaking.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet so sorry if they did BUT I did some digging around this new teaching job she has and sure enough she is listed as a member of Academic Staff on her old secondary schools website!

This is absolute a joke. The order of staff is alphabetical but seeing her name under the title of Academic Staff makes my blood boil. I guess you can do anything kids as long as your mummy and daddy have enough money to send you to a private school and you play the role of annoying teachers pet during and after your schooling ends. UGH it's just so irritating because she has no teacher training/experience and yet here she is employed at a private school probably acting like a pompous know it all. I HOPE her students find this thread.

It is kinda weird that there are other people listed as "Assistants" while Ruby is only listed as "English" like she's a regular teacher.

She had pictures of children, literal children, on some "inspo" wall of hers. If I was a parent at the school she's "teaching," I would be highly uncomfortable with her supervising my child.

The fact she's playing at teaching is a slap to the face to actual teachers as well. One thing I've learned over my teacher training course is that you have to do it for the kids. Not because you want to go back to your safe place that is high school, not because you want to seek validation, not because you want to seem like the smartest person in the room (looking at you, Rubes). Everyone's reason for wanting to be a teacher is different ofc, but if it comes from a selfish place you won't last.

And, at least here in Canada, private schools (as in paid, students in uniform, don't have to follow provincial curriculum) are actually worse because they're allowed to hire unqualified teachers despite being sold as better than public schools. In fact, for the few years I did go to a private school, my "teachers" were fired from public schools for whatever reason or were never hired and needed another job.

Just my two cents. I'm seething.

Oh and you can just imagine her strutting into her old school like some celeb who has come back to bless her home town. The fact that her students know their "teacher" is a Youtuber is going to be...problematic on so many levels. If she really wanted to take teaching seriously, she would enrol in a course, delete her channel, and focus on maturing herself before leading kids and preparing them for the real world (that's what teachers should do, ideally). But ofc she won't. It's just another pet project for her to play at, like BeInG an AuThA

To be fair, im also having a gap year and I dont remember getting bored a single moment since i finished my last exam. There are many activity options

Spoiler: My preferences include

Meeting with friends, watching tv, books, going to market (as an excuse to go out), making coffee, chatting with mum, taking my cat to garden in good weathers, making origami AND BEST OF ALL napping at home. I also go to an art course a few days a week and I sometimes work on my painting at home as well

I feel like the stress we go through during school contributes to boredom when we can not use our free time efficiently towards work OR entertaintment. As if we are wasting our "free" time by not taking advantage of every second.

I read somewhere that scientists have shown that doing nothing or 'being bored', looking out of the window, is very beneficial for us if we do it every now and then. Our body and mind relax. We don't have to be productive, whether in work or in our pastime, every moment of the day.
