I 'm stil catching up on this thread, but I completely agree! I moved to the UK with my family around the time Ruby was doing GCSE videos, and I found her to be a good example of a clear accent I could use to practise English listening. Nowadays, I'd like to think my English is a lot better! I find the vast majority of people I hear quite easy to understand, but Ruby's content feels less and less intelligible to me by the day.Not really related to the current topic of discussion but I wanted to know if I was the only person here who understands less and less what Ruby is pronouncing when she speaks?
English isn’t my first language and I’m hard of hearing (mildly, not severely, but it might play a role) so I usually read @gossip_guy’s amazing summaries to keep in touch but I tried to watch her latest video and found myself unable to understand some of her sentences, sometimes complete ones. And the fact that she tries SO hard to over-articulate words she mispronounces doesn’t help when you try to read on her lips
I know she apparently has a "posh" accent (I actually am terrible at differentiating accents, so I’m believing you all about that) but I could understand her more clearly a few years ago; since a few months, everything she says is gibberish but it also sounds like that! Even the YouTube subtitles can’t help all the time.
It would help a lot if Ruby would stop speeding up her videos and/or just talked more calmly, not trying to act as if she was trying to make a point 24/7 because the end result feels even more rushed than usual in my broken ears.
Being from the drunkest state in America, I thought this was a shot glass…View attachment 1395216Her tea is actually bigger than her meal wtf. Pretty soon it'll be just a shot glass.
Is that really an impressive feat if you have endless amounts of free time and no responsibility though? Anyone can joylessly fill words on a page one hour a day like Ruby does when they have the infinite pot of free time without responsibility that she has. Potential comes when there's some tiny amount of imagination and talent, however messy and raw, and Ruby has shown no improvement or imagination in anything. She can only write about herself, or things she's pulled from other books, and she hasn't grown better at even the basics of writing, like spelling, grammar and punctuation.I think that ignoring the fact she has some form of writing potential (even if it's simply the graft to sit down and write a full book) is done a lot here
That's on paper. Realistically, you would need a very strong professional/publication history to have a shot in the dark at an Oxford place with a 2:1. Why? Because everybody has a 1st. There are 30 applications for every spot. If you don't have a very high 1st, you need a very unique selling point as to why you would benefit more over somebody with those high grades. Something tells me Erinmentha won't cut it.There is not a University MA programme in the land that would turn their nose up at a 74 for a dissertation mark. Not even Oxbridge. Why would they?
The problem would inevitably arise in an interview scenario, where our protAGONIST would decry her grade as paltry and how her dissertation actually deserved a much higher mark. Instant red flag.
Oxford entry requirement for one of their postgraduate English programmes:
a first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in English literature and/or English language, or exceptionally a related subject.
If a 2:1 meets entry requirements (presumably providing the course isn't oversubscribed and you nail an interview) then why would her dissertation mark of 74 be remotely of concern? I think our amazing gossip_guy nailed it when he said she felt entitled to a 'publishable' mark. And therein lies the problem.
She’s also still following 8 Passengers, which is now Moms of Truth, because Ruby Franke has gone fully around the bend and is now involved in a full-blown cult.Long time lurker here. Just seen that Ruby liked this post. Yikes. View attachment 1395340
That's gonna be so uncomfortable to study on. My back and butt hurt just looking at itShocking Ruby update: The shredded armchair that she got from the house she owns and used as a spine-mangling office chair is now gone.
Is this the first smart decision Ruby's made this year? Has she bought an appropriate office chair for the 9 hours a day of sitting and moping at screens she does?

Once again, aspiring bestselling author doesn't understand how POV works.
Apparently first-person POV now includes:
The viewpoint of a someone you're clutching by the throat as you spin maniacally in a field when you should be getting a job.
The perspective of the farmer watching as you trespass through their land, prancing about like an escaped mental patient.
The point of view of a wild rodent about to attack your ankles.
Remember, even when you're done with your studies, you're not done with performing! Always appear productive, studious, and interested in learning! THAT IS YOUR IDENTITY.
WHY?! I’ll sit on a decent office chair for an hour and get up in agony, I cannot imagine forcing myself to do one of her 16 hour study sessions sat on a fucking wooden dining chair…. this girl is a hair shirt wearing masochist I swearShocking Ruby update: The shredded armchair that she got from the house she owns and used as a spine-mangling office chair is now gone.

I mean, a lot of uni logins won't last "for the rest of your life" unless specific unis have an alumni extension scheme. A lot of external memberships of uni libraries don't include online access to things like JSTOR either so great tip, Ruby!Ruby: (Tries to show that she's being VARRY PRODOCKTIVE even though no LACKCHURRERS will grade her for it.)
Also Ruby: "IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, you should use all your uni logins to be constantly learning things for the rest of your life. (POINTS FINGER AT YOU STERNLY)"
The fuck do you mean "in all seriousness", Rubert? Are you saying you weren't looking at articles on JSTOR? Because you have to first be joking to then say "in all seriousness".
Every day is a new journey of discovery as we see what new parts of the English language Ruby doesn't understand.
Yeah exactly, I believe my uni login credentials will expire 5 years after graduation unless I enrol in another course?I mean, a lot of uni logins won't last "for the rest of your life" unless specific unis have an alumni extension scheme. Oh there's definitely an element of masochism to Ruby's way of life! All those long hours spent studying/writing, her insistence that you need to keep working even during breaks, small portions of unappetizing porridge, ... Victorian workhouse-style vibes really.WHY?!
