100% as much as we know what was presented at trial we do not know what happened with that 1st investigation at least justice was done for Tina. He's such a wick saying a jury wouldn't be needed because he'll plead guilty. He got away with it for long enough now he needs to accept his fate.
I'm by no means sticking up for the Gardai here as we all know how incompetent they can be but I do believe they only had certain powers whilst she was a missing person at the time the house was searched first. Law is not my field of expertise but I don't think they could have seized his laptop or tore down the walls/ripped up the floors without concrete evidence she hadn't left the house. I know it was obvious to everyone he had a part to play but they could only do certain things. (This is just some thoughts coming from my obsession with all things true crime!)
It was only when the case was re-examined under a new detective and the cctv footage from the post office was viewed, things didn't add up. Thankfully it was looked at again or he'd still be walking around a free man.
The tv and radio interviews absolutely stink of Joe O'Reilly alright. Satchwell probably thought he'd outsmarted everyone.
ETA- the t-shirts were disgusting.
