I've been listening to the Indo podcast about the trial, the details of their relationship (as told by Richard) seem very bleak. It's like he was describing what he thought people would think a perfect relationship is like but it just sounded odd and controlling.

That's my impression too, just from reading articles about the case. He was at pains to say what a wonderful life she had and how she never wanted for anything. Poor lass.

So relieved for Tina's family to hear the guilty verdict. He should get extra time for the character assassination he tried to pull off in his so called defence. A scumbag to the last, I hope he rots in jail!

I don't usually watch programmes like that but I did in this case.
It was very sad. Everyone who spoke about Tina, spoke with great fondness and love. It's clear that he controlled her life completely. Isolating her from her family and friends by the move to Youghal. More than one person remarked that she was never alone, he was always there. A former teacher from her primary school described how when she would meet them, out and about, he never spoke. She and Tina would chat briefly and then he would basically give a signal to move on, by stepping his foot forward. Horrible, horrible man, May he rot in jail.

The sound was quite bad towards the end of it so I missed how he was caught out in the end. Did he hire in someone to do works? Also what the hell were the Guards at seizing his laptop and seeing what he Googled the night she disappeared - FOUR YEARS later. It was clear she never left that house ffs. Makes them look like incompetent ejits. Had they seized his laptop from the very start this never would have dragged on for four years and maybe more evidence relating to the circumstances in how she died would have been preserved.
No, he didn't hire anyone. The cadaver dog had indicated that there was something to be found, by lying down at the bottom of the stairs. The gardai and the builders were getting ready to demolish an extension at the back, and then they noticed something about the badly built brick wall under the stairs.
Part of the structure beside the narrow door under the stairs was a brick wall, with one brick a different hue to the others.

The builder who was brought in by the guards to excavate under the stairs stated that the skim on top was very thin so if the Cadaver dog was brought in years ago I imagine would have found body immediately, never realised the guards don’t have a cadaver dog and she had to be brought in from Northern Ireland
You just knew he would be filthy. Those poor animals.
I just don’t understand all the time wasted digging up local areas and involving Interpol when they never even searched the house properly. Sniffer dogs and seizing certain items are first port of call surely before anything else. The Guards look farcical here. And that’s before you get to them being caught wearing “come home Tina” T-shirts to the darts!
Between this and the Mike Gaine case, it looks like very shoddy Garda work, tbh.
Now obviously I don't know any of the details about when the poor man's body ended up in the tank, but it's extraordinary that it was under their noses, so to speak.
Had Tina's body been found first time around, the case against that murdering fucker would presumably have been a lot stronger. And it would have spared her family all those years of not knowing where she was. He really loved the limelight. The comparison with the Joe O'Reilly case had crossed my mind aright, even before it was mentioned. That clip of him on the LLS still chills me, I remember it well.

He's such a wick saying a jury wouldn't be needed because he'll plead guilty. He got away with it for long enough now he needs to accept his fate.
I'm by no means sticking up for the Gardai here as we all know how incompetent they can be but I do believe they only had certain powers whilst she was a missing person at the time the house was searched first. Law is not my field of expertise but I don't think they could have seized his laptop or tore down the walls/ripped up the floors without concrete evidence she hadn't left the house. I know it was obvious to everyone he had a part to play but they could only do certain things. (This is just some thoughts coming from my obsession with all things true crime!)
It was only when the case was re-examined under a new detective and the cctv footage from the post office was viewed, things didn't add up. Thankfully it was looked at again or he'd still be walking around a free man.
The tv and radio interviews absolutely stink of Joe O'Reilly alright. Satchwell probably thought he'd outsmarted everyone.
