I think back years ago when we had execution, yes there was people hanged for crimes they didn’t do,these days though we have come along way since 1969 when capital punishment was abolished,we now have DNA which obviously didn’t have back then.
DNA doesn't solve every case does it though? And the death penalty certainly doesn't act as a deterrent - you only have to look at the state of the USA to see that. It's all about vengeance and that's not what the justice system here is for - it is for punishment and hopefully rehabilitation.

But you're right, we have come a long way since public executions, as in we (the UK) realised there is no place for the death penalty in a civilised society.

Twitter is giving more details on the Paris Lola case. They’re saying it was four Algerians who have been arrested, and possibly an organ harvesting issue. Massive warning if looking on Twitter though, I clicked to look on a thread and there’s a video of the poor girl being discovered in the suitcase which is horrifying. Turn filters on if looking as I wouldn’t want anyone else accidentally seeing it 😔

TVP have named Neil Maxwell as a suspect re Leah Croucher. He had access to the property for maintenance, has previous for sexual offences, and killed himself in April 2019.
Oh, so not a married Asian man after all then?

Very detailed statement from TVP:

Sounds like he killed her in the house and just left her there and no one has been inside since until Monday this week. Wow 😞

On a previous thread someone mentioned Police Camera Murder and it never actually aired due to the Queen’s passing. For those interested its on ITV tonight at 9pm. Looks right up my street 👍🏻

Juries absolutely 100% should not be allowed to have any say whatsoever in the sometimes very complex matter of sentencing.

EDIT - I should qualify that statement by saying that doesn't mean I don't agree with their decision - I don't know anything about the case at all (mass shootings don't interest me) so I have no idea if he was genuinely mentally ill - but if he was, you cannot put mentally ill people to death. That is just barbaric.

But we've all read sentencing remarks here and how much thought goes into them from the top legal minds in this country. The fact that the decision is left to a bunch of twelve lay people with no legal training at all is fucking scary.

But this is what happens when you run a justice system based on religion and revenge.

So, nothing to do with internet dating at all then?

It makes me really angry that they're trying to use his ADHD and the fact he'd stopped taking his meds as an excuse. Plenty of people have ADHD and don't commit savage acts like this, he was perfectly capable of thinking clearly enough to cover his tracks.

The Meredith Kercher case has always stuck with me as it was so tragic, her poor siblings losing both parents as well now. It did always feel like she was forgotten about in the circus. Amanda Knox might be innocent but she has been incredibly inappropriate over the years, maybe i'm misremembering but she hasn't ever seemed to care about Meredith 🤷‍♀️

I’ve just watched Libby are you home yet on sky crime
Just absolutely Heartbreaking I have a child at Uni and it’s just the stuff of nightmares something like this happening !
Her parents were incredible how they held it together
But what the hell was wrong with that sick murdering evil man that did it ! He went home and watched porn after the murder then went back out and was masturbating in public to satisfy his needs ! He had previously been spying on students and masturbating over their front doors !
Do you think the access to online porn is encouraging these sickos or has their always been this kind of deviant around ?? It actually really worries me that these sorts of people are out in our society !! Like why are they like this !!!

Just watched a tik tok (@spookytruecrimeee) about Corrie McKeague - it was his mother on TV discussing it.
So upsetting, so sad. He was on CCTV throughout his night out but finally went down a dead end but never came back out of it.
I think I read somewhere it was a possibility he was in a bin and taken away by a refuse lorry?
Feel so bad for his mother 😥

I posted this on another thread but I have to say the Netflix drama Dahmer is absolutely brilliant. Although it’s gruesome it’s compulsive watching. Evan Peters does an excellent job of portraying Dahmer.

Just saw on the news that they’ve charged a 34 year old for Olivia Korbell-Pratts murder. So glad to hear that!!

The reporting on the police... "they never made efforts to get inside". You can't just go into a property without a reason to. If someone went missing in your area they would knock on doors and perhaps leave a note to contact police. But without reason to smash the door in why would they? DM journalism is so lazy its unreal.

Feel so bad for her family. Tragic loss of their son also. Hope they find the person who did it soon.

That is why I genuinely don’t agree with the hate Social Workers receive and the idea that they’re steal children from the hands of loving parents as some wasters would like you to believe.

Because in nearly every child death case social workers were involved and weren’t taken away as the situation didn’t seem dire. Imagine how bad the situations truly are when they do make the decision to take children away from their home? Horrifying.

No words
My opinion is that if parents are drug addicts they shouldn’t be able to keep children in their
Care ? I dealt with a case of a newborn baby suffocated by a heroine addict that was known by the healthcare professionals to be an addict I
Will never understand how it’s acceptable for drug addicts children to remain in their care ?

I’m glad (although “glad” doesn’t feel like the right word) that the inquiry has ruled that John Atkinson should not have died in the Manchester Arena bomb. He bled to death because there were no paramedics on the scene to treat him. Firefighters were prevented from attending the scene to help carry the injured to ambulances. So many people were failed that night but John is the one who needlessly died.
I watched a documentary, think it was on ITV, about the Manchester arena bombing and i couldn't believe all the failures involving the security at the venue, the police, ambulance etc. Two of the police officers that were supposed to be patrolling outside the concert went off on a break and stayed off much longer than they should have done! I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but the bomber was walking round with this gigantic rucksack and was clearly struggling to walk with it, security should have picked up on it - one of the parents did and told someone but no one acted on it!

The delays in getting ambulance crew in was an awful decision too. I think it was because they were worried it was an active shooter situation, but people needed urgent medical attention!

I just can’t get poor Sebastian out my mind, how could anyone do that to a child, let alone their own child. I just can’t stand the thought of him having to go home and face that torture. That video clip of him in pain, alone, is harrowing.

I watched the entire parkland trial. It was absolutely harrowing and the pain those parents are suffering now is just intolerable.
I don’t particularly agree with the death penalty but in this case it would of given the parents some sort of feeling that justice was served.

The defence were just terrible but they played the game.I honestly feel the fact Cruz was sat there with his big glasses and Cosy jumpers constantly scribbling and looking perplexed as to why he was even there would of played a huge part in the jurors opinion of him.
In earlier hearings without glasses and long hair he looks like a different person

To me so many different things collided to make this person who decided to kill

He did have special needs he rode the special bus.His mother was homeless and taking crack and drinking whilst she was pregnant
We don’t really know how that effects the brain long term
.All those things were allowed to happen and to me this is the outcome that people place no regard to their unborn baby’s health

Parents that were really too old to adopt two young boys but because they could pay for a private adoption were able to buy two babies

A school system that enabled him to join the sharp shooters club just beggars belief

The fact he was classed as a mentally
vulnerable adult but able to buy a rifle
How they in America carry on with the belief they have the right to bear arms but can witness 17 children gunned down whilst at school is beyond me

The sentence hearing is due to take place Tuesday the 1st of Nov and it’s going to be a chance for the parents to speak more freely !
It’s going to be harrowing I’m sure !

I couldn't follow Sebastian's case. I read the live reporting on the first day and that was enough. I actually cried reading these reports following the verdict. There are some nice photographs of him in them that I hadn't seen.

He never told anyone. He just carried that abuse for all of those months and he never told a soul. Just kept it all inside and carried on. And that just breaks my fucking heart 💔

Anyone know where we can watch the sentencing? Both Sky and BBC News are focused on the BOE base rate raise!
