Not sure how old yours is but definitely recommend training ASAP! Not for the tricks so much but just the concentration and focus on you. My Cockapoo was an absolute bloody nightmare, frankly none of us could stand her for weeks but she was a new dog post-training! She found a new respect for us as her owners I think, it taught her who was the boss and what she needed to do to get praise. She still has her moments (now 15 months) but it does get better I promise. Hang in there it’s worth it I promise x

He is 10 weeks. Obviously he’s still so young, he’s not allowed out so I’m hoping when he’s allowed out next week it will be a bit easier as we can go walks to burn his energy. Did anyone notice a difference at this stage or not really?

Hi lovely are you aware (apologies if you are) that puppies should only be having very short walks or it can affect their bones. I know it’s tempting to ‘tire them out’ believe me I’ve been at my wits end with one of my girls and I bred her she came out screaming I should have known at that point! But a very young puppy should only be having 5 mins per month of age up to twice a day so 15 mins max when he’s 12 weeks.He is 10 weeks. We do have a garden but it’s fairly open, so I’m a bit worried as foxes/cats can pass through

Based on things I’ve read I think he’s definitely overtired, but I’m not sure how to encourage him to sleep more? My house is quiet so there’s nothing really riling him up but he just has so much energy
I needed this so bad as I’ve sat and sobbed. We’ve had our since the weekend and I just can’t bare to hear her cries on a night. My husband has gone down, ignored her but she’s now gone to sleep. You don’t know if you’re doing the right thing, what to do for best, and I’m honestly like what have I done
Weirdly enough, my cockapoo loved the pub! There’s so many smells, different kinds of dogs, humans, kids and I think it really helped her social skills. I’ve known people who don’t take their pups out in these social situations but it really turned a corner for me, it takes a good few tries because she wanted to play with everyone but now she’s so comfortable.
not sure if you’re crate training, but another tip from tattler is make sure that their crate is their bedroom and safe space. I would never go into her crate or try to handle her whilst she’s in there, that way she knows if she doesn’t want to play or is fed up she can go in there and won’t be bothered. I locked her in at night for the first couple of months but now she just sleeps on the sofa - but I would definitely recommend crate training - she loves it.

I'm absolutely mortified that he managed to do that and feel I've let him down in some way by not training him properly

Thanks everyone. The more I think about it, the more frustrated I am that he was put in that position. If he'd have bitten the kid, I dread to think what could have happened, especially as there's other dogs at the daycare with him. They mentioned it's not a good fit for him now due to his consistent issue with food. Yet it has never been mentioned before.

what a silly mother putting a child in that position and not fair on your dog. If you want to do doggy daycare it’s got to be set up right, especially if you’ve got children. Neither your dog or that little boy should’ve been put in that position. I have two dogs and a three-year-old the dogs are not allowed in the room while she eats and when the dogs eat, she knows not to go near them and they have their own personal space. It’s basic dog management. I’d also want more questions answered was the child on the worktop did the dog jump up and grab it, it sounds like it was just a genuine mistake on your dogs part probably saw the child as an easy option to get food. Like you say though he obv does need a bit of extra training on that side of things we all know labs love their food.
Yet another prime example that it's not the dogs fault but the owners or in this occasion the daycare owner!! So sorry this happened to you @AladdinSane

It was down to the daycare people. It’s also incredibly unfair on your poor dog. Find somewhere else x
