PTWM #220 Nursed the Thread to Death

As I have previously said, I work in Paediatrics of a sort (focussing on Speech and Language, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy etc}. We are already seeing referrals to OT for children (mainly primary age) that have no clue how to do the basics. Holding pencils, toileting, dressing and a tonne more reasons because they have never been shown these by parents. These aren't SEN children. Just sadly the children of lazy parenting.

Totally agree. I work in early years and children can’t play, can’t do anything for themselves, wander around aimlessly and cry if you try to set boundaries or routine.

Had a 1yo today empty a tray of blocks, to hold the tray and stare at it, swiping and pressing intermittently. Pretending to watch a screen. For a loooong time. There’s no hope.

Edie and her boyfriend popped up on my TikTok fyp just now and after seeing them declare their love for each other in the comments I looked up his account. My goodness. For a start he looks at least 15 but even if he isn’t, most of his posts contain absolutely vile, toxic statements.

It's a comment like that that could really make a difference to a child like Edie, and she chooses to completely ignore it.

And that sums up Rach. Edie was sharing that as she was proud of her acheivemnt and the fact a taacher had said something positive to her. Thats huge after the year she appeared to have last year, maybe didnt need the comment about truanting as every day should be a new day but massive progress. Rach hasn't even acknowledged it, instead has a dig over food!!

This really wound me up, it's so cringeworthy. Edie's saying they're going to miss the train, Lula's telling her to shut up and Rachaelele's too busy fawning over Lula like she's the most popular girl in school to have even the slightest clue what's going on.

If you get ignored when you do something well, then you may as well go back to getting the wrong sort of attention from the wrong sort of people. Anyone who takes her parenting advice needs a lot more help than just in the parenting stakes!

Honestly she is one of the worst examples of parenting ive ever had the misfortune of seeing. She has such bright children and her lack of direction is clearly affecting them. But shes so busy watching them through her phone she cant see it.

Equally disappointed in E's dad for allowing her to be exploited in that way.
