Where are people reading the trial? I have been using MEN but there isn’t as much detail as I’m seeing posted here.

Also - I am really confused by the description of Preston slumped over the cot. I’m imagining him standing and leaning over but it sounds like he’s not breathing (lips blue etc) - how is he in this position? Wouldn’t he move away if they’re not holding him? Or has he been forced into that position for so long he now can’t?

I just can’t picture what is actually happening to him. Altho I also feel like I don’t want to!
I'm confused as well, apparently he is asleep but his lips are also blue? Is he unconscious?

Oh my, imagine being the pathologist and having to examine Preston and document all of that. I know they are objective in their assessments but she would have come to her own conclusions as to what happened. God bless her for doing such harrowing work and telling Preston’s story when he didn’t have a voice. The details are absolutely damning and I can’t imagine anything at all the defence can offer.

I am sadly not surprised they were allowed to adopt. Most areas of the country are lacking adopters and social services are at breaking point.

I was turned down for adoption as a single woman. Their main concerns where that I didn't have enough savings and that I would never be as good as a couple. I had a baby alone instead, even though I would have preferred to adopt. My child is loved, thriving, safe and a pleasure.

Two ex friends adopted a few years ago and were matched with 2 children even before they had been approved as adopters. Both had professional jobs, including one a teacher. And they were seen as the perfect adopters. Little did social services know that their relationship was already on the rocks, that both lacked basic childcare skills and neither actually any common sense. The parents split up within a year and the kids have had a very chaotic life since.

I think the system does allow middle class adopters to appear to be the superior choice. That money will give a child a better life even if the poorer adopters might offer more love and stability.

This is probably due to the demographic of some social workers and bias. This plays out in domestic violence when middle class men are less likely to be seen as abusers and that abuse only happens in working class homes.

I can only imagine they mean when you can lower the side of the cot, that he was slumped over like that, propped up on his knees 🥲

I just want to swear a lot right now. This afternoons evidence has been heartbreaking. Thankfully I think its enough to seal the deal, without any room for doubt!
I’m just glad the pathologist was so emphatic in her statement about the bruising to his throat not being possible during the life saving efforts as he had no pulse to cause a bruise. They can try and argue with facts (and blame the decent people who were trying to save this innocent baby) but science is not on their side- I’m hopeful that there’s no way they can wriggle out of anything now. Absolute creatures.

I did think that would be the case, it was significant that they highlighted the fact of a brief period of regaining a pulse was not enough of a return of circulation to enable a bruise to develop. Poor baby was already dead when he arrived at the hospital

I feel today has been very compelling of their guilt. Thank god, because these people deserve everything coming to them.

Preston's lovely smiley photos rip my heart out. My middle boy looked very similar at that age 💔

I'd be interested to see who gets called as witnesses for the defence. Who the hell would want to take the stand and defend the indefensible!

Also, I wonder if a second Post mortem took place (sometimes known as a defence PM). These are featured in homicide cases as an independent PM and not a Home Office (prosecution) one. It can be useful where the cause of death is challenged by the defence.

Wow … he really rates himself with the blonde “ bob “
I’m speechless today with their utter wickedness.
The futures bleak for the pair of them.

To teach children you need Qualified Teacher Status QTS without this your role is support. SENCOs always have QTS because of the nature of their role which is far more than pastoral. I know this because I have been in the profession since Noah counted the animals on to the arc. Then tried to count children getting on a bus for a field trip. The arc was a successful count, the bus not so good.
Okay but you can be a head of year without being a QT can't you? In academy's and such. I was just explaining why JV seemed to fly through the ranks.

He must have been so desperate for protection and affection. - and he had no reason to fear women. He was probably instinctively hoping to charm her, so she would take him home and keep him safe.

I really, really just cannot bear this. Preston's suffering has broken my heart.
This is such a heartbreaking thought 😭 i still can't get my brain around this court case. That two big hairy grown men were so devoid of empathy for a beautiful little baby. Imagine being the police officers questioning them? Itd take all your strength to compose yourself professionally, I dont think I could

This is how I envisaged it too. Some cots can be set up so the mattress sits higher - see random google image.

He couldn’t have been slumped over the bars if they were at full height. It’s confusing though, because he was too old to have the cot set up in that way - he could have fallen out.
