Perhaps Snapchat is a paedophiles paradise. I had no idea I’ve heard it’s a great place for people to communicate when hiding affairs/seedy hookups from their significant other. The disappearing messages must attract the onces too.

This. They're generally just smiling away and well covered with water, bubbles and the side of the bath.

Exactly that, and I literally mean the odd one or 2. Like a bubble beard for example and you've thought, "ahh cute".
I think the amount of photos is so off, someone said there was a series of 33 from of 45 minute period. It's literally horrendous. I don't know how as a safeguarding lead he can even try to say he thinks that's OK.

Good point about Snapchat and Savannah Brockhill, from my memory they were able to recover everything and that sociopath was convinced they couldn't.

I use Snapchat a lot it's probably my favourite platform and if I were recording a video I would use Snapchat as it has its own memory storage so you can save it in there and it won't take up memory on your phone. It's probably a personal preference thing

Sorry I'm posting so much in here but this case is taking over my mind, it honestly has me tormented. But I've a possible theory, perhaps its tinfoil hat but I've read all the details and spent an unhealthy amount of time thinking about it all.

JV made a lot, and I mean a lot of comments to people about how he was struggling. I want to put him in the field of cows, he's dead, he's spoilt, the foster parents spoiled him, I'm struggling with dark thoughts blabla. It doesn't really couple well with someone trying to hide the abuse that theyre committing. So it made me think there must be a reason why he was saying all that so openly, he is a tactical psychopath by all accounts so I think everything he said was for a reason..

I think maybe they planned to get a baby to abuse when it was small and non verbal, but not keep. I think he was setting up the backstory for the adoption to fail, so he could discard that poor child before he became too dangerous to abuse. A year off work to fulfill his sick desires and then return to sympathy and back pats. Loads of photos as a memory until he took it so far he killed him. Thoughts?

It definitely gets used by a lot of child groomers. I've worked in a job supporting victims of crime/abuse and Snapchat tends to come up often in cases of children who are groomed into sending explicit pics/videos, presumably under the guise of "it'll just disappear" - except there are ways around that so that stuff can end up used for blackmail. The disappearing messages can often make kids think the 'proof' of what happened to them is gone too, so they don't think they can speak up.

Snapchat's 'suggested friends' is also a nightmare as it can often randomly suggest 'friends of friends', meaning it can expose kids' accounts to more groomers if they add one, or expose their accounts if their friend adds someone dodgy.

It's one platform I really wouldn't recommend letting minors have an account on (because even though it's 13+, some kids end up 'allowed' an account from far too young an age to play with filters because their parents believe they can only use it to talk to their school friends, but it's just not as simple/safe as that especially if you're not vigilant with security settings. They've recently added the feature to AI generate photos of your friends, which I'm sure won't be abused like every other genAI tool )

Yes Snapchat was a red flag for me too personally. I also found it weird they communicated so much on there together.

The photos I think the sheer amount, the strange staging in the bath with no water and a pillow and also the fact that clearly his genitals have been the focus of some of these photos means they’re not just innocent snaps that maybe all parents take.
Also, the time frame - it’s so so quick for him to be bathing with him and taking photos like this.

Just going back to the poo video description and the “extreme pornography” I’m wondering if there is a connection there it doesn’t fit the legal definition but I’m still wondering if there was some sort of sexual gratification from this for JV…I can’t even believe I’ve written that. I do a fair amount of casual dating/hooking up and the only straight men over 30 who use snapchat are cheaters or up to no good in my experience.

Most gay/bi blokes use it for hooking up and I barely know any gay men who are monogamous so I suspect that might have been why they used it. (I don't know any gay men their age who use it though, they seem to mainly communicate via hookup apps or WhatsApp.

Not only did JV film Preston having a poo in the bath, he was also in the bath at the same time and lifted Preston’s legs whilst he continued filming him having his poo. This is just too grim they have the actual police interview audio from being questioned on this. I don't think this is tinfoil at all. I think it could be the truth.

I think that will be his defence. Either JV gave a plausible innocent explanation for everything or that he had a weird feeling something was going on but thought he was overreacting and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

And I agree with others. I only have one picture of my son fully naked and that's of his very first bath but it's more a case of it being accidental rather than intentionally. I don't think I would ever feel comfortable bathing with a child that wasn't biologically mine, especially after such a short space of time.

It certainly felt like there was a lot of DARVO going on. JV wanted everyone to see him as the victim, struggling to adjust to parenthood, lack of sleep, being the main carer. It was all about JV and how hard it was for him - no consideration for how hard it was for Preston to be taken from his foster parents and given to a pair of strangers who were abusing him.

I’m not sure whether he would have intended to use Preston for a time before terminating the adoption process and handing him back. As with the Leiland-James case, the social and emotional repercussions of failed adoptions are huge and the shockwaves go through the wider family. I’m not sure JV would have done it.

Also, a p*edophile would struggle to put his sick desires back in the closet once he’d found an outlet. The pattern is usually that they escalate and escalate.

And on that note - @IGiveUp22 - JV was definitely getting sexual gratification from the poo in the bath video. No doubt about that whatsoever.

I really hope that the reason court hasn’t sat today isn’t because one of the delicate likkle flowers on trial is too ill to attend.

I went back and looked at photos of my kids as babies. I have photos of them in a bath but the photos are of them playing with bubbles or whatever and nothing is on show (too many bubbles!). I do have a photo of my father in law changing a nappy, it’s a funny photo because he’s wearing rubber gloves and has a peg on his nose. The photo is taken from my son’s head, you can see he’s on his changing mat and has nude legs but again you can’t see anything. I’ve also got a photo of my kids and 2 of thier mates nude! They were playing and we heard peels of giggles and then they all ran in starkers and giggling! The photo I’ve kept is the one I shared and has stars over the privates.

as I was looking at them I remembered a saying that if you want to know what matters to someone look at what they take photos of, in my case happy kids and FiL in humorous situation. In JVs case….

So.. pedophilia was always something I cringed away from, skipped past news articles, pretended it was a near impossible thing, carried on with my day because it was too disturbing and painful to read about. I mentioned in an earlier post here that I only realised after I read about ian watkins and saw so many cases appear on my social media, how common it is. I think we aren't angry enough BECAUSE the natural reaction is to cringe the hell away from it and pretend it isn't real. For example I started to tell my husband about Prestons case and he shut me down and said he didn't want to know, because it would make him angry for days. So I don't have a very extensive knowledge on some of the things you mentioned there. When you say the usual behavior is to keep escalating, does this mean that a pedophile knows they will eventually be caught and they accept that, and just keep going as long as they can? This off to prison stuff isn't cutting it. Surely at least chemical castration would be a small first step?

I have pics of my kids being bathed as babies and they are pretty much the same as the pics that other parents on this thread have described. Kid with bubble beard, kid with shampoo spiked hair, siblings having a bath together. You can't see lower than their belly button and my only comments of I sent it to their dad/my husband are "look who wants to be a folk singer/punk" or crappy bubble trouble puns (double bubble trouble when it was both kids). I remember taking one pic of my son's bum when he got hand foot and mouth and it was during COVID and my GP asked for it to confirm it was HFM and not chicken pox. Was deleted after I'd sent it and it very clearly was submitted to my GP and there's a record of the consultation

When a man has a paraphilia (there are many forms, see screenshot below) they invariably reach a point where the thing that used to really excite them gets kind of boring, so they have to get more and more extreme with their behaviour to get the same thrill. This can be a flasher who decides start wanking on trains in full view of a woman, or a cross dresser who decides to stop getting dressed up at home in secret and wants to go out in a dress and heels instead. There are endless examples, but one thing always rings true no matter what the paraphilia - they just get more and more consumed by it and their behaviour/offending ramps up and up.

I truly don’t know if a pedophile has enough foresight to think he’ll inevitably get caught. I think he’s literally only concerned with his next orgasm honestly. And probably believes that he’ll just carry on getting away with it. I’d be very surprised if they were of the mindset that they had to make the most of things while they can But who knows, honestly? These sickos are so far removed from humanity who can truly tell what they’re thinking.
