I thought that was very strange too, surely you would be leaning on and consoling your partner in this situation. It seems like they are both overcome with panic about what this means for them. It makes me sick.
I keep thinking about JV's Mum saying that it wouldn't have happened if Preston had been with her, its a very strange thing to say at thia point, I might be reading too much into it but it seems like she had an inkling something was not right - surely with the amount of bruises on his tiny little body she must have noticed something that gave her concern. Sorry to keep going on about the same point.
Thats exactly what I thought if preston was with her that morning then surely she would have noticed all these bruises and damage to his bum when changing his nappy? I hope the mum has made a statement of some sort, she spent time with preston and made comments like that surely she should have been questioned?
Grandmother bathed him in morning, Varley claims he bathed him again as he’d been sick plus Varley wanted to take a shower at the same time so he could watch the baby in the bath.
I think grandma has suspicions of physical abuse (bruises) or just for their general parenting skills - possible the comment came from that or the comment came from a space of “I’d of never left a baby alone in the bath for any reason” type of thinking.
Regarding the damage to his bum (I feel sick even writing this) my opinion was this was done when he was returned back to Varley’s care and during the lead up to this incident.
Not saying this was the first time he did anything like this, but it could be possible that he timed his assaults where grandma wasn’t going to be able to see the aftermath for want of a better word
I feel so sad for this little boy. I’m curious to know if they can interrogate the water company or electric company to see whether a shower/bath was run to disprove his claim, whether a runny poo nappy was found, messages from John to his friends and family and between the two. I find the shoes off thing really odd - you may take your shoes off when you get in but John was locked out and with how Jamie is dramatic that would be the last thing you’d do as he’s likely have been causing a scene when John got home. Unless the call from Jamie to John was telling him something was off. But you’d call an ambulance!! Not drive him to hospital. They could have called 999 and being given instructions on performing cpr instead of driving him to hospital with no resuscitation attempts. Was that to get him out of the house where evidence may be?!
Not defending them, but Just to say where they lived at the time it is less than a mile to the hospital, they thought it would be quicker, I would also think it quicker if I was in that situation.
He said that Preston couldn’t stand or lift himself up because of his arm. Is that the arm you broke you histrionic piece of tit?
When they asked who John was he referred to him as baby boys daddy. Baby boy? The fact that he referred to him as that rather than by his name or as his son says a lot I think.
I am finding this all really hard to read but I want to see justice served for baby Preston.
Just to clear up one point - to be a head of year and safeguarding lead he would need some training and a DBS check, that's it. Having a DBS check only shows that the person doesn't have a criminal record, as far as I'm aware. He could still have been a monster.
Yep! A dbs check is not really worth the paper it's written on as its only valid up until the point it is published. After that some places dont want one until 3 years after.
I keep seeing all these videos being released. Is this normal during a trial? I thought it was after the verdict they released everything?

Most will have to be on a rolling update service now, where it’s reviewed every year and can be checked by prospective employers/professionals at any time. I work with children and they won’t employ with just the standard DBS. But yes I agree it only highlights things you've been caught for.
I’m wondering about the footage too- I thought we weren’t supposed to be privy to things like that whilst a trial is ongoing?

There's no set time frame for DBS rechecks sadly. Schools can choose to do them as often (or not) as the like. In theory, a teacher could have a DBS from appointment and then never get rechecked at all whilst in post in the same setting.
The update service can help, but its not mandatory to sign up.
I read it as perhaps it was a bath/shower and they had a baby seat, one that sticks to the bottom of the main bath tub. So he’s trying to say he’d sit Preston at one end while he showered, so wouldn’t actually be leaving him in the water. But then I’ve got no idea how he’d be able to say he’d drowned. I suspect all the things he said at the hospital were to display the fact that he was pretending to be absolutely mystified on what could have happened to result in the death of Preston, possibly in the hope that the medical professionals would draw their own conclusion of some sort of tragic accident and that would be that. I believe absolutely everything he says and does at that point is to try and save his own skin. He also said to the paramedic ‘he climbs’ so was definitely trying to create multiple scenarios that could have been to blame.

Jamie Varley, 37, collapsed to the floor and pleaded with hospital doctors to 'kill me' after being told 13-month-old Preston Davey was not going to survive.
I haven't said this before but I do think in society straight women especially hold gay men to such high esteem. They think they can do no wrong and desperately want to be a fag hag. I think that probably played some part here for social workers who are often female and hospital staff who all turned a blind eye because they think so highly of gay men. You even see it now with the success of Heated Rivalry, some straight women thrive off gay men
Completely agree with this. The adoption worker seemingly treated them with kid gloves, hence telling them “You did the right thing ” instead of considering one of the A&E visits as a massive red flag.
Almost like, being two men, she expected them to be clumsy and inept at caring for a baby.
The bar for a female stay at home parent wouldn’t be so low IMO.

I think she had an inkling that they were clueless and making a lot of mistakes.
I do believe that men lack the same nurturing instincts that women have.
I remember the first time I ever left my firstborn in the care of her dad while I went out for the evening. She was about a year old, and I came home to her with a cut under her eye. She slipped and bashed her face on the edge of a plastic toy box. I remember thinking then “it wouldn’t have happened on my watch FFS”.
Edit: it hadn’t occurred to me that she mignt have seen evidence of physical and sexual abuse, but that’s also true.
That was a really difficult to watch. He is still coming across as a practiced manipulator. It feels like a textbook DARVO move: positioning himself as the victim rather than focusing on Preston and Preston’s care in that moment. He should have wanted all hands on deck, not three-quarters of the hospital staff hovering around him.
I suspect the dramatics were largely intended to make it harder for anyone to question or scrutinise the details of what actually happened.

I thought this too, at the start of the video Preston hadn’t been declared dead yet but JV was still happy to have multiple nurses crowding round him pandering to his histrionics when any other parent would want all those nurses with Preston doing everything possible to save him.
In terms of the video JV recorded of Preston struggling to breathe on the day of his passing, and them both taking so long to get him to hospital, i suspect it wasn’t the first time poor Preston was in that state.
That vile pos (or both of them), SA’d him regularly and were more than likely used to seeing him struggle to breathe (I feel sick even typing that).
Only this time, it was a final step too far and he couldn’t recover.

What a disgusting comment. Are you for bleepin real?. Get your head out of your a! The only person / people that are responsible for this boys death ARE NOT the 'fag hags' as you put it . Vile comment
