The tartan pants though was they not clean on does that mean after washing dna from sperm etc can still show up... interesting to know why both dna was found on those pants if they was clean on 🫤

It wouldn’t prove an assault though if his own DNA was found on his clothes.

I totally agree. Preston’s relatives should be off limits during a live trial investigating his murder which we know they did not cause. Please remember, the trial is live and the first jury were discharged for reasons not in the public domain.

Yes I understand and agree which is why I questioned posting the screenshots now that the trial is live, it is well known within the area his birth family are from and they were public about it on social media around 2 years ago

My inquisitiveness got the better of me & I tracked down their house on Right Move. Based on a few details already out there, like the road name, foster mum describing it as “beautiful, newly renovated”, Varley’s description of the oval/egg bathtub next to the glass shower partition, plus the few photos of Preston confirmed to have been taken inside the home, which match up to the listing photos.
Looks like they sold it less than a month after Preston’s death, then the next inhabitants put it up for sale less than 2 years later.

Oh that's interesting, I did wonder if they had actually gone ahead with moving house.
Varley was arrested at the hospital, would he and McGowan have been allowed to return to the house at any point, I wonder?

He had a perforated bowel which they said had happened shortly before hospital admission. This alone is very serious and he would have needed to be hospitalised for this.

Where have you seen that he had a perforated bowel? I haven’t heard that evidence yet.

Very disturbing this morning description of Varley recording Preston dying and repeatedly going back to the video and playing it while the baby was dying and doing nothing to help

Jamie Varley is short, fat, dark haired and behaves hysterically, John Fitz is tall, slim, blonde, wears glasses and is calm in nature.

Jamie is tall, dark and slim. John is tall I believe but slightly shorter. Some reports he is stocky. I think witnesses have mixed them up sometimes

There's many excellent SW out there doing unimaginably hard work. There are also some bad eggs, like any profession. I imagine there are also a lot of people who think negatively of them because they got their child taken 'for no reason' which is inevitably bollocks. You don't hear about the ones doing an amazing job because they aren't newsworthy.

Yeah ok I get they might be some good social workers out there, my point is there is a professional social worker on here with a profile picture of becky jones which I dont find very nice to be honest. I can imagine what type of social worker she is... why have this type of image as your profile given her profession I dont understand its unprofessional and very much like a troll... but ok they are not all as bad.

Grandmother bathed him in morning, Varley claims he bathed him again as he’d been sick plus Varley wanted to take a shower at the same time so he could watch the baby in the bath.

That’s a fair point about people generally being reluctant to report and whistleblow imo. There is always a feeling of “what if I’m wrong/jeopardising my position” but a children’s social workers job is literally to question everything and be an advocate for the child. If they are not bold enough to do it they shouldn’t be in the job. The fact some don’t feel like they can is a system failure as (I think) you pointed out. I do think mice has a point that a woman would have been judged more harshly and scrutinised more closely when things were going wrong. Because whether you like it or not, people are not objective and they do make more allowances for men. Prime example is when a Dad “babysits” his own kids or is held up as some shining example for doing the bare minimum expected of the mother.

I agree with what you're saying to a degree- allowances for men- yes perhaps, in the sense of 'a mother might have noticed that full nappy sooner, dad didn't realise the nappy was full as quickly as he might have' or something along those lines but allowances re concerns of harm and abuse. I don't think so

Can anyone ELI5 please. The triall is estimated to last 6 to 6 weeks. Is it likely to follow a set format? 2 weeks in and it’s harrowing already so I’m wondering what will come out and when.

Also, I’m surprised at the footage that has already been released. Is this more than usual? It feels it to me and makes me wonder if we are moving towards the American way of allowing cameras im court rooms

Can anybody just turn up and sit in on the trial? It’s not far from me, I’d love to go (not in a weird way) but think it would probably anger me too much to see those vile pieces of shit in real life

I very much doubt a case like this will be open to the public.

The house was secured by the police whilst they were still at the hospital after Preston died.
