Just catching up on the podcast. The way JV described Preston as needy and spoilt by his foster carer makes me so angry and upset. Thinking back to my own child at 9 months, she was happy and secure but also wanted to be with me every moment of the day. To think those POS were keeping Preston away from the woman who he would have thought of as his mother during such a confusing period of his life is just so cruel and awful. And that’s before the abuse.
Someone upthread said they thought JV and JMF adopted Preston with the intention of abusing him. I think so too. They clearly did not have any loving feelings towards him. If you’re a pedalo you know that about yourself. No way did they think they loved kids and desperately wanted a child to love and raise.

This is what I believe too. There’s no way the sexual abuse just started out of resentment for the baby; this was their plan all along imo. As for the other dad, I don’t believe that he wasn’t involved in it too. He at the very least knew what was going on which in my view makes him complicit and I think more will come out about them both.

Regular meetings with the foster parents are in the best interests of the LAC. JV/JF’s complaints and cancellations should have been a massive reg flag, however much the SW liked them. I wonder if there was a bit of classism and/or ageism at play

I hope there is a thorough investigation and some sackings after this. Likewise for the teachers who completely failed at spotting the red flags.

And I don't just want to hear "lessons will be learned" yet again.

Absolutely. It all escalated way too quickly for it not to have been their plan. JV was also sending JF pictures of Preston’s genitals and (I think) videos of himself in the bath with Preston.
I don’t think we know what JF’s responses were but he knew at least some of what was going on and did nothing.
The fact that within a short time of Preston coming to live with them, JV was taking baths with him, also speaks of the adoption being a plan to abuse him. There are plenty of ways to bond with a child that don’t involve nudity.

I’ve just listened to the latest episode of the podcast and the poo video is even worse than I thought

Not only did JV film Preston having a poo in the bath, he was also in the bath at the same time and lifted Preston’s legs whilst he continued filming him having his poo. This is just too grim they have the actual police interview audio from being questioned on this. This is from the transcript , he’s highlighted in orange. his no comment comes with a massive sigh


There were additional descriptions of some of the videos and photos in episode 3 too which are just indefensible IMO. 33 naked pictures over a 43 minute period

This case is making me wish we still had the death penalty. There is no way they went from an ordinary couple wanting a family, to vile disgusting perverts abusing a baby. It’s not possible, they were already sick in the head and got a baby to live out their fantasies
I wonder how their pally SW feels now

I waver in my stance on the death penalty but in this case I'm in full agreement. He's lost his right to live as human being as far as I'm concerned.

I think most parents have had a kid that's done a poo while they have been bathing them at some stage. Both of mine did and my response was to immediately get them out of the bath, put a nappy out towel or something over their bum while they finish. empty bath, shower the child or otherwise wash them and then disinfectant the bath. Because to just sit there while it happens is absolutely disgusting. It is not normal to film a kid shitting in the bath and staying in the shitty water.


JV and JF are not on the Preston Crown Court hearing list for today.

The latest episode of the podcast cements for me that JF was just as guilty. The part where they read out the dialogue of the conversation the two men had in the bereavement suite the night the baby died; it doesn't say how the video came to be? Was it cctv with audio or was there a member of the police there recording? But either way, that conversation reads to me as a script. Both men saying what they think will sound good in their defence, not a genuine conversation. JF is just as guilty.

Just listened to the latest Trial podcast and a couple of things struck me.

Why on earth did JV film Preston dying on Snapchat? The ONLY reason I can think that makes sense is he was sending them to other abusers due to disappearing messages. There is nothing else that makes sense. You simply wouldn't go to record an innocent video of your child especially if as he said it was to show professionals on Snapchat.

It sounds like the staff were saying JMF had a far more natural reaction to Preston dying and afterwards behaved like a genuinely bereaved parent.

Hearing those interviews JV comes across awfully. Unlikeable and unreliable.

I'm not a mum and have never been especially maternal. However,as with the Lucy Letby trial, the details of what happened to little Preston are both heartbreaking and horrifying. How anyone can do this to anyone, let alone a little person who can neither talk nor fight back is as low as it gets. My heart breaks every time I read something more. Some human beings are scum and have no right to exist within a humane society.

Like others have said, if the phrase 'Lessons will be learned' is trotted out one more time after this case is finished...and any Inquiry that may follow, the people saying it should be held to account. What lessons? What are you going to do differently? How? When? Demonstrate the evidence that those lessons haven't just been learned but acted upon. There will always be abusers amongst us but there was no need for it to escalate to this level of depravity. Again, as others have said, the people who saw red flags and did nothing should also face severe consequences.

And damn this evil couple to hell.

Years ago I used to go out with a man who was a single dad to his 3x (biological) children.
Other mums and teachers were so fawning to him, for doing something that a huge amount of mums do, myself included - looking after their own children - but women don't get a fraction of the appreciation that men get.

When you factor in that this was not one but two men, they were gay men no less, and they were adopting Preston, it is not difficult to imagine all the praise and understanding that was coming their way.
