Mr McGowan-Fazakerley says video of co-defendant partner leaving Preston in bath alone is 'shocking' and 'makes me very angry'

Ms Whyte KC is now taking the defendant to a 14 minute video recorded on July 24, 2023, recorded in the couple’s bathroom.

Mr McGowan-Fazakerley says he was first shown the first 30 or so seconds during his police interview but the first time he saw the full 14 minutes was a few weeks ago - the same time as it was shown to the jury.

Ms Whyte asks if he was aware Mr Varley was trying to teach Preston to ‘self soothe’ at that time.

‘Self soothe, yes, in his cot and on his playmat.’

Asked about his reaction to the video, he says: 'Nothing more than just shocking and inappropriate and pathetic and stupid. It makes me very angry, very angry’, he says.

Ms Whyte asks what he thinks of Mr Varley’s suggestion he was on the other side of the door.

‘I think it's a pathetic defence. I think he should be ashamed. I don’t care if he’s at the other side of that door or not. He shouldn't have done that. Preston could have tipped one of them plants on him. I know he says he was on the other side of the door; he shouldn't have done that. And I’m angry I’ve had to sit there for 14 minutes and watch that. I shouldn't have had to do that’, he says.

I'm not sure why but this whole 'angry. very angry' comes across as very insincere and self-serving.

Because he has no understanding about normal behaviour around a baby JMF won’t appreciate how concerning it sounds the amount of time Preston was naked. No sane person puts a baby naked in a cot, nor lets them be naked while eating food. All this ‘exploring’ food & his body is leakage of his sexualisation of Preston.

All about him! Nothing about Preston having to endure being scared, cold & in danger. Just JMF focusing on his being uncomfortable watching it.

I don’t believe that he didn’t know it was 14 minutes long until it was played in court. I think it’s reasonable that the police only played a clip but I don’t think for one second they won’t have told him it was 14 minutes long. He knew about this in June 2025 and got back together with JV.

I did think this would be how his defence would go though. Like I said yesterday, it’s his only play he’s got left - pretend he didn’t know, he wasn’t there, he had no reason to have concerns etc

Now he’s blaming Preston for the bruises by virtue of being clumsy. JMF the only blameless one in his little fantasy happy family world. I need the prosecution to reduce him to dust on the stand. Also, look out JV, the bus is fast approaching and you’re going under it…

I wonder can they do dental matches for the bite mark? That would really clear it up
Bite mark evidence has been discredited in the UK.
It can be admissible but with caveats, particularly regarding identifying an individual perpetrator.

Absolutely wouldn’t ! Yuck I thought they were clean freaks too, who would let a baby eat whilst potentially having accidents at same time
In my opinion, and it’s a dark one, Preston potentially having bowel movements without a nappy on was all part of the perversion for them. They filmed it happening in the bath didn’t they. Of course, that’s not the only reason they wanted his private parts easily accessed.

And they tried to sell this ‘free willy time’ bull as a way to justify the fact that Preston was often without a nappy at home.

It's interesting he's only just paid proper attention to the videos now and suddenly realised they are inappropriate. Not in the moment they happened or the years after. No mention of how Preston would have felt, just how he felt.

Any caring humans immediate comment on seeing something like that would be to comment on how scared or upset he must have been. Not how angry they are to see it

Feel like he's only saying these videos are inappropriate now to throw Jamie under the bus. Anyone would see those and think that is so wrong something needs to be done. You can't ignore these things unless you are a monster.

He’s trying to distance himself from the photos and videos now and trying to show his ‘disdain’ for them. I hope the jury aren’t fooled.

He’s expecting people to believe he deleted photos of “his” adored and much missed deceased child because “his iCloud was getting full”. When you can pay monthly to increase the storage.

Seems to be a lot of "I didn't see it as inappropriate at the time but I wouldn't have done it" from JMF. 🤔

Two things - have any social workers given evidence?

And two - it makes very little sense to me from what JMF was saying about Preston not being able to crawl that he would have so many bruises.
Tht amy did at the first trial not sure if she has since its been a new jury

Why on earth is that offensive? Some people with additional needs don't understand when their behaviour may be inappropriate. I didn't say all. It's simply a fact and nothing to take offense to.
Shes a murderer whos had her kid removed at birth and u said you wondered if shed got additional needs due to her behaviour or how she acts

How on earth have you got that from what I said? I was obviously commenting on her attitude on social media in the way that's she's posting as if she doesn't appreciate it's inappropriate and giving a possible explanation.

Why on earth would you strip a baby naked to sit in his high chair and have his tea? Clothes off potentially yes, to not get them messy and stained but you certainly wouldn’t be removing his nappy also - IMO.
Agree.

My grandson was a messy eater and in summer was put in a high chair in nothing but a nappy - but AWAYS in a nappy.

I just isn't appropriate to have a naked child sitting at table, plus, what if they started touching their genitals, or dropped food on their genitals, and then picked it up and put it in their mouth? Or if they wee'd or poo'd? It's one think to wipe bean juice or gravy etc off a highchait=r - you don't want to be having to clean off poo every time.

Nobody puts a naked baby in a highchair.
