Just reading back JV version of Preston's final hours, he has a fifteen minute gap in mobile phone use, during this time he falls asleep and wakes up to Preston having a seizure and stopping breathing - he calmly films this and immediately goes to texting JMF about selling a kayak! There's another suspicious gap in mobile phone activity. He runs Preston a bath, he leaves him to look for underwear and pj's. The child falls in the water with only an ear visible. The bath sealant round the plug fails and drains the water ( the bath sealant round the side of bath failed earlier leading to the inappropriate photo of Preston) the bath seat magically moves to the sink. He changes Preston's nappy while he's fatally declining throwing the dirty nappy out if the window which is never recovered. Preston's hair magically dries on the dash to hospital then despite drowning there is no water in the lungs.
I think JV is cooked and looking forward to him explaining all this under cross examination.

There is a 45min phone call with JMF between the “seizure” video and him coming home. Yet I’ve not heard any explanation for what was discussed on this call yet. It’s a bit more than ‘what time will you be home’.

One thing I thought when reading all the dna testing posts earlier, where there were mixed sexual DNA found on various things -which they say could be transferred because they are in a domestic setting - was like, I don’t know about you guys, but there would not be loads of my husbands sexual DNA on things around our house - not even in the dirty laundry basket to transfer onto any of our children’s clothes They sound like a right dirty pair of tickets, in their jizzy house, and not “clean freaks” like they claim

Exactly!!!!! I find it really bleeping strange. On the cot? On his little trousers? Were their crusty bed sheets wrapped round the trousers or something? It’s just not plausible to me, even if they were at it like rabbits. Which tends to not be the case with a young baby that doesn’t sleep well! Maybe I live a sheltered life but I’m pretty sure my house isn’t covered in jizz 🫥 and certainly NOTHING that belongs to my children or lives in their rooms. Rank!

unfortunately I think the mixed dna is on the trousers and will have been in the vomit from a previous occasion.

I have a very vanilla life. Mr Mice and I have never used sex toys, but each to their own. However if we had used them, they would have been washed EVERY SINGLE TIME! There's no way I'd be prepared to have jazz mouldering about on anything in a drawer or cupboard - and that's another thing - I wouldn't leave them where the dog could get them. What are they doing to the dog? They'd be hidden and locked away where neither kids nor animals could get hold of them

When there are young children in the house you make sure that anything they shouldn't touch is put out of reach - that goes for sex toys, if you use them.

I'm glad JV was so arrogant as to take the stand so now he can be cross-examined. Seems to be a pattern with these zero-empathy, zero-conscience types of defendant. So there's a good chance of not only watching him spluttering to explain all the obvious lies but of seeing the mask slip in real time.

Now and again I watch these 'Uncanny' type shows for fun and they sometimes feature supernatural creatures that try to imitate humans - that's what this pair remind me of with their 'cheeky wee boy' 'special time with Daddy' stuff - like they've heard people talk about babies like this and are just using the words without understanding the reality.

If JV hadn't taken the stand, the jury would surely swiftly convict on that grim material evidence and the mad inconsistencies anyway, and if one of these two is damned, they both are. Usually defence will suggest alternative explanations for individual pieces of evidence but I'm finding it harder to imagine how that'll work in this case.

So instead I'm imagining the governors of HMP Wakefield and HMP Frankland both wondering if they have the budget to add a further segregation bunker on to their existing Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise wings.

Exactly. I know people have endlessly unpicked the “cheeky wink” thing, but like you say, he’s using the words to embellish a lie without knowing a great deal about how a one year old would behave.

If he’d said cheeky face/look/expression it wouldn’t have been so jarring.

This is the first trial I've followed where ive thought, if this was my child on trial, I would cut them loose. They would be dead to me. I’ve always understood why parents continue to support their child (Letby being the first that comes to kind) but this? I could never be around them or want to see them ever again.

Here’s the timeline. It does say there are number of calls to JMF in that final 2hr window but it only mentions the final one and that’s it’s ‘short’.

I wonder if the prosecution will suggest that the phone activity was performative - he certainly wouldn’t be the first defendant to fake phone activity to try and cover themselves.

I decided to just take a little break after the reporting yesterday. This trial is A LOT.

I 100% think JMF is guilty and I really do hope there is enough that’s been presented in court to convict him of all 3 charges. I do worry that there is more RD for the SA charge but if they have gone into more details regarding the mole injury and it’s was at the same time as the cot photo and JMF was there - I can’t see how they wouldn’t find him guilty. I think the cross examination of JMF, should he take the stand, will be extremely important.

Re the discussions of indecent images of children. I am surprised as it does seem a logical thing to happen - consume content and then commit CSA. However, that isn’t always the case. Some pdfs consume material and never act, some act but don’t consume ‘external’ material and some do both. The extreme pornography may cover the escalation but that particular charge doesn’t cover child abuse images. It would have been a separate charge.
I did go down a bit of a rabbit hole the other week about how some people that commit child sex abuse don’t actually fit the recognised DSM definition of being a pdf. Some it isn’t about the attraction at all, it’s purely about the power SA gives a person. I did find that interesting.

They did touch upon their own sex life. In some texts between the men it suggests they’d stopped having sex but JV said they sorted that. I think they were suggesting if their sex had stopped since Preston, how was his dna on the toys? Additionally, JV mentioned having a locked album full of explicit photos of him and JMF as he said something like if he was taking photos like that of Preston he’d had hidden them. Just a very weird thing to say imo.
