They would have seen if there was an injury to his bottom. When my children were babies the first thing I did in the morning upon us waking is change their nappies, the fact he’s saying he didn’t change it before taking Preston to JV’s mum is ridiculous and his way of squirming out of it. He knows what he did.

I’d say it’s pretty normal to give the entire bottom area a wipe over every nappy change, because the skin will have been in contact with urine. Common sense really. So no, it’s not remotely possible that a horrible injury wouldn’t have been immediately apparent.
It's interesting to me that immediately after, they went to their respective parents and contact was through JMFs mother.
This leads me to question whether perhaps JMF didn't know.?

Is it possible JMF was refusing to speak to him because he DID suspect he had hurt Preston initially.
Could he have been persuaded by JV that the fact he was walking around a free man, indicated the police 'had no evidence' or what they did have was 'flimsy' and they were 'clutching at straws'.
Of course I'm thinking of the lines JV would be feeding JMF.
Would anyone believe their partner was capable of such heinous acts? Or could they be persuaded maybe the police had got it wrong?

The only thing that puts me against that he may have suspected JV and then been persuaded otherwise is the fact that when then faced with evidence, videos and - to anyone else - obvious facts about what sadly happened, he's stayed with JV!
In the update of 11:09, there is a specific reference to “you and your partner” sexually assaulted Preston (cot photo). I hope they’ve gone into a bit more detail in the court about this as I think that outright statement, the photos, the fact their still together might just dispel any reasonable doubt for the SA charge for JMF.

The poor little tykes are usually soaked if they've slept through - and if they haven't slept (and Preston was a poor sleeper), I'd have thought that they'd have checked his nappy a few times just to make sure he was comfortable - it's one of the first things you check when you pick a baby out of a cot. If it's wet, or soiled you change them,; if it isn't and stays dry for more than 3 hours or so you make sure they aren't dehydrated. and offer them a drink You don't just leave them 12 hours in the same nappy because you "haven't got time". I can't imagine how sore Preston's raw little bottom would have been in a drenched, acidic nappy.
His wording choices such as "Nothing has been done to Preston" rather than "I didn't do anything to Preston" smacks of dissociation.

Do you think Preston’s fractured elbow was a cheeky accident with a cheeky boy in his car seat oh wait.. cot.. and he winked and went off to sleep? Because JMF is there and backs up JVs account.
do you think Preston really hung himself, legs dangling, over the cot, turning blue, photographed for over 3 minutes, with what looks like semen coming from his mouth, in the spot a mixed sperm and saliva sample would be taken and JMF was just downstairs making a roast? Coming up just to say cheeky boy and lay this blue lipped blue tongued child back down to sleep?
If you don’t believe either of those versions of events then JMF is guilty. And if you think that he was guilty on those occasions but not on the day of Preston’s death, why not? Because tests show Preston was dead long before their version of events could make any sense. JMF has helped JV out with the bull story because he was totally and utterly complicit and participated in the abuse of Preston.

I worked in a day nursery years ago and I can remember babies being brought in with their nighttime nappy still on, anyone who has cared for a baby knows a nighttime nappy when they see one.

Am I right in thinking the interview where JMF was shown the evidence and videos was June 25? Immediately before they were both remanded?
So until that point he (may have?) had limited information.
We haven't heard from JMF yet with regards relationship status post remand and trial, only JVs assurance they are still together?
I don't know, purely devil's advocate but I just don't think we'll have much information surrounding JMF and what we do have is very patchy.
You may be correct - I just found the below from updates on 18th May;
On June 11, 2025, Mr McGowan-Fazakerley was arrested on suspicion of child neglect, sexual touching and allowing the death of a child. He was interviewed under caution at Blackpool Police Station.
The first of his interviews is now being played to the jury.
I didn't realise he wasn't arrested until so late, in the investigation.
If you can see his lips are blue on a video then they would have looked even more so in real life. It's simply inconceivable you wouldn't notice.
