I'm still really struggling with sickness 😭 12 weeks and not even food is helping with the nausea. Just want to bloody enjoy this pregnancy and it's not happening 😂 been up all night last night being sick now with a migraine to tow. Struggling to even keep water down 🙄

You can book, they just have to say it’s for medical reasons. It’s a loophole really but one I don’t think anyone minds people taking advantage of 🥰
Ahh okay thanks! I just looked and actually they say they are "only" allowed to go ahead for medical reasons but reassurance falls under this. Which I guess it is true, with limited antenatal care and many of your midwife appointments going over the phone rather than in person reassurance is needed more than ever.

Have you spoken to your GP about anti sickness medication? A real concern would be dehydration, and they are very new to avoid that. You can usually drop them a urine sample and they will do some tests, and let you know if you need to pop over to a&e for some immediate care if dehydrated. But long term, they can prescribe a variety of anti sickness tablets that can help. I’ve had mine since 8 weeks this time.

I've got some but they don't seem to be doing much 🙄 I contacted the midwife and she said if after 48 hours I can't keep water down then I've to go to a and e but that seems like an awful long time?!

It does. I would go anyway if you feel that you are dehydrated. Just lie and tell them 48 hrs. Your GP can give you different meds for the sickness if the ones you have don’t work. I take cyclizine which worked well last pregnancy, it totally took it away, but this time it just takes the edge off, I still feel crap most of the time (although slowly getting better now at 24 weeks 👍🏻👍🏻).

Its a bit dodgy if WTTW is doing 4D scans under the label of reassurance. A standard USS is one thing but a 4D scan is definitely not for reassurance, its a high price point scan which earns them lots of cash. Don't flame me, I know everyone wants access to these things but it's a bit unfair on the sonographers being exposed to customers and their partners and potential COVID risk in the name of a 4D scan. (Unfair from an employment point of view) I had a scan in the first lockdown because I'd been bleeding for 9 days and EPAU wouldn't see me, turned out I'd practically completed a miscarriage by that point so there are good reasons for a private scan in lockdown but I'm not sure a 4D one is one in my book.

Obviously others will have their opinion, I'm just surprised they are exploiting a loop hole by being fast and loose with the reasons for the scan.

The midwife said to go to A+E? That seems like a terrible plan given the current COVID situation. Is there any numbers for you to call maternity triage/EPAU to get seen directly?

I don’t know if they are still doing 4d. Just that they’re open under the medical scan ‘loophole’. I say loophole because much of the time it’s people wanting rather than needing to see baby - you don’t need a referral or good reason I don’t think, but I guess you could say any scan is always reassurance to some degree.

I think growth scans etc can definitely be defined as reassurance, and early scans especially as I really benefited from that. But some have said they are still getting their 4D one in lockdown which is a bit dodgy of WTTW to be honouring those bookings

Hey
I’ve felt sick since before I got my positive test at 3 weeks. It’s just gradually got worse and worse. My mom mentioned ginger but I really don’t like it. I considered ginger tea but I feel like tasting something I don’t like will just add to feeling sick. I’m just gonna have to wait it out.
hey I had a scan yesterday to see how far I am she said between 5/6 weeks was a bit vague I could see the small tadpole on the picture they printed for me! I don’t feel sick but I keep feeling like I have vertigo. What about sugared ginger I actually love the taste of it. X

Ahh congrats that’s brill! Around the same as me and @elloelloello then :) do you feel better for having seen it and knowing whereabouts you’re at? I’ve never heard of sugared ginger I’ll have to see what I think.

She didn’t give me an exact date she gave me a picture to print off and said the movement was the heart beat the baby measures at 2.8mm so I still feel like I’m none the wiser really exactly but I can’t believe it’s real I didn’t have an internal just external the baby looked like a tadpole did yours look like that? ! My Nan used to give me sugared ginger pieces its an acquired taste but I love it. My mum said to eat plain crackers. I actually don’t feel sick at all just get dizzy sometimes xx

This is exactly me, also my pee is really dark no matter how much water I drink. Midwife said always be safer than sorry as UTI symptoms can differ in pregnancy so I gave in a sample to my GP the other day. It came back clear and he basically accused me of wasting time since I only had a couple of symptoms. I wasn't having any of that... Its my first pregnancy and I have a long history of UTIs so of course I'm going to be cautious and I said as much to him as well.
Mine is really dark as well. It says on my medical refferal that my doctor sent to the hospital continuous UTI’s cause I dealt with them on and off for about 2 years every other month I had one haven’t had one in a while but read your prone to them during pregnancy and you can’t be too careful. I’ve thought I’ve had them a few times and my sample always came back clear so the nurse said to me it’s probably pressure from the baby lying on it or my uterus is putting pressure on it. It’s not there constant either the way a UTI is but it felt similar

Dark urine isn’t a symptom of UTI, it’s hydration related or can be due to jaundice (you’d have yellow eyes/skin)

Yeah my 4D one is still going ahead next weekend - I just have to tick a box to say I’m there for reassurance...

I should add I already paid a deposit and it’s my last chance to have a 4D scan (once we’re out of lockdown I’ll be too far gone to see anything really) so I’ll be going ahead with it. I do think it’s dodgy that they’ve managed to skirt the rules by getting you to tick a box, so to speak, but have personally weighed up my own risks and I’m choosing to proceed.

Aw sorry to hear that. Keep an eye on if and if it gets unbearable tell your gp/midwife.
I have had on and off nausea but not actually been sick and it’s passed really fast.
The taste isn’t great but when I feel sick I drink twinings detox tea and it sorts me right out, not the best taste but does the trick x

Yay I’m soooo happy for you!! And your tiny tadpole ❤ When you have your twelve week scan it’ll be magical - seeing baby having a party in your tummy. So so pleased for you x
