Had my 12 week scan today. Measuring 13 weeks. Been told baby has too much fluid at back of neck measuring 5.3mm. Got to wait on blood test results then keep testing for chromosome issues if comes back high chance. Said other issues could include heart defects.
I’m devastated. I can’t find any postive stories online.
Sorry your going through this after your scan, I hope you have a healthy pregnancy and you’re baby will be ok ❤

I can't imagine what you are going through, this was my biggest fear.
I know it's not possible for everyone but you could you have a harmony or other DNA test for accuracy? Its about 7-10 day turnaround.
Have they offered the CVS yet, you can have this now privately too? 3 days for definitive answer I believe.
When I was researching it, I found that the nuchal scan alone is not very accurate at all.
Also, the 1/100 quoted stat of miscarriage risk in Amniocentesis or CVS is misleading as usually the procedure is performed because the baby is at risk or poorly already so would have been lost even without the procedure.

@Jg182 I don’t have any experience of this but sending you love x

@Kitt let us know how you get on, great that the GP took you seriously and you are getting seen.

@Chickenandgravy when I see my consultant around 14-16 weeks the midwives do urine and blood pressure, then consultant does a scan and a chat about risk factors and general bits and bobs. Obviously not sure if yours will be the same, though!

They have said if the results come back high chance of chromosome issues that the nhs will do a dna test which is 99.9% accurate so I’m assuming similar to harmony. They did mention a CVS too. She said placentas at the front so would make cvs easier to do. Then if all comes back fine they will take a closer look at heart for defects.
This is what I was dreading too, but I still can’t quite believe it’s happening to us. Just really not sure how I’m gonna get through this next few weeks, my mental health is bad anyway and anxiety is though the roof.

Aw thank you!! Tbh I’m going to speak to my midwife tomorrow about my sickness as I got told by the EPU at 8 weeks I had hyperemesis but they wouldn’t put me on a drip because I didn’t have ‘enough’ ketones in my urine. 9 weeks down the line I’m still suffering badly and I’m so dehydrated and now getting pains where I think my kidneys are it’s doing me in. Can’t believe they wouldn’t give me fluids. Dunno what my midwife can do but all my GP said was ‘go to the A&E’ which I wasn’t comfortable with cos it’s swarming with covid around here
Ketosis is no longer a criterion for assessing severity if HG so they are wrong to tell you that. I’d call maternity triage and they will hopefully reasses you and bypass ED

I just had my scan and they said it’s very early and I may be less than 5 weeks, but the pregnancy is there and growing in the correct place 😭 I have to go back in a week or so for a better look but it looks promising! ❤
That sounds so promising! It must have been such a relief to know it’s progressing in the right direction. Sending a sprinkle of baby dust your way ✨ keep us updated ❤

No way really. That’s so bad then. The EPU sent me home basically telling me I wasn’t dehydrated enough!! I was really suffering too. Then when I raised it I was told to go to A&E. 😫

Im seeing midwife tomorrow so I’ll bring it up with her too see if she can suggest something

Do you have any symptoms like light headedness on standing or a racing pulse? As these are also signs of dehydration. Agree with the back pain need to rule out a UTI. Has anyone got to the point of giving you anti sickness tablets

They gave me a cylozine injection which gave me a few hours of relief and then just a packet of the same tablets which didn’t work at all. I then was jumping through hoops just to speak to someone so gave up and just got on with it.

not so much light head but my hands and sometimes legs feel wobbly if I’ve not eaten but that goes away as soon as I have something so I was thinking blood sugars low or something

I had the wobbliness the whole pregnancy with my second.
It was horrible.
I was doing my shopping one day and just passed out!
Scared me so much going back to work because I had to be on my feet 8 hours a day

Worth getting assessed again if you are still struggling. There are other drugs they can try other than cyclizine

Hi everyone, thanks for kind messages. Just got home after being at hospital all evening. Had blood tests and internal examination as they were concerned about ectopic pregnancy. Doctor happy with my examination for me to go home. Should get a phone call in the morning with blood test results. If HCG levels over 1000 then I’ll have a scan tomorrow. If under 1000 I’ll have another blood test on Thursday to check they have progressed in 48 hours as they would expect them to. I’m taking tomorrow off work to rest and wait for results.

Oh, they discovered the spotting is being caused by something (can’t remember name) which doctor not concerned about. It’s where there are cells that should be inside the cervix that have moved to outside the cervix, he could see them clearly during my examination. He said that these cells are much more sensitive and more prone to bleeding but nothing to be concerned about. He said it’s like I’ll get spotting caused by them every now and then and I shouldn’t be concerned unless bleeding gets worse.

So feeling like things are looking ok, just waiting for results tomorrow to see where we go from here.

Been refreshing this page all night hoping it was good news!

That's great that Dr let you home, fingers crossed your blood results are okay.
Good you have an answer to the spotting and it's not something to be overly worried about. Take care of yourself tonight x

Ok call from the hospital. Got a scan at 12:30. They said if my hcg level is over 1000-1500 they’ll do a scan and mine is 18,000. What the heck. So I’m in a flap and getting ready to go to the hospital. I’ll let you all know how it goes!
