Me! I'm not due till July so I'm thinking surely there'll be a time when shops open before then although the news lately is not the most reassuring! Pram and car seat are the biggest things I'm worried about especially pram. I really need to try them out in person as I'm the type of person who struggles to open and close ironing boards so I need a pram that doesn't stress me out opening and closing it!

I've read lots of rave reviews about the Uppababy Vista and some of the icandy range but again everyone's needs and budgets will be different so it's really difficult.
im also due in July, and hoping there’s time to look in shops. I have literally no idea where to start!
anyone know how long they take to order in?

I think I read somewhere up to 6-8 weeks to order in? But obv depends what and where you order from.

Have you bought anything at all yet even just a token item of clothing? I feel like if I do I will tempt fate so I haven't yet. Also wondering when is a good time to start practicing hypnobirthing techniques and also online antenatal classes etc.

I’ve got an Uppababy Vista (well, collecting it next month) after friends raved about it and every review I read basically said it was the best pram you could buy. Played with it in the shop and didn’t take me long to decide to get it. Heard good things about iCandy Peach too, from a friend but Uppababy was prettier and much easier to collapse down. Hope you figure it out soon! Car seat is most crucial as you can’t leave hospital without it. As someone else has said you can always try a sling if you don’t get the pram sorted in time but I’d hope some shops will reopen before July

I started hypnobirthing with Positive Birth Company at the start of my second trimester. Also ordered their Postpartum digital pack too. Have NCT booked this month (due mid March)

My cousins had an uppababy and she loved it!
Ergobaby do quite a few giveaways if you follow them. I loved the sling and carrier and will def use them this Time round

we have brought nothing yet. We have our 12 week scan tommorow (I’ll be 13 weeks). I just feel like I don’t know where to start with buying bits tbh.
I really need to start thinking about everything... Iv started nothing yet... feel like I’m just surviving each day with the sickness and exhaustion.

Awkward question 🙈 I’m 22 weeks and have been awake all night with pain/pressure in my bum. Has anyone else has this, should I be worried? I also have a little cramping in my legs. I’ve tried searching online but can’t really see much info. Totally freaking out as I’ve heard that it can be a sign of labour but it’s obviously way too early for that. I can still feel baby kicking away and had low placenta at 20 week scan xx

I wait until at least 30 weeks to buy anything because I just worry too much about things going wrong.
My partner lost a baby late on so he's very cautious about buying things before then too

Sounds partly normal and partly like SPD/PGP have you had a read on them?

You absolutely don’t need to buy anything before 30 weeks. Even before or at 30 weeks if you had baby then you wouldn’t be coming home the same day and with prime and next day deliveries everywhere there’s no hurry. Make a short list or an Amazon baby wish list so you have a good idea and keep an eye out for deals. My cousin who’s due in June bought her change bag before Xmas, 50% off in Jan sales. Same thing happened with other items 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m personally not buying one until I know if I’ll be able to breast feed so I’ll know what compartments I’ll want.
Plus if you buy non clothes items now and anything is wrong with it you’ve taken 6 months of your warranty and beyond the return period.

FWIW I don’t think you could go far wrong with an Icandy, Bugaboo or Uppababy. Based off trying them out, friend’s recommendations and actually going out with friends with them.
There’s a gorgeous looking Ickle Bubba one, it’s absolutely impossible to use! I’ve heard the same about silver cross.
For me, having had a play with them and I understand a lot of people would disagree, I’d rather have a 2nd hand £1k pram thats user friendly, robust etc than a cheaper brand new. I’m seeing a lot of barely used 2nd hand ones now too as people haven’t been able to go anywhere.

I feel like instamums with their complete nursery, feeding systems, prams etc make it seem normal but mort of the older generation wouldn’t dream of buying anything until quite far into pregnancy.

I'm just worrying about needing to find somewhere new to live by end of February, haven't even thought of buying anything yet for the baby due in May. Prams are the least of my worries. 😅 I’ll most likely wing it and buy most of my stuff online anyway.

Sorry what does that mean? 🙈 first pregnancy and clueless. I had some pubic/pelvic Pain and mentioned to the midwife and she said it could be that and to a elf refer to maternity Physio if it got any worse but it didn’t it got better and wasn’t bothering me much x

I’d really recommend having a read through the NHS website pregnancy pages. It will help awareness of the things that are just normal and the things that can indicate problems and need checking. It’s a good resource.

Sending lots of love. Hopefully you will start to start feeling better, even if just less tired, soon.
Don’t worry about buying stuff. With my first I didn’t buy anything until past 28 weeks

I think it really depends on your local area! I sent a message to my GP and they called me back immediately and scheduled me an appointment with the community midwife when I’ll be 7 weeks (next Monday!) but am sure others have had to wait until 8 weeks before they get any contact at all. I guess mine clearly wasn’t too busy!

I feel for you - I’m the same! Just so tired from the moment I wake up. First day back WFH too today which doesn’t help 😕 hope the midwife calls you back soon - it’s so rubbish being left in limbo with no idea of next steps!

We have self referral here atm, so I didn’t hear from anyone until I got a date for my 12 week appointment (I was prob about 10 weeks at the time).

I think that is what I have to do I rang up left details and that’s it until they call back issue I have is I am really not sure how far I am because I have such long cycles & erratic periods I don’t know if I should book an early scan just to see what’s going on in there x
