As someone who has had to have all my babies forcibly removed using various instruments, it always interests me greatly that some labours are so quick!
same here!!
I thought the more babies you had the quicker it would get due to your uterus already being stretched but no i still spent an entire day in labour with my last (4th) child and i still had to have a vacuum extraction!
My guess is being of a petite build with i guess a smaller than average pelvis does not help!!
How i ever managed to birth an 11 pound baby (my 3rd son) naturally i will never know!
Though i did have the lovely experience of having my legs forcibly being held up around my head and my baby being literally pulled out of me...oh the fun of being a mother...
such memories but its instinct isn't it when push comes to shove you'll find you are willing to go through just about anything to ensure a safe delivery...
I envy mothers who find it easy and quick to give birth but then again i'm lucky to have what i have and its also amazing how resilient we really are (and our babies) when it comes down to it
Also i don't believe the old midwifes tale about eating spicy food (just made me sick) or having sex (thanks but i felt like a hippo) to speed up delivery i tried but nothing worked (i tried but my children are all stubborn).
Maybe yoga helps? (to speed things up) Didn't help me for the birth but it did help for post natal recovery.
Anyway sorry to waffle on but its still the same isn't it eat well be as fit as you can be prepare but be prepared for surprises as well and things you cannot always control?
