After my sweep at 12 midday had contractions at around 12 midnight, worst feeling was felt like my bum was about to fall off! Unexpected ha
Called hospital told me to take paracetamol etc but ended up going in as felt I was in too much pain, was 9cm and gave birth a few hours later!
Super quick progression

Totally like nothing I expected (though I had no birth plan and tried not to read too much) but it’s beyond surreal having her here 😍
I’m so happy for you! Congratulations what wonderful news! Xxxx

Hi Guys,

Had my 36week scan this week and they said my little lady has a big belly! It can be a sign of GD but I tested for that already at 24wks and did not have it. I'm going for another GD test on Monday to makesure...doctor thinks she is just a little chunky monkey 😊 But has this happened to anyone on here? She is weighing 6.2lb atm. My first daughter was very small went 2 weeks over and she was 3kg.

I need to do this, have you got your bounty pack? I got a pack of newborn nappies in there so il be chucking that in my hospital bag xx

Ooh what’s a bounty pack?! X
If you download the bounty app. I also think you can sign up online. There's 3 free packs (or was last time) that you can collect from certain places like asda, argos, boots ect.
And has a bunch of stuff like a mini sudocrem pot, small pack of nappies ect

Ohhhhhh I think it might be a bit like Emma’s diary. I got one in my first trimester but didn’t rate it it I’m honest 😕 I’ll have a look at bounty though!

The latest Emma’s diary one is really good, loads of decent stuff, the bounty one is rit at the minute but they’ve gone into administration so I wonder if their partners have pulled out.

I’ve been reading hospital packing lists that say take a good half pack of nappies?! 10 at least but I have no idea if that’s correct.
By the time I’ve put them in, some inco pants/massive maternity pads I’ve filled half my bag

I’ve just found out the other day I should have been on the ‘smoking pathway’ since I was smoking in the 12 weeks before getting pregnant. As I’d stopped by the time of my booking appt they didn’t flag me. Already missed one growth scan I should have had but have one scheduled next week now. I’m quite happy about that tbh, just to confirm her position as much as anything else but I still find scans so nerve-racking.

As someone who has had to have all my babies forcibly removed using various instruments, it always interests me greatly that some labours are so quick!
same here!!
I thought the more babies you had the quicker it would get due to your uterus already being stretched but no i still spent an entire day in labour with my last (4th) child and i still had to have a vacuum extraction!
My guess is being of a petite build with i guess a smaller than average pelvis does not help!!
How i ever managed to birth an 11 pound baby (my 3rd son) naturally i will never know!
Though i did have the lovely experience of having my legs forcibly being held up around my head and my baby being literally pulled out of me...oh the fun of being a mother...
such memories but its instinct isn't it when push comes to shove you'll find you are willing to go through just about anything to ensure a safe delivery...
I envy mothers who find it easy and quick to give birth but then again i'm lucky to have what i have and its also amazing how resilient we really are (and our babies) when it comes down to it
Also i don't believe the old midwifes tale about eating spicy food (just made me sick) or having sex (thanks but i felt like a hippo) to speed up delivery i tried but nothing worked (i tried but my children are all stubborn).
Maybe yoga helps? (to speed things up) Didn't help me for the birth but it did help for post natal recovery.
Anyway sorry to waffle on but its still the same isn't it eat well be as fit as you can be prepare but be prepared for surprises as well and things you cannot always control?

Have you done the due date calculator on the nhs website?
It's not ideal about the drinking and smoking! But I'm sure that's in the past now you've found out? Someone I knew a few years ago smoked all the way through. Apparenly the doc told her it was more stressful on the baby to give up so just try and cut down.

That's really not good advice from the doctor and very untrue.

@Easilyannoyed congratulations. Please don't panic about the fact you have been drinking and smoking, your pregnancy is very new and the placenta has not formed yet. Are you taking folic acid? If not please start ASAP as this is important in reducing the risk of conditions such a spina bifeda. You need 400 micrograms daily (some women require more and I've attached a link). You also need vitamin d supplements. You can take multi vitamins but please make sure they are suitable for pregnancy. You can refer yourself to the midwife, they will be in touch by 10.weeks.to arrange scans and antenatal care. In regards to the smoking it is better to quit totally, though I know that's not easy. Your midwife can refer you to a smoking cessation service for support.

Congratulations again 😊

Do you know when your last period was?
The 3+ can mean any date. Just means you're over 3 weeks pregnant.

I think it's very normal to feel nervous and overwhelmed. I planned my first and still cried when I found out I was pregnant as it was scary. The NHS website has some fantastic advice
