How are you feeling? Is this your first? If not did you go overdue before? I went allll the way over with my first two. Those buggars had to be evicted 🤣 so I get the living on tenterhooks that comes with overdue-ness

First yes! I had to have extra scans early on to 26 weeks as my cervix is slightly shorter than average so had a higher chance (not hugely) of going into premature labour so I am slightly surprised to be at this point

Had belly pains last night but think that was caused by the 4 glasses of non alcoholic Prosecco and chocolates consumed 🤣

I’m sure you never expected to end up here then!! Great that premature labour never materialised, but hopefully you aren’t waiting too much longer. Make sure you keep us updated, it’s very exciting!

Don't worry even if you do leave the house and it starts, it isn't like you see in the film 😂
I went 40+6 with my first and that was only because I had to be induced because my waters started leaking 😂

Hey, just looking for some tips and Advice Please. I'm currently 35weeks preg on my 2nd child and had a emergency section on my first. Iv opted for a elected section in a few weeks as I just couldn't go through a birth like my first time again!
I'm a single mom and live alone with my 6yr old and I'm looking for any tips on anything you could suggest to help the healing process postpartum or any tips at all to make the process abit easier while home alone etc
Many thanks x

Congratulations to you too! Yes I told my parents straight away, only because I had my ectopic in March (collapsed at my mums, lost a tube and a ovary)!! So it’s important they know just in case.
We have ages to go that’s the only problem with finding out so early, I miss wine already 😂😂😂

I’m 21 and due my first baby in January! Absolutely terrified but so excited. She’s been measuring small throughout my pregnancy so hoping she has a little growth spurt in these last few weeks 😊 Anyone else had a baby young and have any advice? X

Is there anyone (friend or family) who can do some school runs for you? I found that massively helpful after my section, my husband and parents did all the school runs which meant I didn’t have to strain myself walking (it’s only 3 minutes, but still).

Practically speaking round the house having a few weeks of freezer food prepped so you can bung it in the oven without standing up for ages cooking. So things like curry, spaghetti bolognese, even just having loads of chips/chicken goujons etc to throw in. Won’t be the end of the world for a couple of weeks.
Similarly could you check out in your area if there is any help available in terms of someone coming in to the house from Sure Start or similar? If not, have you the funds to hire a cleaner for a few weeks?

I would explain to 6yo that you will need a bit more help with things eg loading and unloading the washing machine.

And try and let as much go as you can. It can all wait a few weeks, don’t wreck yourself trying to have a perfectly clean and tidy house, just remember it will be a few weeks and you’ll be back at it again.

Hello lovely people

I’m 26 weeks with my first. I haven’t gained much weight yet, which is good, because I was overweight when I got pregnant (unplanned pregnancy) so I’ve been trying to be careful.

I’m up late because over the last week I’ve stated getting really sharp achey muscular type pains between my legs (as in, my inner thighs/pelvis, not tina!) I’m very uncomfortable. The whole lower area (lower stomach and beyond) feels full of pressure, and uncomfortable. I’m peeing constantly, worse than I was in the 1st trimester which I thought was bad enough.

Because I haven’t really gained weight I wasn’t anticipating being so uncomfortable this early on. Is this just as to be expected aches and pains? (Obviously anything excruciating I would have raised with the midwife etc) feeling fed up!! If it’s just normal I’ll suck it up but defo didn’t expect to feel like this at only 26 weeks 🤣

I'm 25 weeks with my third baby, very close in gestation to you 😊 I'm heavy, achey and can't get anything if it drops on the floor 😂
It's good to keep active but your body is going through massive changes as well so you're going to feel different to your pre-pregnancy self.
I used to do a lot of hot flow yoga classes before my first baby then when I was pregnant with her I attended pregnancy yoga, I was surprised by how different the teacher instructed us on the the ways to move our bodies and the things that should be avoided when pregnant. In normal circumstances i would have recommended attending pregnancy fitness classes however we're not living in normal circumstances I can't imagine any of that is going on but there are so many videos on YouTube tailored to your stage in pregnancy. Getting out and walking is great although the days are short and the weather is pretty grim at the moment 😏. I really love using my birthing ball in the third trimester to sit on and do hip rotations, little bounces with wide legs, lean over and stretch out my back etc it really becomes my best friend 😂 and you can get used to different positions that you might use during labour. Remember to try and be kind to yourself and know when you need to rest.
I personally think that it can be hard to advise on preparing for a newborn because every baby is completely different. Preparing for your first baby is daunting. I'm sure you will think of everything that you need for the baby and more, try not to forget to plan to look after yourself. I’m not sure your situation but I had great help around me to help with cooking, cleaning, shopping etc for the first few weeks so that I could focus on resting, recovering and soaking up the newborn time with my little one. The support that you have around you can really make the world of difference. If you don't have easily available support meal plan now, get in snack options and have a good refillable drink bottle to make sure you are drinking enough water (especially if you plan on breastfeeding). I hope that helps in some way 🙏

I'm excited about having a spring baby, my other two are summer babies which was nice but spring means even more months of potentially dry sunny weather to take advantage of during the early days. I find if I'm tired or baby is restless then getting out for a walk makes such a difference and being in the pram usually sends newborns off to sleep 🤗

I am not pregnant... but wonder has anyone on here got vaginismus and been pregnant??

I have medical vaginismus (can have sex okay) due to a traumatic medical experience as a teen. I have spoken with my gyne about future pregnancy and of course the talk of internal examinations came up. I can't have a pap smear done now unless done under mild sedation due to my vaginismus. I was meant to start exposure therapy for it but then covid happened.

Anyway, if anyone also has this and been pregnant, I am wondering did you manage the internal exams?

My husband and I have been talking about having a baby recently. It would probably be in the next two years or so.

Yes I had this in my second trimester. It continued through to third trimester but didn’t get progressively worse and I would say I suffered most with it in the second trimester. I had good and bad days so hopefully you will get some respite - just remember not to overdo it on a good day!

Hi lovely I’m 26 weeks pregnant too ☺ I feel like I may be experiencing partly the same thing as you!
I have hardly gained a thing but last week I started waking up In the middle of the night with really bad pains, all in my hips and pelvis. Luckily I’ve got a couple of relatives who work in obs & gynae so asked them. They said it’s completely normal.
My main thing is I feel like my Pubic bone is almost splitting?! Again, normal apparently. It’s just your body getting ready for later down the line.
Maybe try sleeping with a pillow between your legs if you don’t already. Good luck and I hope it doesn’t cause you too much discomfort x

Morning all! Just wanted to share a tip from my last pregnancy if getting in and out a car is painful.... if you put a carrier bag on the seat and sit down sideways the carrier bag will help turn you into the seating position without having to open your legs to get in and out. I understand this probably makes no sense 🤪

🙋🏻‍♀️ Also feeling heavy and uncomfortable and sore over here (23 weeks with No4). Some days I wonder how I’ll make it to the end, then other days I think “oh I’m not even that big!” (Lies. I am always massive 🤣)

@Octopies best thing you can do to prepare is to read up on the 4th trimester and prepare yourself for normal newborn behaviour, IMO. But having a newborn for the first time is exhausting and overwhelming at times, it’s such a change so there isn’t much you can do to ready yourself!
