I had a polyp on my cervix during my first pregnancy, it would bleed after sex or if I’d strained for a 💩 (sorry for the overshare). It didn’t cause any issue really, and I had it removed in a simple procedure when baby was 6 months old. I went to the assessment unit a couple of times during the pregnancy just to check it was that that was bleeding and nothing else.
Hey sorry to badger you again about this....
I had a doctors app this morning about something unrelated to the polyp and she brought it up! She said that they might remove it and do a cervical stitch... it’s scared the life outta me... as the gynaecologist said they don’t like to remove them during pregnancy..... we’re you adviced not to have it removed during pregnancy? Did they give you the option?

I would go with what the gynaecologist said to you. Was this appt with your GP? They are unlikely to have superior knowledge to a gynaecologist on this specific issue and the gynaecologist would be the one listing you for any procedures.

yeah app was with gp, was just to get something to help me to to loo!
I did think the same, from all Iv seen they leave them alone til after pregnancy.... but you know when you just can’t help but worry when told differently

Yeah its unhelpful to give mixed messages! But I'd definitely just listen to your gynaecologist and obstetrics team for simplicity.

My best friend had the same, and she had to wait until after pregnancy to have hers removed. They wanted to do it 8 weeks after but as she had quite a lot of stitches and bruising, so they waited and did it at 16 weeks.

Just to add that they don't remove them during pregnancy as it can cause miscarriage or preterm birth

Thankyou, this is what I was initially told, that they wouldn’t remove until after birth. Was just abit shocked when gp she spoke up removing!!

I wouldn’t listen to the GP (unless they specialise in women’s health), and go with what the gynaecologist or midwife have said, they’ll be far more clued up on this.

I was told that although it may bleed again, it’s not really doing any harm, so they just leave it be until the baby’s born. It’s riskier to mess about with the cervix during the pregnancy. There was no choice, they just don’t do it.

They waited a couple of months for everything to have settle down after the birth. I had a very small procedure, a bit like having a smear, and she snipped it off, I had a bit of spotting for a couple of hours afterwards.

(I thought a cervical stitch was to keep the baby in if you have a short cervix and at risk of pre-term labour, totally different to a polyp).

Thankyou. I was just abit concerned when she said about removing. As all Iv read suggests not too!
Iv been struggling with constipation and the last few times Iv tried to go Iv been spotting again! Assuming this could be caused by the polyp!

Thanks for the info, really helps.... reassuring to hear that removing it won’t be an option as I’m really not keen on messing with it Aless it’s more of a danger then not.
Suppose I will just have to get used to the spotting.

Yes mine always used to bleed if I pushed for a 💩. Try not to stress too much, I know the sight of blood makes you panic though. I did go to the assessment unit a couple of times when I wasn’t sure if it was the polyp or not, so they’re there if you need them.

So this being my 3rd pregnancy to this point,
I've never had a similar pain so curious if others have 😂
I originally thought maybe it was the start of a UTI 🤔
But I keep getting a constant cramp right at the bottom of my stomach.
Originally it was getting worse if I needed to pee or had just peed... Now, it's every time I'm not sitting.
Even lying in bed, I get woken up with it 🤔
It lasts about half an hour at a time just 1 constant long cramp 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah they did say too straining can cause bleeding with it. The bleeding only seems to last an hour or so then really slow down and go brown... so hoping that’s a good sign it’s just one angry little polyp!

I had a polyp on my cervix during my last pregnancy, I was bleeding at 24 weeks. They did remove mine, it was painless and quick and I even had the joy of watching it on the screen. It stopped my bleeding.

How has it been for you all going to scans alone?
I went for mine yesterday and the women were lovely and made me feel so relaxed. All went fine and said baby had a strong heartbeat and I’m 13 weeks 3 days! 💛💛🥰🥰was just such a relief to know all seems ok and to see the scan xx

Did you get a choice to leave it or have it removed?

If you can book private first for sure.
We did this yesterday at just over 9 weeks and unfortunately had the bad news 😢
I now have to go to my local hospital for a scan on my own and talk through my options on how the baby will come
Out. Really scared to do this alone but there’s nothing I can do. I’m so glad my husband was there yesterday when we were told the news, and I didn’t wait to find out on my own.
I really hope everything goes amazing for you ❤
Oh gosh Iv just read this- I’m so sorry for your loss. Absolutely heartbreaking. Sending you lots of love and strength xxx

Told my mum today and she reacted exactly how I thought she would, like I’m 15 and up the duff.

‘Why would you do you that?! What you gonna do for money? (I earn more than her and my stepdad combined) You don’t have any family where you live. I’m so disappointed. I told Sharon at work that my kids are better than that and I’ll never have grandchildren!’

Tried to hold back the tears tbh.

Merry Christmas 😬 I hope you all have better and more supportive reactions.

Had my private scan today and everything was fine :) I felt so sick with nerves this morning after spending last night on google reading about peoples early scan experiences (stupid mistake) so feel super relieved! I'm measuring 11+ 1, baby was moving about loads on the scan, waving it's hands and legs and hiccuping! It was so lovely to see... then I was sick in my partners van on the way home which wasn't so lovely 😆
