How has it been for you all going to scans alone?
I think if this was our first it would've been hard. He came to everything with our first so feel fortunate for that. Hoping he can come to my 36 week growth scan but not holding my breath.

Checked my county’s maternity services website and it says you have to go alone to all scans. Obviously not due a scan for 9 weeks but I doubt it will have changed by then. My husbands gonna be so gutted, this is our first so it’s gonna be really hard. Although there is a private scan place just 5 mins walk from ours so I’m gonna book in there at 8 weeks and I think he’ll be allowed to come along there.

I’m awake at 4:30am cause I feel so sick!

39 weeks today! :D
Other half hasn't been allowed to come to a single nhs appointment and it's our first, but feeling grateful that he can be there throughout the birth and no restrictions on how long he can stay after baby is born.

We booked two private scans - one at 10 weeks and another just before 20 weeks so he could be there to see baby - not cheap but really worth it to have him there!

It’s been ok. I had a private one at 8 weeks which my husband came to. 12 week was alone which I could have done without but thankfully everything was ok. My MIL drove over and sat in the car park and waited for me as I was worried I’d be alone if something went wrong (husband works an hour away and was in theatre so not contactable). Luckily shortly before my 20 week scan they changed policy and my husband was able to come which was really nice as we found out the sex together. If he wasn’t allowed we would have had a private gender scan as I didn’t want to find out alone, didn’t feel like it would be the same.

I have a growth scan at 32/40 but don’t think my husband will come; hard to take time off work and I’ve heard by the point they’re so big and squished in that you can’t see much anyway. Now the baby is kicking that is the main bonding experience for my husband and he’s happy with that

If you can book private first for sure.
We did this yesterday at just over 9 weeks and unfortunately had the bad news 😢
I now have to go to my local hospital for a scan on my own and talk through my options on how the baby will come
Out. Really scared to do this alone but there’s nothing I can do. I’m so glad my husband was there yesterday when we were told the news, and I didn’t wait to find out on my own.
I really hope everything goes amazing for you ❤

So sorry ❤ I’m glad your hubby was with you - I agree, it’s no news to hear on your own. I hope you’re being gentle with yourself

My private scan on the 27th isn’t cancelled, so relieved as the rules have really tightened here.
Now I’m trying not to wish away Christmas but I just want to skip right to the scan and check everything is okay.

So sorry for your loss. It’s devastating ☹
Have they said you have to go alone? That seems very cruel considering they know you have already had bad news

Double check with your midwife if you can, just simply because both my counties website and the letter they send says to attend alone but partners were actually allowed!

Can anyone recommend any good books to read? I'm freaking out cos I'm worried I'm not going to know what to do (think I'm just having one of those days) like something that covers labour and the trimesters etc. I've had a Google but some seem blog like 🤔

Feeling so fed up tonight! Feeling my little boy kicking and moving away in my tummy is making me sad for him, bringing him into the world the way it is right now!
he’s due April but I’ve had some issues so he is likely to come early. I don’t know how I’m going to cope if he does come early and not have the support of friends and family cause I can’t see them!
I just don’t know what to say or do anymore

I’m sorry you’re experiencing all of this for the first time during a pandemic and all the extra worries and stresses it brings😔

Your little boy doesn’t know what is going on in the world. All he knows is you. He’s happy and cosy, and waiting to put a face to your voice. All of the worries about how you’ll cope, what you’ll do, looking after him, he doesn’t know any of that. He never will. All he will know is that he’s safe and warm and loved, and that he has the best mama in the world for him. And when he’s here, and you’re sitting cuddling him and looking at that wee face looking up at you, you’ll know it too. We’re all just winging it by a thread sometimes, but all our babies care about is that we love them ❤

This isn’t my first baby but I feel the same. I’m due in 3 weeks and I hate thinking what it’s gonna be like.

No matter what tier I’m in at the time my mum is moving in with us in the new year so I don’t have to worry about childcare for my other 2 children when I go into labour. I’ve stuck to all the rules but for the sake of my anxiety and mental health I’m doing what needs to be done to help myself.

Being pregnant can be stressful enough, but at times like this, I don’t think people not experiencing it can appreciate how hard it is.

Holliday Tyson Midwife on YouTube goes through the process really well IMO

Thank you for your kind words. They brought a tear to my eye 🥲
You are so right! I will do absolutely anything for him and make sure that he is safe. I am lucky I have a very supportive husband, but even those who are the support for someone else, also need support.
it’s a worrying time but hoping that by spring things will at least be a bit different so baby can actually interact with other people.

Do whatever you feel is right. No judgement here!
I hope it all goes well for you ❤❤❤
