Well I just went for a scan, saw a heartbeat but they said its measuring as 6 weeks not 7 and also apparently its lower down in the uterus than they expect :(
I'm not really sure what that means so am now feeling a bit flat. They have advised I have another scan in a weeks time
I had a scan at 7 weeks with my 2nd, I was moved back to 6 weeks, Then at my 12 week scan was moved forward a week again. They’re so small at this stage and a heartbeat is a positive sign. Not sure what baby being lower down means but try and stay positive 🥰

I had exactly the same with my second pregnancy as I had an early scan for bleeding at 6 and a half weeks and it measured 5.
That baby is now a 3 year old 😊

6-7 weeks is very early to be accurately estimating gestational age (it’s possible but not as accurate which is why NHS dating scans are done after 10 weeks). My friend got her dates shifted by a whole 2 weeks at her 12 week scan even though she had been actively trying and tracking her periods. She was utterly devastated by it at the time, but nothing came of it and she is due to deliver the baby next month. Unless you had IVF it is very common to be out on your dates by a week. Congratulations on your little heartbeat and I hope you don’t worry too much in the wait for your next scan xx

Hi 👋 I’m 38+2. Due on Christmas Day! So scared lol
Don’t be scared!! What is it that’s worrying you? Is this your first baby? It’s absolutely normal to feel nervous though, it’s such a big thing is about to happen to your body, and your life!

Right now the birth, I’m having panic attacks over it. I Don’t have a lot of support and I don’t feel ready. I’m under perinatal mental health care but don’t feel it’s been helping much.

Sending you lots of love. The idea of labour can be very scary, it’s so out of our control which makes it incredibly daunting. Nobody is ever ready for labour, even when I had done it before I wasn’t ready because it's such an unknown. Is there any sort of birth you think you would feel comfortable with? For example, would the control factor of having a c section allow you to feel less panicked? I think if that were the case, you'd have no trouble asking for one given that it is clearly having such a big impact on your mental health.

Can you ask your midwife for other options for help? If the perinatal mental health team aren’t working out for you, perhaps another route may be something that you could explore? I don’t have much knowledge in the area, but I definitely recommend discussing it more with your midwife and letting her know just how bad things are for you. You deserve to go to the end of your pregnancy with as little fear as possible. Although I know that you are close to due date and things move slowly at the best of times in the nhs, let alone during Covid and Christmas.

I am sorry to hear you don’t have much support, that must be very difficult when you feel so lost. Xx

Different people have different experiences with this but I found hypnobirthing really helped me with my first pregnancy/labour. Not only the breath work to help during labour but the knowledge that you gain through the course, understanding the process that your body and your baby goes through during birth gives reassurance. There are guided meditations and affirmations that you can listen to on sound cloud by Katherine Graves which I found useful.

Research your options and get to understand your body. Your body knows what it needs to do and I'm sure you will have amazing support from the midwives present.

I watched a YouTube video the other day, an hour or so on the process of labour. The one main thing I took away from it is that your body knows what to do. You can help it with different positions etc but in the same way it’s just grown a whole baby without us really having much input, it knows how to get it out too x

It's true, it's actually incredible the processes your body goes through during labour, perfectly designed for the job in hand 😊 If all is going well our bodies can really do most of the work all we then need to do is to breath our way through the contractions 🤪 This was definitely my experience during my second labour however I know that every labour and birth experience will be unique.

Is there anything in particular that’s worrying you? Feel free to ask away - we can all help you and give you some reassurance 😊 xxx

It took me a very long time to get pregnant with number 1, then I thought I was extremely lucky to have had number 2, then 3 came along a lot quicker than expected 😂
This was me! Really difficult to have number 1 and 2 and then we had 2 more little surprises!

So pleased to have found this thread!
I’m 16 weeks with my first, I’ve been so uncomfortable this week feeling a lot of stretching in my stomach and hip pain. We’ve booked a private gender scan for 27th Dec as my partner can’t attend my 20 week scan. Can’t wait to find out as I think it’ll all seem a bit more real then as at the moment I still have days when I question if it’s really happening!

I have anterior placenta so I’ve only recently started feeling movements, but baby just gave me the biggest kick that I even felt from the outside for the first time 🥰

I have an anterior placenta this time for the first time ever (4th baby) and it’s been so weird not feeling lots. Baby is breech so all I do feel is right down low, but feeling a lot more these days. It’s lovely feeling them from the outside too 🥰

I had an anterior placenta with baby 2 and didn’t feel her until about 22 weeks, so when I hadn’t felt this baby by 18 week I suspected the same and I was right. I did start feeling tiny movements by 19-20 weeks but last night was super strong.

I’ve had an anterior placenta will all 3 of mine. Mainly feeling kicks higher up, but they didn’t start being really strong until after I was about 22 weeks.

I thought I would join too ☺ Im 10 weeks with my first and have my 12 week scan on xmas eve 🎅🏻
Had a private scan at 8 weeks with my partner which was lovely but we’re told he can’t come into the nhs 12 week scan.
Ive had sickness and tiredness so I havnt even thought about reading any books or buying any bits yet, and I feel terrible like I should be more organised 😔
Also tried to buy a house my with partner as first time buyers but no mortgages available for us due to covid ☹
Really enjoying this thread as I felt like I was left to just get on with it and didn’t have much communication so thank you ladies xx
Hi I’m 8 weeks and have been thinking of getting a private scan just before Christmas as were both off and thought it would be special. We’re also not allowed partners into the 12 week scan and can’t imagine not having hubby there. Do you think it was worth it? I will be just over 9 weeks. We feel it would be special to tell close family over Christmas if everything seems fine. Do people think that silly? I’m really in two minds and would love any advice X
