Tenderly popping in here to say hi. I'm about 6weeks and 2days and incredibly nervous. Sickness has kicked in big time and I've struggled to keep much down the past few days, although I've just managed to eat cold McDonald's chips, which I'm taking as a win. Has anyone had a private reassurance scan at around 7weeks and can tell me how they found it and what they saw? ❤
Awww hey Prawny!!!

I was the exact same, mine was predominantly nausea with a little bit of sickness, but it felt debilitating. Just eat what you can and try and make sure you keep your folic acid, etc. down. I know it's hard, but literally live off cold chippies if that's what gets you through. No judgement for what you eat at any stage of pregnancy.

I had a private scan at 8 weeks and could clearly see the beans and their yolk sacs. One looked like a little babushka wrapped🤣🤣. We saw heartbeats too!! That's the main thing I find, as long as you can see a heartbeat that's one worry eliminated until you countdown for the next scan.

When I got into my 8 week booking appt they put me on anti-sickness (metoclopramide which wasn't my first choice, try and get xonvea if you need it) and it has been a game changer for me. I feel like a semi-normal functioning human minus the exhaustion and I can feel when the meds are tapering off as the nausea comes back full force.

Went to the hygienist today and despite it being in my notes that I’m pregnant and me turning up looking large, round and sweaty, they missed the memo. She was surprised by how much my gums bled and surprised when I told her the scale and polish was a bit savage today. Whilst she had a million tools in my mouth putting that toothpaste stuff in she goes ‘it might depend on where you are in your cycle’ so I patiently wait till I can speak to tell her I’m pregnant and she is like ‘well this explains EVERYTHING’. On the way out I check and it is definitely in my notes (they tried to bump my checkup appointment to next year so it was they first/only place I pulled the ‘actually I’m pregnant’ card to get an appointment.

Anyway. My teeth feel clean but my mouth does feel ouchie. And I dunno if I feel a bit put out that I wasn’t clocked as pregnant despite a big bump, and the fact that I had to waddle slowly up the stairs puffing and panting, but was just written off as fat and sweaty instead of fat, sweaty AND pregnant. It’s not even that hot here but I was done with life by about half 3 🤣🤣
I had the hygienist the other week and was surprised that it didn't do a big red flashing PREGGO light when he opened my notes either, but thankfully I was able to shoehorn it in when we were doing initial chit chat. Was also surprised at how much more it HURT, my teeth were JANGLING during and after, I'm a weirdo and usually find a scale and polish quite relaxing 😂

I get growth scans as part of the red/high risk pathway (for being old and fat 🤣) and so his position is noted in that Badger app thing. I asked the last sonographer specifically and she said it was too soon to be concerned that this was how he was going to stay. I just hope he gets himself punted around before he gets too big!

I’ve been terrible and not done any stretching. My pelvic floor is actually pretty decent even though my bladder is not. I should start doing some sort of wee preggo yoga routine off YouTube or something really!
I have a growth scan at the end of august. But I kinda wish I had one sooner. I had more appointments and checks last time I was pregnant vs this time. It’s really strange.

I’m sure little dude will move.

The junior doctor I had at the end of my first day sitting being prodded and poked in the Day Unit blithely said "and it might be you've some sort of kidney abnormality that's only come to light with the physical stress of pregnancy so we'll refer you for an ultrasound" and then looked completely floored when I burst into tears because in my head (that had been sat in a cubicle for hours on that day it was 34C in the South) I was suddenly thinking "omg my kidneys don't work I am going to be on a dialysis machine for the rest of my life wtf" and he was like "I mean that's highly unlikely but it'd be negligent if we didn't check" 😂😂😂
Haha I genuinely don’t think any of them are doing anything except being well meaning and sort of regurgitating everything they think it could or might be based on the symptoms you have, they sound a bit like they’ve memorised the textbook 😂 the young woman I had was very efficient and professional but hasn’t quite nailed her bedside manner yet, she seemed pretty surprised I was upset that I’d suddenly gone from everything looking fine but they just needed to run internal examinations as is protocol to being told I might need to stay in at the very least if not be transferred to another hospital…I’m absolutely sure she was just young and fresh and probably under a ton of pressure but she wasn’t very reassuring 😂

At what point do you say that you need something for pregnancy sickness? I'm exhausted, fed up of throwing up constantly and seem to constantly be in bed. I feel like I'm not coping 😪. 9weeks today. Nothing really seems to stay down, I'm miserable about it and feel guilty asi so want this baby.
I got given anti-sickness tablets at 8 weeks and although I wasn't throwing up every single day, the nausea meant I wasn't eating or drinking nearly enough. Definitely go to your GP!!!!

I was on metaclopramide (sp?) and they worked for a couple of days and then didn't so possibly placebo. Got put on Xonvea and it was amazing. No nausea, no sickness. I'm now 12+4 and I stopped taking them this week and so far so good.

So I turned up to my 11.30 thinking I was just tootling to a clinic for a blood to be taken then tootling back to work having told work as much. Currently sat the day ward in a lil cubicle with a bed and a hospital bracelet waiting for urgent blood test results to come back and then a doc to sit down and review etc. 👀👀👀 thankfully they let me out to go forage some lunch and I have a fully charged charging block and bought some magazines. My husband's at home like "wtf but you feel alright!" I feel fine 🤣🤣🤣

We never found out the gender with my first and I was sooooo anti-finding out until the twins... (I totally get why people want to know now) We've got 4 weeks to wait until we find out what are little fishsticks are and it's eating me alive 🤣🤣 I've never googled nub theory so much in my lifeeeeeee and even worse at like 3am!! I'm going crazy. 🫠
We were really anti-finding-out too and didn’t at the 20 week scan, literally every single person including us has the same hunch it’s a girl (including my little two year old nephew 😂) and now we wish we’d found out if just to see if everyone’s hunch is correct! We’ve got at least one extra scan at 32 weeks due to low lying placenta and really tempted to say that we know it’s not the done thing but could they tell us 😂

Also Wednesday night baby was super active and now I’ve not felt a thing since yesterday morning - maybe the odd little kick. Is this still normal at 23 weeks? I’ve already been in to triage and been checked up once for this a couple of weeks ago, am I being paranoid?! I knew I’d worry in pregnancy but this is next level 😫🫠

Yes, annoyingly it’s 100% worth the money 😂 we have the zebra zeitgeist - I had to compromise and let my husband pick the pattern as he didn’t want anything too girly 🤣 we looooove it. I’m actually excited to use it again for this baby!!
What age/weight did you find it was good to?

Mine are DCDA so we are scheduled to be scanned every 4 weeks after 12 weeks. My midwife said if they're head down then a vaginal delivery is better as recovery is quicker, but consultant recommends an elective c-section as often second baby gets stuck and then it ends in an emergency c-section. So we're thinking c-section is probably better to avoid any emergency situations hopefully. We;re thinking the same as you!!

Have you picked a pram?!! There's not too much choice for twins and what there is.. my god it's expensive!! Then I keep thinking about 2 car seats, 2 isofix bases.🙈

We're looking at cancelling our Disney trip at the end of the year as I'll be around 29 weeks and I already have to catch 2 flights to get to Paris as it is. Disney is the easy bit to cancel, but Easyjet are proving to be a pain!
Yes this is exactly what I heard - I can’t imagine having to recover from both a c-section and vaginal delivery!

So I’ve done a little bit of research but still keep getting stuck on whether we want an in-line or side by side pram. I think side by side is cuter but in-line more practical. I also don’t want one that is too heavy! I have been recommended the duet buggy from mountainbuggy by a couple of twin parents.

We’re going to the shops tomorrow to take a look at prams and beds (again - not sure we want them to be in the same one at the start or if we should just get two).

Oh! Good luck with trying to get your money back - if you booked with a credit card you could try contacting your credit card company or if you have travel insurance?

I hate this insomnia rubbish, like clockwork every night at about 2am and I can’t get back to sleep until 4-5am and it’s completely come out of the blue too, I was sleeping so well! I’ve tried pillow sprays and sleep music and magnesium and still, awake every night with restless legs (which I had before pregnancy anyway, just worse now 😂) I suppose at least I’ll have practice for when baby is here! It’s not so bad now as I’m a teacher with no other kids and it’s the summer hols but I’m really trying to fix this before I need to be up at 6 when the holidays end - I know when baby arrives sleep will be much rarer but I’d like to get it whilst I can 😂
Have not slept the night through since my BFP. Except the day the boy evaded the doppler so I was told to go to maternity triage at the nearby big hospital immediately for checks and I had the biggest most screaming meltdown that something might be wrong with him (spoiler:he was fine, but he’s grounded for life!). And that was literally the only night I made it all the way through so… I’d rather avoid the drama and live with the insomnia I think! I’ve had times where I’ll wake up at 3, there’s no getting back to sleep, so I get up, make toast, have a nice bath and then just get myself into work and try my best!

Just nap. I know all the good sleep hygiene stuff tells you naps are the enemy and you have to be in a routine and stuff but it’s all hopeless advice when you’re pregnant. Having a nap does not make me sleep any better or worse at night and at least I’ve had a rest. I had lifelong insomnia but this has been on another level!

I know all pregnancies are different, but I’ve just hit 25 weeks and what the fuck. My boobs are SO sore I can’t even touch them. This isn’t normal surely????? I never got this with my first 😵💫
This is my first so I have no experience to compare this with but my boobs are also still really sore at 20 weeks (that and constipation have been my two constant and consistent symptoms) and I swear they just keep growing…I have no idea what I am supposed to feel 😂

Also I’m new in here, hope you do not all think I am crashing 😂 mainly just wanted to rant about the fact I still barely feel baby move (though on the 20 week scan on Friday they did not stay still at all and kept wriggling away!) and I am waking up at about 3 in the morning or so and just not getting back to sleep for honestly 3 hours…has anyone done anything that has helped this or am I just stuck with it?! My pregnancy pillow helps but I hate being confined to my left side…

Speaking of, I'm on my way to said kidney ultrasound (despite results now being back to normal). They told me to drink 1.5 litres of water and not go to the toilet. I may wet myself.
Oh god, this sounds horrendous 😂 fingers crossed all the results are okay and also that you do not have an accident en route 😂

Really disappointed to have my first appointment with the midwife after booking at 19 weeks and be told they don’t do Doppler scans any more. I get why because of the anxiety but I loved hearing Baby Lavas’s heartbeat last time 💔 I also now don’t have my next appointment until 28 weeks. Seems like forever away. We lived in a different health board last time and the care seemed so much better.
Oh shame! You get a few more appts when it’s your first don’t you? My first doppler experience ended up with me in maternity triage because my son is really naughty, so I sort of dread when they get it out but ever since they’ve found him right away. He was having a wild party on Wednesday morning, absolutely loving his life in there in his breech position 🙄🙄🙄

Ok, so the thing I appear to be too stupid to understand tonight is fitted sheets for Moses baskets. I have a family hand me down Moses basket with a slightly niche size. There are a small handful of mattresses that would fit. But everywhere from Amazon to John Lewis to eBay wants to sell me a mattress protector and sheets that are bigger than the mattress? As in, that’s the ‘frequently bought together’ suggestion. MrDN reckons this is because the total sheet size is bigger because it wraps around the mattress but… that’s not how these things usually work in terms of adult bed sizes.

Of course I just want to spend stupid money having a natural fibre mattress hand made to size with sheets to match but that is super daft.
Is your Moses basket mattress an oval shape or a rectangle?

Just had a growth scan and baby is measuring at 4lb5 at 31 weeks
Do I need to be concerned the baby is going to be massive 😂
Not at all. They can often be out by quite a bit. At my 35 weeks scan they said he was 6lbs 8oz and I could expect a 9lbs+ baby but he was well under 8lbs.

What are you all thinking for travel systems? I find the whole pram thing completely overwhelming (and expensive) and have no idea where to even begin. Some of them look so big and clunky and awkward and I quite fancy something nippy enough. Had a bit of a look in a few shops yesterday and think I’ve an idea of what I’d like for most of the bits but the pram I am completely lost
choose your car seat then it’s narrowed down by default how many travel systems it will fit on making it a bit easier is my advice xx

I honestly can't catch a break... 10 weeks today and spotting have a scan tomorrow and I'm just so nervous 😬 i did have a scan last week and everything was ok so I know my chances of something wrong is low but I just feel like I'm wishing this pregnancy away
