What pregnancy vitamins are you guys taking? I’m taking Pregnacare gummies as they were recommended to me by my GP but am seeing a lot online about Viridian pregnancy complex, apparently it’s better? Or are they all basically gonna do the same thing lol. I hate a capsule that is too large so might stick with the gummies

I took pregnacare all the way through both my pregnancies and then was given extra iron towards my last one.

i know pregnacare doesn’t agree with everyone so take what works for you !

i think the main things to take are folic acid and vitamin d

I’m only 18 weeks and by a Friday I’m completely gubbed and there is nothing left in the tank so today I’m sat here attempting to work from home but feeling absolute defeated. It feels like I’m carting a small boulder around inside me at the moment when I move about. Not sore, just really uncomfortable.

In Oct/Nov last year my mental health was pretty bad and the GP offered to ‘refer me to psychology’ so I accepted, along with a medication increase. I have my assessment t appointment by telephone today but I’ve been referred to ‘psychological therapies’, not ‘psychology’ and since falling pregnant my intense anxiety has really eased up. I was looking more for a fresh diagnosis check before commencing some sort of treatment but reading between the lines of what’s online about this team it is 6-10 sessions of some sort of support which might be group therapy, which in all honesty is of no use to me at the moment but will be in the future but I’ll probably have to start the process all over again. Pah. I started paying for counselling privately but I have Friday evening appointments and again I am completely gubbed and sitting here wondering if I should just bin it off and get into bed even though I’ll still have to pay for the session.

The wind is just falling out of my a 😆🙈 seriously I am just farting constantly without any warning, tmi lol. I work in a very quiet office so am terrified it’ll happen one day without warning and it’s not like I can blame pregnancy yet 😆

Managed a bit of colostrum harvesting this eve and was quite proud of what my body produced lol

Never got offered/told/advised about it with my first but thought I’d give it a go this time

At what week did you start harvesting? ❤

Hospital brought my section date forward by a week so we’ve had a crazy couple of days trying to get everything in order and still got plenty of things to do! Baby will now be born on Wednesday and I was actually due to still be at work then so it was a very rushed start to my maternity leave.

I want to do colostrum harvesting this time as I don’t plan to breastfeed. Are you using a kit?

I got this kit from Amazon, although I’ve realised there’s far too many syringes! 50 Pcs Colostrum Collector Kit... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D793GC3Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I started on Wednesday at 36 weeks. Got a bit that night but then less on Thursday and last night. Last night’s was also slightly tinged with blood on one side but Dr Google says that’s the delightfully-termed “rusty pipes syndrome” so not a massive concern.
Going to leave it a couple of days without trying and then try again and if it persists being low amounts then I might speak to the breast feeding mentor that did a session at NCT or the local Breastfeeding Network where I attended a free workshop.

You can ask your midwife for a collection kit. I got some syringes and little cups and will start after 36 weeks.

Girl same, I have absolutely no control over it. At least it doesn't smell and seems to be just air.

Thank you everyone for the advice!

@QueenKoala our due dates are so close! I think you’re right, the way they measure is so old fashioned. A lot of my weight goes to my abdomen and boobs naturally, so I feel like I had a bit of a belly to begin with. All my private scans have been normal and I also don’t have GD.

everyone who had a bigger baby, were you still able to deliver vaginally? Did they use forceps or anything? I’d like to avoid c section if possible, but will do it if I have to! 🙂

also strangely, my baby is big in all aspects but the femur length is less than 50th centile. Nothing concerning but it’s low 40s. It’s the only measurement that’s been lower than average, the head circumference, abdomen, weight and length have all been high.
My son was 8lbs 12 and I delivered vaginally but with forceps! He also had a 98th centile head circumference and a lower than average femur length (the only measurement lower than average like you) but when I gave birth everything was fine and he looked in proportion 😅

I am so, so sorry. Hoping the best for you and your family

I have no idea if this is any comfort, I hope it will be- but during my recent pregnancy, I had some awful stuff happening to me/ in my life and I was dealing with a lot. To the point where I felt horrendously guilty but I’d spend days crying and laying in bed and then feeling even worse that maybe I’d harmed my baby cos this was in early pregnancy when they really push wellbeing at you. My baby was absolutely fine and we have a great bond now, she’s a happy little girl

I wouldn’t worry about that, and would focus on doing the best you can through an awful situation. Could peri natal offer you any help and support? It could even be as something as simple as a support worker to help you with any tricky appointments, or just someone to chat to to get your thoughts out your head
I have a lot of help and support from YLVC support social workers as well as hospital social workers xx

My mind is still blown over prams/travel systems/whatever they are. I’ve asked in here a couple of times and Ive read numerous articles and I am no further forward. How the hell do you choose?

We went for a walk last weekend and were on a not particularly bumpy forest path, but we saw someone coming the other way with some sort of pram/pushchair and it was bumping along all over the place. Given where we live and my desire to try and get us out and about, a mixed-or all terrain system would be exceptionally helpful. It looked like it was hurting the kid and the mum holding the pram tbh, it really was moving about that much!

I want the car seat to have that 360 swivel base because we park on street and can’t always guarantee what side the nipper will be on. It seems hard to find 360 compatible seats that attach to a travel system chassis. Or I don’t know where to look. Probably that one. My Mum lives just under an hour’s drive away and is likely to be a person we’ll visit a fair bit when the baby is allowed to be in a car seat that long, but I guess I need a seat that is suitable for that?!

I don’t know if i need a carry cot or not? We have a Moses basket so I don’t need it specifically for in the house but maybe Junior will prefer to lie flat for walks? I wish I could ask now 🤣

Happy to buy second hand, if anything I’d prefer it (except the car seat because I know that’s considered unsafe) so it doesn’t need to be the latest thing. What I really want is some sort of flow diagram/magazine style quiz where I answer a load of questions and it cuts the crap and tells me what to buy.

We had the occaro travel system from mamas and papas, great for bumpy terrain. Then we had a cybex car seat with a swivel base that attached to the occaro. Mamas and papas sales assistant was great with helping sort this. We booked a personal shopping session and got freebies too. M&P tend to have a lot of offers on around bank hols so keep an eye out!

I had rusty pipe syndrome in one boob for a few weeks! I was told it’s fine to give blood tinged colostrum to baby - as long as it’s not 100% blood obvs. 😂

We got the exact same thing. The Occaro wheels are incredible and the suspension is fab for uneven terrain. It comes with a carrycot as part of the bundle which I do recommend as baby needs to lie flat at first. The pushchair can also be reclined to lie flat but I enjoy the carrycot. The only downside is the frame can’t collapse with the carrycot attached but it can with the pushchair.

We had the same for our first and will use it again for this baby if/when we’re not using a double. I actually found it a plus that the frame can’t collapse with the carrycot attached because it made it easier to get in my (tiny) boot!
