Looking for some advice. I'm about 5 weeks and I CANNOT stop eating. I have never known hunger like it. It was what made suspicious and test. I wake up in the night because of hunger pangs. I will eat dinner and my tummy will be rumbling half an hour later like I haven't eaten anything. I've tried eating little and often, tried typical foods that fill you up, drinking lots of water and NOTHING fills the hole. I have already gained weight from it. I am very conscious about not overeating and gaining unhealthy amounts of weight (obviously it's normal to gain some and be hungry but this is something else) but I can't help it. Does this pass? Any ideas to stop constantly feeling painfully hungry?

Also I know it's impossible to be showing already but I am very bloated but my bloat looks very baby bump shaped, not like any bloating I've had before, it genuinely looks like I have a cute little bump. Does this go away? We aren't telling people until we've had the scan but I don't want people seeing my bump shaped bloat and asking me.

Hi cob
Has anyone had any experience with baby’s weight slowing down. Had a growth scan at 34 weeks and was told baby had stopped following her line and fallen under the 10th centile..awaiting someone to ring me tomorrow but just looking for any advice?
Hi I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I hope you don’t mind me reaching out I’m 28 weeks and baby is on 2.5th centile. I’m not really sure what to expect; but I just wanted to let you know I’m in the same situation and I’m wishing you all the best for a healthy arrival x

Baby skates is just getting over hand, foot and mouth disease (for the second time🫠) and I’m now convinced I’ve got it. I’ve got a mouth full of ulcers and a couple of spots on my hand. Google tells me it’s more dangerous in the last trimester, but do I still need to tell my midwife? I’m only 9 weeks.

I was the same. It did get better I’d say around 8 weeks, but I’ve been consistently hungry throughout and I’m now 30 weeks. I can’t wait to be able to eat and feel full 😅

Did it cause you to gain a lot of extra weight (baby aside) or not really make much of a difference? It's ridiculous. Had a massive bowl of pasta for dinner and now I'm lying in bed and my stomach is growling like I haven't eaten for a week and I know the hunger pangs will keep me awake

My tip would be to eat little and often rather than having big bowls of 2-3 meals a day for example. Your body is racing through energy to grow baby, so just focus on that. If you’re eating every 1-2 hours with a good snack rather than junk food, you’re doing the right thing. I definitely found this too and if I didn’t eat I’d feel so sick. So I think you’re probably in a preferable place. It will even out at 12-14 weeks when hormones settle. And yes I was very bloated which added to the bump. I never really knew but real bump didn’t appear till almost the third trimester!

Definitely tell them!

I'm 7 weeks and then same! Have you tried upping protein? I haven't cause I'm too nauseous and don't fancy it but it massively helped my hunger in general pre pregnancy.
That said, I'm just letting myself eat 🤷‍♀️ I haven't gained weight yet but I'm plus size anyway so don't know if that comes into it.

I felt dreadful for my first pregnancy and I've been great so far (8weeks). I put on the seasick bands about 3 weeks ago and only take them off to shower. No idea if they work or I'm just lucky this time 🤷‍♀️
The bands help me soooo much I can't believe it!

We had our first antenatal class with bump to baby yesterday and it was soo good! Especially for dads, highly recommend if it’s something you’re able to do!

My hunger levels have been all over the place since even in the few days before finding out I realised I was always hungry. It’s so up and down though it’s actually frustrating. You might find in a week or 2 it might change as well.

The bump/bloat you have might not be as noticeable as you think! I remember feeling like I was massive in the evenings very early on but at almost 19 weeks now I do actually have a small noticeable bump (this is my second baby) so that early bloat I now realise it was nothing at all compared 😂

On the topic of food I feel like I’m really struggling with it right now. My husbands comments aren’t helping.

Before my last pregnancy I was pescatarian but I very quickly went off fish, couldn’t eat any of it at all. I did make the decision to eat meat again and have done since but at this point in pregnancy I don’t want either fish or meat. The idea of it makes me feel so sick. I was convinced there was something wrong with some chicken we had 2 nights ago, I just kept getting this awful smell from it and had to stop eating it, husband ate it fine (my cat also enjoyed mine 😂) so there was nothing actually wrong with it.

My husband keeps saying that my diet is so bad for our baby - I agree but I don’t need reminding.

I hope it’s just one of these things that passes. My ‘cravings’ have been all over the place from the start, I’ll obsess over one food/or snack for a bout a week or 2 and then I won’t want to see it ever again 😂

Yes, tried upping protein. Tried eating little and often, all the things people advise. It makes no difference! I'm reassured by people saying it calms down though.

Just tried expressing colostrum and totally failed. Nothing. I am sure it’s very beneficial but it just feels like an added pressure on pregnant mums and then failing feels rubbish! Hopefully it’s just too soon for me (I’m 38+3)

It’s very normal to not get any so don’t worry. I was advised to start at 36w as I had GD and never got anything. It took a few days after baby was born to get anything - and I was doing it right.
If you can get it then great, if not then don’t stress about it - I think sometimes it can take a few gos if you wanted to keep trying.

Can anyone recommend a good non alcoholic wine? I love a glass with my roast on a Sunday and obviously haven't drunk since I found out but I really fancy a glass! I've tried one that was meant to be a good one from Tesco but it tasted like a. Anyone tried any good ones? Don't mind if red, white or rose.

I will try.. my boob hurts quite a lot now so I’m thinking they just aren’t ready yet!

The only nice ones I’ve found have been pink fizz - Wild Idol is lovely but expensive. Sadly no good red wine exists. I’m in my third tri so treating myself to a small sip or two of actual wine and it’s heavenly I have to say!

Can anyone help with what happens at the first scan/app mainly with your blood test. I’m in Scotland (if this makes any difference) do you get your scan first and then do you go and see a nurse and get your bloods taken for the additional screening? Not sure how long to tell my work I’ll be away for as they don’t know yet. Thank you!

I’m in Scotland too and the whole thing (scan followed by screening bloods) took just over half an hour, but only because they had to stick me three times as my body absolutely refused to give up the goods. 🤣 Maybe tell work you’ll be gone an hour just in case you’re waiting longer for your appointment.

Oh wow that’s so fast! Who takes you for your bloods? Do you go back out to the waiting room to be taken through or does someone come in and get you in the scanning room?

For me the assistant sonographer took me into the scanning room where the sonographer asked if I wanted the screening done so she knew to take the pics/measurements for it. Then after that I sat back in the waiting room for a midwife to take me for my bloods.

I have fully given up sleeping in the bed. I can’t get comfy, I tried a pregnancy pillow and it’s just so awkward. I dread going to bed. 30 weeks and it’s only going to get harder. My partner keeps telling me he will get on the couch but I just can’t settle in the bed at all!
I didn't have a pregnancy pillow because I'm tight. I folded up a duvet and stitched it into an old patchwork I was working on. Despite having a bad back, I sort of piled up at least 3 pillows and my pregnancy duvet thing and THEN SLEPT ON MY SIDE. I have no idea how my hips and back survived that but it was comfy 🤷‍♀️

Please don't worry about gaining weight, you can always lose it later. JUST EAT! What you might need to look out for is getting past this stage and somehow still gorging yourself. That's what I did last time in my 2nd trimester, this time I plan to listen to my body and stop when I'm full. I'm 8 weeks and that hunger has gone away, I'm eating a bit more normally
