This is so upsetting, it's absolutely yours to tell and nobody else's.Not sure if it’s just the pregnancy hormones, but I’m annoyed that my MIL has told our niece that we’re pregnant. It’s still very early (5 weeks) and I feel passionately about not asking children to keep secrets, so I don’t want to ask her to not tell anyone, but she’s five, she’s absolutely going to announce it to everyone because she’s excited (which is lovely, don’t get me wrong!) but I just keep thinking that the more people that know, the more people we’d have to tell if anything happens, and this is why I didn’t want people to know yet.
You've probably heard this before but I've seen people using the difference between 'secrets' (not ok) and 'surprises' (ok as they have an end point and are always something nice) with kids - that could work? Although at 5 she will probably tell people even if you say it's a surprise!
