Not sure if it’s just the pregnancy hormones, but I’m annoyed that my MIL has told our niece that we’re pregnant. It’s still very early (5 weeks) and I feel passionately about not asking children to keep secrets, so I don’t want to ask her to not tell anyone, but she’s five, she’s absolutely going to announce it to everyone because she’s excited (which is lovely, don’t get me wrong!) but I just keep thinking that the more people that know, the more people we’d have to tell if anything happens, and this is why I didn’t want people to know yet.
This is so upsetting, it's absolutely yours to tell and nobody else's.
You've probably heard this before but I've seen people using the difference between 'secrets' (not ok) and 'surprises' (ok as they have an end point and are always something nice) with kids - that could work? Although at 5 she will probably tell people even if you say it's a surprise!

Also hi everyone, I've made it over here from TCC (found out yesterday at 3 weeks 2 days) and I'm very excited and of course nervous ❤

My partner was at a night out last night so he’s a bit fragile today and keeps apologising for “ruining the day”. Would it be bad to tell him I’m actually thrilled to lie on the couch all day eating takeaways 🤣🤣?

We just use water wipes/normal baby wipes. Didn’t actually consider using anything else and imagine getting water/cotton bits at 3am might be a tad more difficult than grabbing a wipe! We just gave baby her first sponge bath today and used warm water and cotton pads for that
We used cotton pads and warm water on our first...for about a day, then the novelty well and truly wore off

After my gender reveal was ruined last week by my boss, I've come in today after a week off and my lovely work pals decorated my desk with boy banners, boy balloons and boy gifts  🥰

Baby shark is here and it’s a boy 🩵
Congratulations!

Can I just go ahead and talk about how great potatoes are right now? I can't get enough. Also ham sandwiches with mayo. And cabbage. I think the embryo is Irish. All I've been able to think about all day at work is my ham sandwich for lunch and my jacket potato for dinner.

Felt anxious for my 32week mudwife appt, cos that’s where stuff went wrong last time and we ended up hospital bound until he was born 11 days later. Turns out baby has too much fluid around her and I need to be tested for GD. I’m meeting with the diabetes team next Thursday and I just feel massively overwhelmed with it. I had my heart set on a water birth and I’ve just been concentrating on doing everything I can to keep her in so we don’t end up in NICU again & it’s all out of my control again 🤦🏼‍♀️💔

I had a gut feeling from the start that it’s a girl - I just had girl vibes! Until our 36 week scan and now I’m convinced it’s a boy 🤣
Will let you know if I was right or not some time within the next 4 weeks as we’re officially 37 weeks and on baby watch 🥳

babymel bags are gorgeous!

Feeling so lonely this week, I’ll be 31 weeks this week so all the support and excitement at the start has just completely gone. Nobody checks on how I am, my husbands family never bother with us anymore (my family are far away) and just struggling with low moods and pain 🥲🥲🥲

I was so excited to go pram shopping today, but it was such a let down. Most were so out of our budget and the ones that we could afford couldn't fit in the car. We have a small car and just couldn't fit the smallest pram in.

And we just saw people walking around buying these expensive travel systems and it just made me feel a bit flat. We think we've found one that will work online, but i just feel a bit meh after the whole thing.

Personally didn’t have that much bleeding either time. I got loads of pads and didn’t need them.
Aldi inco knickers for the first few days, they absorbed just fine, didn’t have a problem with these. I also used these when my waters broke. Then the ABENA maternity pads from Amazon which are nappy like in thickness and massive!!! But didn’t need the whole pack. I had the lillets maternity pads which I didn’t rate as they were just really, really long and I didn’t really leak forward or backward so a bit of a waste of time. My favourite were Asda bladder weakness ones. Wide, kind of elasticated to cup but not so massive they’re uncomfortable. Also had some really cheap pads that were like old fashioned sanitary towels I used for like half hour here and there (say between removing one and getting in the shower just while I fed baby).

Overall, I had maybe 5 days of very heavy period type, then 3-4 days heavy period then it just went to normal sanitary towel heaviness before tailing off to need liners. I never needed the length, more so the width. 1 pack of pants, 1-2 Asda packs and just sanitary normal towels and liners would have seen me through comfortably.

I have a waterproof mattress protector anyway but got incontinence pads as I use them as disposable travel changing mats (don’t want to put a pooey travel mat back in the bag). I sat on one in the car but the inco pants contained the leaking waters and though my waters went in bed, I felt something and stood up and then they came so the bed didn’t get it.
Never needed to protect the bed from PP bleeding. But a waterproof mattress protector would be a good shout for PP sweating, possibly bleeding leakage and waters so seems like a good multi use idea. But pads, don’t buy loads in advance, supermarkets or prime sell them if you need them, you’ll never be without.

24 weeks today which is one of my milestones in this pregnancy.

I’m absolutely floored by anxiety and paranoia and the threat of danger all around me. Like my mentally unwell SIL who seems to think she’ll be our childcare and will drive the baby around despite the fact her license has been revoked because of her MH. I’m having nightmares about her harming our baby at our wedding. The slightest disappointment or stress or irrational thought is sending me over the edge. Like the creeps coming onto our shared driveway after sunset and leaving a dodgy looking trailer but legally we don’t have a leg to stand on. Who are these strangers creeping around our flat??

My next psychologist appointment can’t come soon enough.

Hi ladies! Hope you don’t mind me joining the thread. Currently about 5.5 weeks with baby number 3. Still refusing to believe it as I have zero symptoms whatsoever!

I can't believe you are over 40 weeks now! How are you feeling?
I’m ok thank you! I had a sweep yesterday and turns out I’m 2-3cm dilated, but today not feeling that much. A few cramps and twinges and belly very tight when I’m standing up. When I’m sitting or lying down though I feel really normal. Hoping baby girl starts to do something soon!

is it okay to get BIAB done? Just wondering if the gel and the uv lamps are safe?

also I know I should limit my caffeine intake, so I’ve stopped all coffee and fizzy drinks, but is decaf alright? Or should I look for something with 0 caffeine like fruit teas?

sorry if these questions are so silly, I have no one else to ask and no midwife yet 🤣 my gp just referred me today!
Getting your nails done is okay, colouring your hair is okay, drinking coffee is okay, especially if you only have 1 or 2 a day. :) I recommend you book Expecting better by Emily Oster, I found it the most helpful when everyone around me was scaring me about every little thing. And congratssss ♥

Thank you everyone ❤ still feeling very ill but better than yesterday and baby has been moving fine today, probably because I’ve been slightly more awake (she’s booting me in the cervix as I type but I won’t complain 😂)

Had a dream last night I’d cleaned the whole house, woke up and realised I still have to clean up. These vivid dreams are going too far 😩
