Is anyone else terrified at the thought of giving birth? I've been scared since I can remember, even visited a psychologist before I got pregnant. We don't have elective c-sections in my country, I could only get referred for one if my psychologist thinks it would be better for my mental health. The thing is I'm scared of both options, I lie awake in bed at night and try to chose between what's bad and what's worse. 😂 I don't know why I'm such a pussy but I've always been so scared of injuries, blood and everything related and I think I just know too much about it and about everything that could happen or go wrong and just think c-section is a more secure, "regulated" option even if the recovery is harder.

Honestly I'm glad I'm only doing this once but I feel like I'll feel more and more trapped in this situation the closer I'll get to my due date.
Yeah. It’s embarrassing I can’t even watch the actual births on One Born Every Minute, I have to look away if it becomes remotely graphic. Mr L can just watch like it’s nothing, then he has to tell me when it’s safe to look again when baby is out. Honestly. I’m 26. You’d think I’m a 10 year old boy. I don’t want to listen to any birth stories, read any books that describe the stages. Like I just want to ignore the fact it’s actually going to get to a time where this baby will have to come out 🤣 where as if I actually read/watched about it, I’d probably feel more prepared I just can’t bring myself to

Has anyone else experienced this...
I'm 20+3 weeks ( with posteris placenta) and for the last 2 ish weeks I've had twitching/spasms in my lower belly. At first I thought it was the baby moving, but as they've time has gone on I've started to think this may not be the case.
I can see them we well as feel them and they look like zaps on my belly, which usually occur around 3 times a day for 15 mins a time. I'd say there's 1 every minute.
Surely the baby is too small to make such fast and obvious movements at this stage?
Google says hiccups but I'm just not sure!

Yes I think you are probably right! I was expecting that. Thank you! It needs a more descriptive name? 🤣
I think it's officially called the maternity exemption certificate but I could see a busy GP blanking on the name and calling it something else 😂 I'm intrigued now to see if it is that or if it's something else!

Does anyone else’s midwife/maternity team just seem shit to what you see from everyone else’s lmao. I keep seeing people saying what their babies heart rate is - never been told this or knew it was an option to know. Don’t have my midwife’s number nor has she ever contacted me - keep seeing people on about how much help their midwife has been at appointments and how chatty they are, think my longest I saw her was five minutes 😂

Was sent for bloods at 13 weeks only to be called and told ‘yeah don’t know why they sent you for them it was too early sorry’. Doctors lost my midwife referral form. Got sent to a hospital for a scan that didn’t even have a unit to do maternity scans. It just keeps adding up 😂
Should be on your badger notes app or your handwritten notes you got from your midwife

Not sure how far along you are but some will start to use the Doppler that picks up the heart rate from about 20 weeks onwards

Random but am I allowed to listen to loud music and dance 😂?
I was just having a dance and sing in my room and just had a thought that maybe the tv was too loud and if the dancing was hurting her
Won’t do any harm , I’ve been to concerts and she just raves along 😂😂 and she puts up with the hubby either shouting at the Xbox or during the euros

Can anyone recommend any really comfy jogging bottoms type trousers just for lounging around the house in? I'm not really a leggings girl and I keep finding waistbands on the stuff I already have really dig in and feel uncomfortable, even specific maternity bits.

For the ladies that mentioned it a while back, I just read that feeling your pulse/heartbeat can be a sign of low iron.
I’ve been feeling this… I feel like my pulse is pulsating! But I’m sure my midwife hasn’t checked my bloods since the 10 week appointment and my iron was okay then I think xx

Thank you this is really helpful, I've just used it to get a new mattress for the snuzpod so this discount brought it to under £30 ☺
I went to buy it last week and it was out of stock for a few days so I got impatient and ended up paying £35 for the official one on Amazon. My impatientness is what costs me 🤣

I have a consultant appointment today, almost 30 weeks.
We were referred for gap scans due to a LLP/bleeding but haven’t had one yet though have received the date of the placenta scan and liquor and Doppler scan at 36 weeks.

I’m guessing today will just be a discussion about what may happen? It only came on my Badger Notes a few days ago, so it was a bit of a surprise appointment.

Bit of a niche question but do any of your partners not drive? My husband can’t for medical reasons and it’s been extended today. I don’t have any family nearby and I’m concerned about when I go into labour how to get to our hospital? I’m going to speak to my midwife but what the hell do we do! And coming home?!
I drive but obvs won’t be able to 🤣

We use Badger, although it does frustrate me a little as I find not a lot actually gets published on it.
Definitely not the same as having paper notes you can look back over.

I know people have asked in the past month or two about the RSV vaccine but I've not seen anyone whose actually had it yet. My midwife told me today that there's a drop in clinic for it this afternoon at my hospital so I'm going to pop along to that. But interested to hear about anyone whose had it already and how you were after?
I had to go for a rescan at the hospital yesterday and they only started RSV vaccinations this week for those over 28 weeks. I've got a growth scan at 28+1 so I'll be having it then but I had my flu jab yesterday and chatted to the immunisation nurse about RSV specifically and I'll definitely be having it when I can!

Also will be keeping an eye out for COVID booster too - even though I had COVID 8 weeks ago, I'll still be having the booster!

I’ve been googling this as I’ve started to lose my mucus plug and I’m not ready yet! I think waters are meant to be clear and have a sweet smell? I’d prob ring up to be on the safe side - I think they advise you to put a pad in?
I’ve done so much googling and nothing very definitive 😂 I did learn there is apparently two waters? One can be the gushing one & one more trickling?

Baby T is here and he is absolutely beautiful. Just perfect.
It didn’t go according to plan as in I had two failed spinal blocks as ended up having to do general which is my greatest fear in life. Found that really distressing but it was only for a few seconds till I went under.. had a bleed as well as I had large fibroid which they were very concerned about, lost about a liter but didn’t need a transfusion. Can around in agony and it felt like it took them forever to stop the pain but I think it was only seconds. All the aside is nothing when I look in and see the most wonderful little man.. I cooked a fab one, not bad for a 46 year old 😂😂 He was 6 pounds 1 so not bad given he made his appearance at least two weeks early.. thanks to you all for all
The advice and banter over the last few mi this it’s been awesome. Will stay around for a while 💕💙
Huge congratulations! X

I know it was only a couple of days ago that I said I'm not a leggings girl, but after my desperation for something comfortable to wear that doesn't dig in around the waist, a heavily pregnant influencer I follow on Instagram was raving about some cheap leggings from Amazon that she's worn loads through her pregnancy, so I thought for under a tenner I'd give them a go...and my god they really are so soft and comfy, huge wide waistband so no digging in either. If anyone else wants to give them a go here's the link:

Thanks! I'm gonna get these. I bought some others from Amazon but they were horrible; really cheap feeling and flimsy.

Does anyone know the guidance on using vicks chest rub or olbas oil (just on a tissue and kept nearby, not inhaled in steam or anything) in pregnancy?

Can't get through to my midwife team to ask, pharmacy is shut and the open ones aren't answering 😔 I am suffering beyond measure with congestion in COVID and have no idea what I can and can't use (I know all decongestant tablets/medication is a no no!)

Oh I am going through this EXACT feeling with you right now - it's like I wrote it!🤯 So i can definitely relate .. i have just been trying to steam my face with hot water but I can't seem to relieve the pressure. Please let me know if you find anything that helps!

Also... Get well soon!! ♥

Yep I don't know what to do yet, I want to take 12 months off but not sure if we can afford it! Luckily my work have said I don't need to confirm right away. My boyfriend has said he is happy to support me during the months unpaid but I feel awful letting him do that as he is already taking on a lot of the financial costs of our house while I'm going to be on SMP!

When do you need to decide by? Maybe try explaining to them that you aren't sure yet and see if they can give you a bit more time to decide?
For me payroll had to know by week 20 of pregnancy as they needed to do forecasts and send them to me on how I want to be paid over the 10 months
