Anyone else absolutely sick to death of
“You have no idea what’s about to hit you”
“You just wait until”
“You don’t know what you’ve let yourself in for”
“You’ll soon learn”
“I hope you’re ready for”

I literally can’t stand it, none of it is helpful. We’re both adults and it’s a very much wanted and planned for baby. We’ve both been around soooo many people who have kids, including family members and we’ve been very involved so seen the highs and lows and have never been under any illusion that our whole lives are about to change drastically.
I just find it incredibly patronising and I never know what to say!

I’m just dreading this weekend as I know we’re going to be getting it constantly given who we’ve got plans with.

I’m also not finding pregnancy a walk in the park either so I’m very ready to not be pregnant anymore (not ready for birthing the baby in any way shape or form but ready for baby to be here).

sorry for the rant!

I feel like this pregnancy has been complicated from the start and we’d hoped the repeat 12 week scan would just be
Simple and normal for us.

baby is measuring 11w 6ds, which follows the scans I’ve had at epu (so that’s fine!) they said everything looks great other than one thing which I’m being referred to fetal medicine for, it looks like baby has some of its insides on the outside, husband had a quick google (I’m not going to) but I guess we won’t know more really until seeing fetal medicine.

Really hoped the worst was over 😭

Morning all, just got back from our scan at the EPU. Everything is fine, thank goodness! Baby was wriggling away and posing for the sonographer, gave us a little wave too before rolling away. 😂 Heartbeat looks great and she showed us the head/brain and the thigh bone as well. I’ve had a swab done to see if anything caused things, but she said even a bowel movement can cause things like that.

My screening results from two weeks ago all came back low risk as well. Such a relief. 😭

The midwife did say she thinks I’ll be one of the unfortunate ones who will be sick and nauseous throughout the whole pregnancy. 🥲 I’ll give it another two weeks and see if things improve before asking the GP about anti-sickness meds.

Finally saw baby kick on the outside (just a small one but I’ll take what I can get!) she did it again a few more times so I shouted my boyfriend out of his shower to come see, he ran down and baby girl decided ‘actually no I’m bored of this now’ and stopped. He was fuming and has declared baby is going to be cheeky 😂

Last day or work for me today! Came in to a bunch of flowers, some chocolate and they’ve ordered me the little brother/little sister sleepsuits I wanted. Will need to see if I’m still able to exchange one for something else depending on what one we need!

Actually thought I was going into labour last night, my lower back was so sore and that’s the only thing I had with my first labour. Thankfully I wasn’t, think baby has maybe just moved position, but it’s also made me panic that I need to get the bags sorted soon!!

If I can say one thing about movements and patterns, please don't worry if you don't recognise a proper pattern of your baby's movements. Mine moves whenever the hell she wants, I could have a quiet day then an evening full of kicks and wriggles, or a day full of all sorts of movement then a chilled evening. Sometimes i feel baby during the night, sometimes I don't.
I would just be making sure there are regular movements every day, even my midwife said some baby's just do their own thing and won't stick to an established pattern or routine, so just make sure there are enough movements daily

Working in healthcare has done the same for me. Almost every name I think of reminds me of either a patient or a colleague 😂
I work in a care home and I think it’s funny when people call their kids something proper ‘unique’ like ‘Nayvaeh’ or one I have seen was ‘Carter-Dior’ like imagine being in a care home in 80 years and there’s a Carter-Dior there loooool

How did you use/ how are you planning on using the moses basket? We got a new one given to us and I'm thinking to keep it downstairs so the baby has somewhere to lie down there.
Plan? For baby to have a nice sleep in it during the day while I got stuff done
Reality? It stores teddies, has a couple of blankets draped over the side, deliveries for him get thrown in it during the day and I pile muslins on the end next to the sofa for easy access during the day. As soon as I put baby in he wakes up 😂 we’ll probably pack it away soon

Sorry, mother in law rant here again. Not pregnancy related as much but feel like I can rant here 😂
My mother in law has started seeing this new guy, my husband just met him briefly at the weekend but just found out he’s spent the whole day today with our toddler! We know nothing about this guy and he’s been on FaceTime and now spending the day with my son and she’s not even asked us if it’s ok! The guy lives in Ireland so I don’t even know if this will last, I don’t want my son meeting random guys!

Just parking myself here. I have a 15 month old who took multiple years and several fertility investigations and treatments to conceive, so you can imagine my shock when we found out we’re pregnant again on the first month of trying!

I’m absolutely thrilled, but did have a HG pregnancy last time so a little anxious about that. Although with my son, I’d already started being sick before I even got the positive test, and I haven’t been/felt sick yet and I found out two days ago. Although it’s scary not having symptoms!

Currently pregnant with baby #2 and after a very up and down start scan showed baby looking good at 8w1d yesterday 😊 so hoping I can finally relax a little bit for now

Does anyone know when the pregnancy insomnia ends? 😂 I think I had it with my first for a bit but I don’t remember it being quite this bad 🥴 I can get to sleep at night perfectly fine but I wake up so much and it’s a struggle to get back to sleep!

Waiting for my community midwife appointment and I'm sure I just stood in a big puddle of someone else's wee while doing my sample, and now some girl has just walked out practically dangling her baby with her arm round it's neck. 😩😩

Eww and now some other girl is here with her mum, her mum is sat by me and keeps burping 🙃
And this is exactly why I've chosen not to send my child to a nursery in this town.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I think a text will be the best way to tell them. Telling them in person would just be for their sake but I need to put up boundaries and protect myself in order to be a good example for my child.
