I mainly want to do it with my OH as he’s very anxious about the whole process and I think it’ll really help him feel empowered about things. Personally I’m not 100% sold on all of it but figure another tool in the tool box won’t hurt!

Does anyone know much about statutory maternity pay…. I’m waiting on my workplace to let me know if they are sorting out my statutory pay… my manager sent forms away january 4th. From what I can see they have 28 days to respond. I emailed start of week and they said they were working on it.
I work part time & variable hours but I think I earnt over the £123 a week to get statutory off my workplace… I just would like a answer as I assume if it’s a no I have to apply for maternity pay from
Goverment which says it can take 20 days to apply. My last working day should be 5th match… just getting abit impatient.
Am I being unreasonable to email again maybe start of next week and ask for a response!
I hate not knowing what’s going on!

Definitely not unreasonable, you need to know what you're entitled to and some places just take the absolute piss in getting back to you about these kind of things. I always think if you owed them 50p from your wages they'd have you hounded so never be scared to keep at them x

I'm quite a placid person but I've just snapped at my OH. We've got our second NCT class tomorrow and it's about baby care etc. So they've asked us to send in anything specific on the whatsapp group that we want to know. We do not have a bath. We only have a shower and very little room for a baby bath to go. So I've asked about how you shower a baby/what you do if you don't have a bath.

He on the other hand, has decided to google "Bathroom refit services" and "how much space does a bath take".

We've paid £240 quid for this course, the lady can answer my bloody question and he can get on with the DIY jobs he needs to do like sorting out our outside office so our inside office can move and become the babies room!

Free standing baby bath would be your best bet. We had a baby one and now a toddler one and put a towel under to protect carpet or put it in the shower/bathroom floor.
Rather you than me chasing a soaking wet crawling toddler out of a shower unless you’re in there with them.

I had my carbon monoxide levels checked at an appointment yesterday and it was 4. She said this is usually associated with smokers got me paranoid as I wasnt in any traffic or around smokers. My usual reading is 2. Anyone else had a higher reading?

Do bump bands actually help with lower back pain? If yes any Recommendations!!

I’ve used mine for lower bump pain & hip pain - so I can only assume it may help with lower back? I got this one from Amazon

I have a nappy bin that I used with my first. Very quickly just used it with nappy bags rather than the cassettes and will probably use again but would empty it every day/every other day

Have your midwives done any further tests to make sure you're not low in anything?

And yes, all 3 were vaginal births

My doctor has ordered some updated blood tests so will get those done today & I’m hoping they show low iron or something that can be fixed

Mine go up and down everyday and keep changing colour and going back too. The other day they were on fire and leaked a bit . It’s so weird

I’m 20 weeks and my next midwife appointment isn’t until I’m 29 weeks…is it ok to text my midwife to ask for my prescription exempt certificate and my MATB1 form you think? Or should I wait?! I’m sure my work need the form sooner than later?

Feel so ready to go home as been here since Thursday evening, baby boy was born last night at 8:40 - exactly 37 weeks

A few hours after we’d messaged parents to let them know and father in law instantly tried to call hubby, he cut off the call and said no chance right now, then minutes later FiL made a post on Facebook announcing it to the world .. neither me or my partner had done this we’re not really big on Facebook but yeah we didn’t even have a chance to tell any other close family if we wanted too! Been scared he’d try and come up the hospital too, some people really don’t think and respect your boundaries do they.

Both me and baby are okay, though he had to go for some extra testing at nicu late last night which was scary but they came back fine. Felt mostly like a positive birth just really long though I have nothing to compare it too ! Just will be happy to get home and hopefully sleep for more than 20-30mins I’d take an hour .. just not been able to get any real sleep in hospital!

Congratulations! Any word on when you’re getting home?

Yes, my nephew used to nap in his pram all the time. Also some are suitable for overnight sleep and some aren't, mine (Bugaboo Fox 3) says it's not but my SIL's pram was. The assistant when we were looking at it said it was something to do with ventilation. We will probably use it for somewhere cosy to put him when we are downstairs during the day, we have a Purflo nest thing but he doesn't like it.

yeah, I’m getting the uppababy vista and it’s suitable for occasional overnight sleeping, the bottom of it has a flap that velcroes open and closed so if baby is sleeping you can open it and it allows for ventilation.

Thanks ladies re back pain replies.
It’s not settling at all and I’m getting tummy cramps but can still feel baby wriggling. I also feel sick. I’m wondering if it’s a possible UTI? I can’t sleep hence the 3am club don’t have any issues weeing, doesn’t burn or anything. Is it worth a ring to maternity assessment in the morning?Feels too severe to be stretching pains?! But also never had a UTI in my life.

Currently 36 + 3 weeks and due to move next week I could honestly cry at the thought of it! Hope you’re all settled in your new home and are able to have a good rest - think of me next week and cross your fingers that baby doesn’t decide to make an early appearance!

Oh crikey! I hope yours goes smoothly and that baby stays *put! for a few weeks!!
It didn’t help that we lived on the 4th floor without a lift Hopefully you are also more organised than we were and have lots of boxes- we were scrambling for bags by the end of the day just to get stuff out

Does everyone get a GD test? I had to fast today for bloods etc but didn’t have to wait around afterwards? Or is it only if you’re high risk. Don’t remember having to wait around after my bloods with my first child either x
