Pointless things you do on the Internet

Reblogging stuff on Tumblr so that I've got a really pretty blog.

I have no followers, literally nobody cares what my likes/dislikes etc are but looking at it and keeping it all organised makes me happy so I have fun with it.

Yyyeees! I am chuffed others do this too.
I'm just so bloody nosey 🤣

Tracking planes if I hear one flying over to see where it’s come from / going

Looking at menus of restaurants/ take aways when I have no plans to go or get said take away.
I'd forgotten about plane tracking! Tbf I live near an airport so tend to get quite a few nearby but obviously in recent times it's been much quieter. I get such satisfaction from knowing that the big plane going over came from London and is off to New York despite it making absolutely no difference to my life!

I do the same with menus as well, love deciding what I'd have etc. I had a proper rant the other night about a Christmas menu I read, I don't even think the restaurant was vaguely local! There was an amazing sounding turkey dinner or an equally amazing sounding beef one....then the veggie option was tit - carrots, goats cheese, dukka and a pesto I think which is such a crap main course! I'm still angry about it, irrationally so 🤣

So glad I’m not the only plane tracker. I find it fascinating thinking about what all the people on the plane are coming here for. Coming home, coming for work, happy occasion, sad occasion, in transit... endless possibilities! Sometimes I tell people I use FlightRadar and they’re like :cautious:

Looking at dream houses on rightmove, reading bad reviews, looking up places on google maps that I’ve read about in true crime documentaries, reading Wikipedia pages about the predictions for the next few millenniums..... I’m a weirdo lol

Drop a pin on Google Maps and explore the area. I've spent hours wandering down streets of far flung cities.
Oh, and watching first person pov videos of going down log flumes and water slides on YouTube lol

Looking at the rightmove archive for my postcode and snooping inside neighbours homes!

If I’m playing a video game that’s story based (most of the time tbf), I’ll often end up becoming obsessed and will spend hours trawling the internet for info on the lore, characters, mysteries in the game, even things like glitches and bugs interest me as well as plot holes and theories. Huge time sink at times and absolutely zero productivity. Love it😅

When my husband is pissing me off I go on a benefits calculator to see how much I would be entitled to as a single mum 🤣

I do this after I watch a new film or TV show I liked. IMDb used to make great reading on the background, the making of and the errors made but ever since they got rid of the message boards, which was my main reason for visiting, I hardly go on the site anymore.

I also do that 🤣 I've will also check out houses that would suit my new single lifestyle. There's a housing estate across the road from my eldest's school and houses there are top of my housing stock as they're fairly cheap but still not too rough an area. I may have thought about this too much 😳

Editing to add that I'm actually very happy with my husband and have zero plans to leave but knowing I could and it would be fine definitely helps when he's being a gob 🤣

I’m sure I’ll be called humourless but this very offensive. I know many single parents who don’t get a penny in benefits so have to pay for everything out of their own salary. This is also very smug as it’s saying I look at their lives for a bit of entertainment then I go back to my husband who provides for me

It's your right to take my post any way you like but I'm not sure how I could be offensive or smug when I haven't mentioned a word about benefits, single parents or having a husband who provides for me.

You are very welcome to swap with me. I don’t get a penny from the government- I do have to work every hour God sends though. I’m happy to do it though so she always has enough- why she should feel less than because of choices her father made? I’d love to be able to sit in my ivory tower joking about going on benefits. To me that’s our reality if I ever lose my job.

You quoted somebody who said they used a benefit calculator to see how much they get and said yes I do that too. Maybe my original post should have also been aimed at who you quoted.

Vile. You obviously don’t provide much for yourself and your children at the moment or you wouldn’t be entitled to very much.

Farmville 2 😔
Never played that, I was on Farmville for a while but I moved to FrontierVille / Pioneer Trail.

Now this boring as duck but I monitor and update my google maps timeline, now there is a
good reason for this, being a motorcycle courier it's useful information to me. I have a record
of where I've been, how I got there, learning alternative routes and many other information
relating to my job. I can also work out how many miles I do in a week and if I get a fine I can
at least use the information to verify my whereabouts for any given day.

Vile.
I apologise, yes I did quote that. In my reply I was talking to looking at houses. It still has nothing to do with being smug or intending to be offensive.

It looks like some people's 'pointless things they do on the internet ' is be self- righteous and have a go at strangers for things that don't concern them.

People can input their details into the calculator if they want . It's on the internet for all to access.

Used to love the IMDb message boards back in the day.

I mainly use Reddit when looking for info on that stuff now.
