I also just started listening to Diss and Tell about celebrity feuds and I love it

I've never listened to a true crime one but I listen to
Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe's parenting hell (formerly lockdown parenting hell)
and Nadia Swahala and her husband's confession of a modern parents podcast. I know people aren't her biggest fans which is fair but they talk about a lot of modern issues like cancel culture, is there too much pressure on kids, affects of social media. I really like their discussions and find them really interesting.

I also enjoyed Drs Chris and Xand Van Tullken's podcast about processed food. I think it's called addicted to food: an examination or something like that. It was really good and they had so many experts on it. Was really interesting to hear about all the ways that big companies trick you into wanting their food like they apparently purposely manufacture a can to make that noise when you open it so you get a dopamine release. Was fascinating

I thought the same. I’m in a similar boat, my mum died in her 40s when I was 20 of cancer and I thought it would be too much. It isn’t! I found it quite helpful actually (I haven’t listened to many episodes, sometimes it’s a big consuming and I don’t want to binge listen to 5 episodes at a time about death). I’ve avoided the episodes with a grandparent death, I know this sounds bad and it’s not a grief competition but personally I can’t relate emotionally to those.

I listened to a lot of griefcast after my mum died a few years ago (she had just turned 60), and found it incredibly helpful. I avoided watching/listening to anything about death, cancer etc for ages as I just thought I’d find it too upsetting, but actually it was a bit of a release in some ways. I also felt like I’d made a bit of a mess of grieving for my mam, so it helped to listen to other people’s experiences and how they were, it validated a lot of the feelings I had at the time. The Romesh episode was so spot on.

I avoid the grandparents ones too, similarly find them hard to relate to.

I know she did a very, very very bad thing but I do have to admire her not giving two shiny shits attitude to life. I like to channel my inner Anna Delvey in job interviews etc I'm fascinated by what she'll do next, I can't see her fading into obscurity.

Anybody got any further recommendations?? Just finished S-Town. Enjoyed it. Loved Your own backyard. I enjoy celebrity memoir book club with Chelsea. Liked ‘believe in magic’/ Down the hill, and the other bear brooks one. Ideally a bit of true crime. Not fussed on the Australian ones, it’s an accent thing for me

I'm the same with the aussie accent, that said, I enjoyed teachers pet.

Try the king road killings, about the 4 college kids, murdered before Christmas in Moscow, idaho.
Scamamda is great, about a blogger who faked cancer.
Red handed can be good, different case every week so search through for anything that grabs your attention.

I was actually tempted to listen to Griefcast after hearing Cariad on parenting hell!

Honestly I really like it. I'm similar too Cariad that I was 16 when my dad died of cancer. He died at only 48. I find grief fascinating really. The way she describes how you deal with grief in the romesh interview is so good.

There's one on BBC Sounds which is true crime but it's comedy, it's an ex copper talking about being a policeman - it's called It's A Fair Cop. There are loads of episodes, they're only short.

Help! I Sexted My Boss - Jordan North (I'm a celeb & Radio 1) and William Hanson (etiquette expert) - very funny. I'm no prude but even I blush at some of the emails they get. New episodes Tues & Fri

Rob Beckett & Josh Widdicombe's Parenting Hell - Rob Beckett & Josh Widdicombe (both comedians) - even as a non-parent I really enjoy this. New episodes Tues & Fri

The Therapy Crouch - Peter Crouch (footballer) and Abbey Clancy (model & SCD) - this is a fairly new podcast with only 5 episodes. Very funny, very chilled, so far they have been discussing how they met and their relationship etc. New episodes Tues

Going to give Wolf & Owl a go after seeing a few people in this thread recommend it.

If there are any others similar please recommend them - apart from SMA. I listened to a good few episodes but got a bit fed up which is a shame as a I really like Chris as a stand-up

Off Menu is good. I've mentioned this one before but I really like Griefcast, the episode with Romesh is worth a listen.

Just finished The Witness. Really good podcast, very sad at times. About a young boy in Ireland who was groomed into a life of crime. Triggering as does contain abuse but such a good listen and really eye opening.

Love, Janessa was pretty good, nice host. I didn't really get what was going on at the end though.

I was listening to Casefile for true crime for a few weeks, but I've stopped listening because I realised the material was taking a heavy toll on me. I only want lighter stuff now, self improvement, and no-gore mystery.

I've just listened to Fairy Meadow and previously the Elsie Frost podcasts. Fantastically researched and put together. Highly recommend.
