I went to see his tour back in early 2023. I was shocked at how different he looked he actually looks as if he put on a bit of weight since then. Back then he also looked like he had a scar on his head and some of his hair looked sprayed on
Yet he still had a good spark about him then and was very funny. Maybe he is not ready to speak about his illness yet. He has always been a private person when not on stage. I've read him books too and there all about his jobs before and after comedy nothing really about his private life.
I think the three year tour has also aged him after 2026 I can see him retiring.

I have it on good authority that he was getting treatment a while back at the Christie hospital. I think he just wants it all get private.

Thing is when you loose a large amount of weight it does age you especially on your face where your skin sags

I went to see him in February last year and spent the first half hour thinking I must be watching some kind of hologram, my brain just couldn’t accept it was actually him on stage as he looked so different.

I understand he wants privacy but you can't do public appearances looking like that and expect people not to speculate. Might as well say what's going on.

I read a few comments after that interview that were posted on you tube it seems a lot of people left his shows early saying it was just old material etc some comments saying he will retire after this tour
I know he will always have a legion of loyal fans who think he's a comedy god but you have to move with the times and he is stuck firmly in the past I would love to see another car share/phoenix nights type series from him but I'm not sure he's old style comedy would be welcome on TV now maybe he will call it quits after this tour

Totally agree. I LOVED his comedy back in the day and have cried laughing before at him. Finally got tickets to see him (the tour that was cancelled) Then got them for this tour and went in 2023. Was SO excited after waiting years to see him live and it was terrible. It still annoys me that i spent so much money on tickets. It was all his old material, slightly changed but nowhere near as funny!

There was a radio phone in this morning about trigger warnings on entertainment material that viewers might find offensive.
Apparently Netflix wanted to show his phoenix nights and he declined as they wanted to put a trigger warning on it

It is really weird that you can’t watch Phoenix nights anywhere. I had to find it on daily motion a few years ago when I wanted a rewatch. I used to have them on VHS

Actually I disagree. These days a lot of celebrities overshare to keep themselves in the media.

Anyone here remember Katie Price"s I've got cancer of the finger story???

Peter Kay is entitled to privacy if that's what he wants.

And even if he isn't as good as he once was, he's got a legacy of Phoenix Nights, Car Share, Garlic Bread and other stiff.

I would love to see him (one last time!) but my mum's dementia has progressed to the point that she can't understand comedy now. So we stick to musical shows.

We've seen him once in Glasgow in the old SECC and he was fab. Susan Boyle was in the audience so he was having a bit of banter with her.

We also went to see Billy Joel - got the tickets last minute and Peter Kay came on and introduced him. He did about a 10 minute slot so it felt like we got 2 shows.

I just feel so old when I start singing the Corned Beef song and my colleagues look at me like I'm mental (it's all right - I know I'm mental)

I've not seen him for a while, when did he start to look so old and wizened? It's a good job they put a caption up as without hearing him speak I would not have recognised him.

I think he is poorly It’s been what, over 2 years now since he cancelled his tour? So I assume treatment etc has been ongoing since then.
I was hoping he would burst back onto tv/ announce something he was doing but I think he’s doing the right thing - maintaining his privacy and doing charity work when he can.

Wasn’t it one of his children who was ill? I just have a vague memory of this so could be wrong.

I agree too. It’s his job. No other profession except celebrities are expected to publicly announce they have bum cancer or Really Bad Cat AIDS. Health privacy is a fundamental right.

Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice both wanted it to go on Netflix, but Kay refused - he’s said before he’d rather fans by the DVDs (likely because he makes more from it!)

No one knows for sure as there were even rumours it was his wife. There are people who say they saw him in Christie's getting treatment and it seems to be a given it was Leukemia and this wasn't his first battle with it. I doubt he will ever admit it as he has always been private and sugar coated his life so I doubt he will ever say one way or another and the closest we will get to the truth is the fact all the charities he is donating to is for cancer of some sort.

It would bring a whole new audience to the shows on streaming you can't rely on dvd sales this day and age
