It is really weird that you can’t watch Phoenix nights anywhere. I had to find it on daily motion a few years ago when I wanted a rewatch. I used to have them on VHS![]()
You can watch it on YouTube. Not great quality but still watchable.

We’ve kept our dvd player just so we can watch Phoenix Nights/Max and Paddy. We also watch Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder on it as for some reason we couldn’t find it on Prime Tv!You can watch it on YouTube. Not great quality but still watchable.
I’m sure there was a poster on here in the early days that was hounded but basically knew through their job that he had Leukemia and yeah he had it before. They seemed pretty factual. Everyone went mental because it was a breech of confidentiality but yet everyone was speculating. I suspect they were correct. Fair play if he just wants privacy and not to make a song and dance, quietly supporting the charities that obviously mean something to him too is nice.No one knows for sure as there were even rumours it was his wife. There are people who say they saw him in Christie's getting treatment and it seems to be a given it was Leukemia and this wasn't his first battle with it. I doubt he will ever admit it as he has always been private and sugar coated his life so I doubt he will ever say one way or another and the closest we will get to the truth is the fact all the charities he is donating to is for cancer of some sort.
Who still buys DVDs, except for 50p on market stalls or in charity shops? Is he still living in 2002?It would bring a whole new audience to the shows on streaming you can't rely on dvd sales this day and age![]()
Just click ‘most liked posts’. It was me who questioned it as he said his brother works for BUPA! And yes, it is a major breach but I didn’t believe it, so doesn’t matter!I’m sure there was a poster on here in the early days that was hounded but basically knew through their job that he had Leukemia and yeah he had it before. If his current act is anything to go by, yes.Who still buys DVDs, except for 50p on market stalls or in charity shops? Is he still living in 2002?
That’s it. Knew it was something healthcare job related. Yeah I felt it was true & still do. If it is Leuk, I suspect eventually at a point it will take his life & that’ll maybe sedate all the speculation. Feels like people aren’t entitled to privacy anymore from the papers, he’s never been an overly public person with his personal life in the press - why would he now. Speculating here in a corner of the internet I don’t see as an issue. I think most of the evidence presented support he’s had some serious illness so I think the original Leukaemia shout gets my vote.Just click ‘most liked posts’. It would partly explain why the shows have always been really spread out. So he has plenty of time in between shows etc. And he doesn't over do it.I don't think he'd have any stamina for shows if he was really ill.
I agree. I’d he’d only said (assuming it was him that was ill) “I’ve been diagnosed with XYZ, please respect our privacy while I have treatment” people wouldn’t still be here umpteen years later speculating about what was wrong. I don’t understand the secrecy or the taboo of being diagnosed with cancer (again, assuming it was cancer) in the 21st century.I understand he wants privacy but you can't do public appearances looking like that and expect people not to speculate. Might as well say what's going on.
Daily Motion has it as well. They tend to have stuff that YT blocks thankfully. You can watch it on YouTube. Not great quality but still watchable.
"Gold envelope...must be BUPA".Just click ‘most liked posts’. It was me who questioned it as he said his brother works for BUPA! And yes, it is a major breach but I didn’t believe it, so doesn’t matter!
Maybe just my experience, but I've found a lot of middle age/older men mentally can't/don't want to move on from the time period they were young. Culturally/fashion/music/references ect they seem to freeze! (Note: maybe not all men, but all men I've known!Who still buys DVDs, except for 50p on market stalls or in charity shops? As soon as I read the This Morning story on the DM I thought exactly the same as you all. Did anyone get to see him live?He is looking very old for 52 now. It sounds like he’s lost further weight since the first leg of his tour though? So it doesn’t make sense if this new loss is ill health related as he wouldn’t have toured. Maybe he is on the jabs but god knows why you’d want to look like that
Agree. I've had the DVD box set for PN for years and watched it again with the Boltonian Mr L earlier this year - it's still fab. We went to St Gregory's in Farnworth, the setting for the PC and my BiL cut off the PC sign!? I'm going back in March and I'll ask the BiL to try againIt would bring a whole new audience to the shows on streaming you can't rely on dvd sales this day and age![]()
Agree totally. I keep a working DVD player too because I'm a comedy nut and not everything is available on streaming.A total aside, but I do buy cheap as chips CDs for pre-show music for the cinema I help run but that's because just chucking a disk in the player and putting it on repeat play "just bleeping works" and can be just left playing without another thought and with the minimum of cables. surprisingly more modern music playback systems (unless having bang up to date tracks matters) that stream the music in a similar way to spotify are a pain in the a and need more work/cables/time invested to get the music reliably happening!
