Everyone has issues from their childhood but you can’t keep using it as an excuse to treat people like shit.He’s the type of guy who should stay single,he has a few female best friends who he seems to treat well but treats romantic partners terrible.I think as far as Jowita goes they seem to be very good mates and she’s very supportive of him so I hope it stays that way as he’s definitely not right for her I don’t think,they live completely different lives.

You'd think if his childhood was that bad he'd want to change his ways and be the perfect partner. He's just going to end up a single dirty old man like Wayne Lineker

I personally think they're just mates. Pete seems to have a fair few close female friendships and I suspect he is genuinely a very kind and caring person behind the scenes. It must be very frustrating to have people speculate that every female friendship is more than that and perpetuates the annoying line of thinking that men and women can't be friends.

I didn’t know this thread existed but I’m new to the Pete love. Never thought of him but something has stirred within me from strictly. I keep dreaming of the man I’m also convinced he’s ND. I am too and they always say if you want to find out who else is out them in a room with another ND person. His friendship with Sam, the masking, the tough exterior when we can tell he’s soft deep down. I’m now convinced more than ever that we should be together

I’ve known Pete for a while as he’s a friend of my husbands and he’s definitely not ND. He may seem like a massive walking contradiction but theres the public Pete and the private Pete. Like most of us he presents himself slightly differently in public than he does around friends and family. Yes he does have the tough exterior but I know he had to grow up pretty fast and was always one of the tough kids from quite a young age but he’s genuinely a really great guy

I personally listen to their pod because I find Pete and Sam hilarious together. I much prefer their podcasts where it’s just them two generally chatting away as it’s naturally funny. I don’t see how either of them have changed in that sense. I also don’t really understand the pippa dislike. She’s harmless imo.

They are hilarious together. They’re such a great duo.
I don’t think anyone dislikes Pippa as a person, we don’t know her lol. But she is the PRODUCER and she is producing and stearing the podcast to be more and more about herself and the team. Last episode was heavily about what they do behind the scenes and Pippa was talking about how she goes to meetings and who they’ve been meeting with etc. We don’t need a day in the life vlog about the producer. I’d much rather have a whole episode of Sam and Pete goofing around and being their hilarious selves that’s all.

I felt like that about him and Jamie tonight. I do think they've got the fan bases behind them to keep them in (hopefully). I've said it before and I'll say it again, they (especially Pete) are what Strictly is about. It's about seeing improvement in limited / non dancers for me. I get much more enjoyment from watching them than JB, Tasha and Sarah.

I’m glad it’s not just me that thinks that because I kinda know Pete. I know how hard he’s working at this and he’s getting better every week and think they’re being a bit unfair to him in both treating him as the joke act last week then marking him down so much tonight

I love Pete, he’s a very cool guy. My friend met him on a night out and said he was really down to earth. I trust her judgement.

regarding love he just comes across so guarded and sceptical it will be hard for someone to truly get his wall down. He has absolutely no issues finding women or getting their attention, he could click his fingers and have a girlfriend tomorrow I’m sure, it’s more in his own head.

Your friend is right he is very down to earth, he’s been a friend of my husband’s for years since long before Towie (hate that show) and he’s never changed at all.

Yes you’re spot on about his relationship issues which I don’t see changing anytime soon. Personally I’d love to see Pete settled and happy in a relationship but sadly I’m not holding my breath waiting for it to happen but I will say this his attitude towards woman and himself is definitely getting better than it was previously but right now he’s better off being single

Ah I never knew Pete had a rave thread I love him and think that he’s a really genuine guy. Hopefully Strictly and his dog programme will allow the public to see that side of him rather than who people think he is from what they saw on towie.

How is the podcast this year? I stopped listening at the end of the year due to ‘the team’ I know they’ve got a few bad reviews about it so I wondered if they’ve gone back to basics yet?

It’s getting worse! This was my favourite podcast but I’m considering stopping watching because it’s too much about “the team” now. That Pippa girl interrupted the pod quite a few times the last episode. She was playing YouTube through the mic which cut them off, then sneezed really loudly which again interrupted the pod, then she’s talking so loud. Ugh. So unprofessional. If you need to sneeze, at least try and hide it with a tissue. I don’t really understand these dynamics. We want to listen and watch Sam and Pete!

I really do like Pete and enjoyed the podcast he did with Paul Brunson. It’s Sam that irritates me now, I feel like he’s changed since the jungle and very full of himself. I do think Pete is genuine.

It’s all PR! He is still chasing all the young influencers on insta. I mean it’s had the desired effect as everyone’s talking about it today.
If it was real and they had just started dating there is no chance he would have done a hard launch like that. He’s very private.

Does anyone else think the atrictlybexperience has changed him? I also like that he wasn’t boozing while he was on the show right until the end. Speaks volumes about his respect for Jowitza and commitment to the programme. He took it seriously just not himself. I liked when he said that.

Yeah, I think its been special for him in a number of ways. He's been able to do something to honour his Nan, he's been able to do something that's changed the majority of the publics perception on him, he's reached an audience he's not been able to reach before and I think its done wonders for him mentally.

I think he's a genuinely lovely person and has played up to the persona he's had on TV for a number of years, knowing the more he does the more he can earn. In a similar way to Rylan (albeit not as in your face), there's public Pete and private Pete and the latter is only seen by a select few compared to the former.

I think this experience has possibly enabled him to be more of his authentic and private self publicly and not have to be someone people believe him to be. Plus the not drinking has probably done him so much good.

He said before he did the show that he never understood people saying that they'd made friends for life etc but I think he actually has (particularly Jamie, Wynne, Chris and of course Jovita) and with people he'd have never really interacted with before, which is lovely.

I personally can't wait to see what's next for Peter James Jonathan Wicks.

ETA - this is entirely my opinion, I don't know Pete from Adam (or Sam or John) I'm just popping on my armchair psychologist hat haha.
