That is crazy money , and if that's just the initial consultation. But people are left with no choice but to go to these places, because you just want to be seen.
Exactly. And the amount of stories of women being fobbed off by their GP (assuming they can get an appointment) is it any wonder people look to going private.

Thanks ladies. Had my bloods done today, so got a call later this week to discuss the results and options. Been looking at menopause matters and rockmy menopause websites as recommended by my GP too but nothing quite like first hand experiences.

Great that you've done your research but blood tests, while helpful to rule out anything else (thyroid etc) they are often unhelpful with perimenopause as your hormones fluctuate so much over the month that it just shows one point in time. Just something to bear in mind. For women over 45 at least with symptoms it should be diagnosed on age and symptoms alone (this is NICE guidelines so it makes me really cross when women are fobbed off by their GPs).

I’ve been prescribed patches today haven’t started yet need to collect them tomorrow.
I’m 46 and didn’t need any blood tests doing they just went off my age and symptoms. I’m really hoping it will help the tiredness and body aches I’m really suffering with hip pain

That's exactly what the bloods are for - the check my thyroid etc, but thank you, I'm 44, so according to NICE what they're doing is right I guess. Will find out what's next on Thursday.

What answer have people found for itching? Sometimes my arms are so itchy. Don't know whether it's a menopause thing, or just the heating/winter thing.

Has anyone had anaemia caused by flooding periods?

Mine are absolutely wild at the moment and I’ve sort of been managing them with Tranexamic acid. However with my last period I started being permanently dizzy and light headed and it hasn’t gone away. I’ve got blood tests next week to check what’s going on.

My ferritin was 16 in summer last year so maybe I’ve just run out.

I have used antihistamines at times and eurax cream at others. The eurax is quite good.

Hi all, new to this forum but still in a battle with my GP for HRT.. Ive done all the tests bloods etc but she still won't prescribe anything for me, not even a sleeping pill!
Anyways I've been taking menomin supplements for the last 6 mths and they are deft helping but I am still not sleeping and I'm exhausted. Anyone any tips for sleeping? Thanks

My arms/shoulder blades are crazily itchy atm. I don't think heating and winter long sleeves help at all.
I've tried various things and the ones that seem to be working 🤞 are Piriton antihistamine tablets, combined with hydrocortisone cream (over the counter from Boots for eg - only about £3).
As mentioned Eurax is good too.
If I've scratched so much the skin is broken I've also used Germolene just to stop any infection spreading. Belt and braces.
It can be a misery.

If you haven't had an ultrasound it would be worth pestering your GP until you get one. I had a few flooding episodes and was sent for a scan. I've got fibroids that need treatment or I will keep having flooding. So it was definitely worth me getting checked.

Flooding is a nightmare to deal with, sorry you're going through it too.

The only thing has helped me is HRT. Before that I was getting 5 hours of broken sleep a night. I felt so horrendous.

I had to go private in the first instance to get medication as im 40 and my GP didn't think I needed HRT yet🙄.

Once I had a private prescription I managed to get my GP to take over prescribing.

I'd definitely keep on at your GP or if you can afford it, go private. We shouldn't have to make so much effort to get medication, it infuriates me.

I hope you find a way through it.

The aches I get in my ankles and hips are really bad more so at night, someone previously stated on this to do exercises for your hips, but it’s more the aches in my ankle joints that are the worse

There are specific exercises for ankle joints too. If you look up functional movement you will find them I do mixture Pilates and FM and if defo helps.

Really grumpy and irritable at the moment, due on, pmt is getting worse with age and then had partner say, thinking he's funny "do you know why they call it pmt? Cos mad cow disease was taken".
Not bleeping funny 😔

Wow, I thought I was bad at 7. My GP asked if I was in a car crash as at that level he feared I was bleeding internally. He still didn't refer me for any investigation though
🤷‍♀️

I was dizzy, and constantly tired. I would sit down with a coffee in the afternoon and often just fell asleep, I had a few near misses with scalding myself with the coffee. It was awful. Women's health around menstruation is not taken seriously, we are just expected to cope.

I got my patches today but it says to use within 5 days of your period starting so I will have to wait for my next one as it’s been 2 weeks
