Anyone else having flu like symptoms every 4 weeks, period or not?

Dr Google says it's another fun benefit of peri
I feel permanently run down like on the verge of a cold at all times but never actually getting sick it’s so weird. I have an appointment at the menopause clinic this week I’m hoping to try HRT

How can I lose the peri weight without going down the ozempic route? I feel like my metabolism has ground to a halt.
Weight lifting is your friend here, 3/5 times a week plus low intensity ie walking, swimming etc.

Lifting weights will stimulate your muscles to burn large even when you’re sat down the next day. Diet is also key, put your details into a calculator and it will give you your daily calories for maintenance or weight loss. Plus the protein/carbs/fats you should be aiming for daily. Protein is essential.

When you get to peri menopause it’s critical to build muscle which will aid us into old age, think of it as - do I want to get off the sofa without huffing and puffing in ten years time?

The old adage of ‘use it or lose it’ is also important, mobility of our joints and the connective tissue deteriorates with age as well as losing muscle. We need to work our bodies for them to operate in an optimal way.

I know it sounds a bit preachy but think of some people around you at 65+ who are not very mobile. That will be us in not that long if we’re not careful!

I need to get back to my weights - had to stop due to a flare up on my back, probably due to menopause. It definitely helped me feel better and my clothes feel better. My friend and I motivate ourselves by saying we want to be able to wipe our own arses when we are 80 🙈😂

My IBS is worse too. Bloat like mad whenever I eat, and it doesn't matter what it is I eat, my stomach blows up and I feel so uncomfortable 😣

Something similar happened to me. I had a blood test and my oestrogen was unreadable. The doctor put it down to an absorption issue with the patches and I had to move on to the gel. Might be worth a hrt check if you think it could be related.

Those of you ladies who are on HRT, how do you find it?

I had an appt with my GP the other day and I've got an appt coming up to get bloods done to rule anything out like thyroid etc and then I've got a follow up. She's asked me to think about HRT (oral, patches, spray). What's your experiences?

I love my HRT and will take it forever, if I need it that long. I'm on the twice weekly patches plus progesterone tablets at night. I'm on continuous HRT, to help stable my moods and hormones.

I went from being a crying, tired, aching mess, to now feeling more my old self. I'm still not back to my old self completely but an awful lot better.

I have been taking HRT for a while. Had a blood test to check my oestrogen levels and my levels (which were already low) have gone up by 10, so still low. I have an appointment booked but what a waste of time.

This is exactly me. Highly recommend HRT

Do the patches stay on ok?

Yes they do for me. I rotate between my hips and bottom. So 4 different locations, and so far I've not had a patch fall off.

I'm on a higher dose of estrogen so went with patches because it would be a lot of gel if I went via that route.

The patches are larger than I'd like, but I dont mind.

Got my first ever flood. Luckily I was metres from a loo and had a pantyliner so caught it in time. I just avoided destroying my light grey chair in an open plan office.
We have light grey chairs in our new office too ..as someone who has terrible flooding on 1st 2 days of period I'm terrified of having an accident on one of these chairs
Our old chairs were black i cant believe for a firm thats supposed to be menopause friendly that they didn't think that 1/2 the workforce are women and that t heavy periods might affect many staff regardless of their age.so pale grey chairs were not the wisest of choices especially as there have been a lot of drink spillages in them !

I tried both patches and spray before going on to 4 pumps of the gel. It's a game changer. I feel like my old self. Anxiety gone, night swears gone and other things I had disappeared. Only thing that I do have is brain fog but getting better and tiredness is still there.

Article in the Guardian today about the monetisation of menopause. Sorry I can't do the archive thingy! But my biopsy came back clear which now means I can start being dealt with as menopausal. Must chase up blood results too.

It is an absolute license to print money from desperate people. I heard a menopause expert say on a podcast recently that her clinic sees 2-3000 women a month. Those appointments are £200 each at least - so you do the maths.

That is crazy money , and if that's just the initial consultation. But people are left with no choice but to go to these places, because you just want to be seen.
