I’m so sorry for everyone else going through this bs. It’s so tit that you only really become aware of it when you’re actually in it. I hope the next generation are more informed and aware ❤

I was prescribed these today. Hoping for a positive outcome from them - is anyone else on them?

This is what I'm on. Two pumps of the gel every night, and the tablets are 2 every night for the first 14 days of the month. Been on them for around 5 months now and they're definitely helping. I still get hot flashes and night sweats but compared to what I was getting before they've definitely reduced. I'm still itchy as hell, but I also have MCAS so it could be that 🤷‍♀️

My anxiety was through the roof before I started on this, and it has definitely improved.

This must be GP’s immediate go too as I had this to start with. I have my fingers crossed that they help you.

Re the comment on the next generation . I would like to see a huge shift in how the medical profession assess perimenopause. Despite the improvements to women’s healthcare there are still too many women who do not get listened or get belittled or are gaslighted into believing they know nothing about their own bodies . It makes me so angry that women have to fight to be heard. So I wish to see massive changes in how gps and other medical professionals treat women who go to them for help and support.

Before HRT, these are some of mine…
Husband made me a sandwich
Saw a newborn in Tesco (total stranger) & wanted to hold it 🫤
Realised the cat won’t live forever
Ran out of pegs and had a few items still to go out.
Bought wrong kitchen cleaner and didn’t like the smell.
Cleaner at work moved my second screen and coasters 😬
And yes, I get they are bonkers but the tears just came out of no where! I had 1 episode where the neighbours cut his conifers and I was livid! Tried send my husband over to say he had done a rubbish job, it was ridiculous & I was almost hysterical 😩
I almost burst into tears over Whiskas Kitten food. I have a healthy cat at home! The weirdest one was seeing a beautiful little bantam rooster at a garden centre and being completely overcome, for no real reason.

Ah, so I’ve been given the Microgynon of H.R.T. The one main difference after one day I can say were the 4/5 intense dreams I had in a row last night. So realistic too! They all involved being ducked over or bleeping up so would rather not have that every night 😬

Can I ask you lovely ladies a question? My last period was middle of June. No period in July and nothing yet in August. Had a partial accident with our contraception 2.5 weeks ago and took the morning after pill. Still no period. I’m so paranoid now I’m doing pregnancy tests nearly every day but negative. I’m out of my mind with worry. 🫢

This happened to me recently as well. I ended up doing three tests. All negative. It came eventually over three months later. Then two in a month.🤣 It’s so frustrating / worrying. I feel your pain. The stress then I think delays it even more.

Anyone else suffering with dry nose?! Mine has been driving me scatty for over a year now. It's dry to the point of cracking like when you have a nasty cold. I refuse to go to the doctor about my effing nose 🫠🤣 but it genuinely is an almost daily annoyance. I use a hydrating spray thing which helps a bit and I've started taking cod liver oil which I think should improve the skin generally but wonder if anyone else has any tips?

Amelioriate replenishing facial cream has been brilliant when I've had patches of dry skin or gone in too hard with actives or retinol. It's often on offer on Amazon although it isn't very expensive full price

Thank you! My problem is mostly inside the nostrils unfortunately 😕 but I will definitely try that around the outside.

I find savlon left on overnight on any dry patches works well. Not sure how far up the nostrils it would be safe to use, but maybe just on the inside?

I’m not sure if this is the right thread to post although I think it’s peri related.

My confidence is through the floor at the moment and I’ve got severe paranoia. I’m happily married for almost 30 years but I have an overwhelming sense of dread that my husband doesn’t find me attractive anymore, I’m seeking constant validation about myself and I’m getting on my own nerves and finding it all a bit pathetic tbh.

He hasn’t given me any reason to think this, he’s his usual self. I don’t know if it’s peri, empty nest syndrome or my age, new chapter and all that.

Anyone got any tips to feel more confident about yourself, I think that I would feel better if I loved myself a bit more but not in a ‘I love myself’ sense!

Collagen is fab for dryness and Weights are really good at making u feel better about yourself.

I’ve got an attack of costochrondinitis - which seems to be happening more and more and it’s just hit me it’s probably bloody peri related isn’t it 🙄

Why don't you tell him what you've just told us and see what he says? Once he realises how you feel, he'll probably be happy to keep letting you know he loves you.

Not sure if this has been covered already but I have personally found mounjaro to allieve a lot of my perimenopause symptoms. Brain fog, headaches, irregular and heavy periods, anxiety, lack of sleep, general knackardness, bloating, poor skin condition, etc. Part of me wonders if its just my body moving to a more healthy weight but I just wanted to share it in case anyone else has had a similar experience?

For anyone else who has been experiencing heavy periods only in the morning, then nothing all day and again the next morning and was confused like me! I have discovered the answer!! 👇

I ASKED
Is it normal with perimenopause to bleed heavy in the morning then nothing all day then again the next morning?

ANSWER! 👇

Yes — changes in bleeding patterns like the one you describe can be quite common during perimenopause. As your hormone levels (especially estrogen and progesterone) fluctuate, your uterus lining (endometrium) can build up and shed in irregular ways.

Some women notice:-
  • Heavier bleeding at certain times of day, often in the morning after lying down overnight. Blood can pool in the uterus while you’re asleep, then flow more heavily once you get up and move around.
  • Stops or lightens during the day, especially if the lining has already emptied that morning.
  • Then returns again the next day, depending on how much lining is still left to shed.
This kind of stop–start pattern isn’t unusual in perimenopause.

1.
Hormone fluctuations
  • In your 40s (sometimes earlier), the ovaries don’t release eggs regularly anymore.
  • This means progesterone (the hormone that stabilises and helps shed the uterine lining evenly) is often low.
  • Meanwhile, estrogen can still be high and a bit unpredictable → it keeps stimulating the uterine lining to grow.
  • Result: the lining may become thicker and more unstable, so when it sheds, bleeding can be heavier or patchy.
2.
Pooling of blood overnight
  • When you’re lying down, gravity slows blood flow out of the uterus.
  • Blood may collect inside, so when you get up in the morning, it can feel like a sudden gush.
  • Once the pooled blood clears, you might hardly bleed through the day—until more lining breaks down again overnight.
3.
Stop–start shedding
  • Without regular ovulation, the lining sometimes sheds in pieces instead of all at once.
  • That’s why you can bleed heavily one morning, stop for hours, then have another surge the next morning.
but please do get checked by your
GP if you notice any of the following:

  • Bleeding that is very heavy (soaking through pads/tampons in under an hour).
  • Periods that last much longer than usual (more than 7–8 days).
  • Passing large clots frequently.
  • Bleeding between periods or after sex.
  • Any bleeding after your periods have fully stopped for 12 months (postmenopause)

Thank you for this. My grandma sadly passed away from complications arising from uterine cancer. She bled for years in her 70s but was too ashamed to tell anyone and it was my mum who figured it out when she was having problems in the loo. By that point it was too late. Hopefully, my mum’s generation (although I’m battling with her about a UTI at the moment 😫) and ours are more open and we can prevent similar things from happening. 💔
