40 for me and the stupid itchy ears, now it's random aches and pains everywhere plus the stupid anxiety. Honest to jaysus, the last few weeks it's been foot pain but just overall body aches that come and go. This craic is just soooo unfair. Why can't it just be a few crap periods and then we're done?! 🙄 This endless list of minor weird stuff is driving me bananas 😭😬

Itchy dry skin sufferers. I think I've found something good.
Mixa cica balm barrier skin repair. In a tube. Mine was about £6 in Superdrug. You can get large pots too but I haven't tried them. Omg the instant relief. Just like a blanket of calm on my poor skin and I've tried so many 😩 . Early days but so far so good 🤞 I also tried it as a facial moisturiser (it says you can). It's pretty good - a bit like the Weleda Skin food. But completely unscented.

For me looking back I think symptoms started around 36. I recall a couple of periods being quite heavy which is unusual for me. It was during the Covid pandemic back then so I put it down to stress. When I mentioned it to a doctor a while after she said it could be a sign of peri.
But since I turned 40 it’s like a switch was flicked on!
Same for me. The first major sign (I now know) that I experienced was sleep disruption in my late 30's and then when I turned 40 it was like everything just stopped working.

Oh I hope it works out. That whole Mixa range looks good and so cheap.
I like it because it doesn't sting scratches 😩
Some lotions are good but they sting like a mofo on anything a bit raw.

Oh heavens, speaking of stinging, I used my new super strength antiperspirant last night. I used it after my shower and then read the bottle - do not use immediately after bathing. Uh oh, but how bad could it be, maybe just not as effective? OMG the pain, the burning, the itching. I’m still raw today 😭

Aloe Vera gel might help. From my own experience I think these antiperspirants sting when there's still moisture on your body. Ouch.

It can take many different forms for me, strap in

Uneasy, unsettled, jittery, palpitations, queasy, dizzy, catastrophising, ruminating, nervous, this sense of impending doom etc

but the very worst it’s ever been was earlier this year when I was just so frightened, and I couldn’t tell you what of, my doctor kept asking and I had no answer…I just couldn’t stop shaking and felt entirely overwhelmed by the simplest things

have you ever stepped out onto the road to cross and you hadn’t noticed a car coming and, just as you jump back, it whizzes by blaring its horn and you realise how close to being hit you just were and your heart is racing and beating out of your body…it’s like that feeling, but for hours, and you’re just trying to chill at home on your sofa
Exactly this 😢

It is a bargain - I have just ordered some different things from the range to try as well as the balm. Menopause makes me impulse shop as well as itch ! Thanks again

Could I ask when everyone started getting peri symptoms? I’m 36 and I keep being told I’m “too young” but I honestly don’t know what else it could be and I match up to lots of the online symptoms lists and lots of anecdotal things I’ve heard from friends/colleagues who are in peri. I just want to know I’m not going mad!
I wonder too, I'm 35 and have had various symptoms for a while, including very short but painful periods, serious night sweats before period, ive always had sleeping issues but they got worse recently especially during PMS etc. What else could it really be? GP says it's normal and all my blood tests are fine but it definitely doesnt feel normal !

Urgh my stomach. Im over weight I know but if I didn’t know different I’d think I was pregnant with my belly. Nothing else is getting bigger but my waist line on my trousers are so tight - I have no clue what to wear now the weathers warming up and it’s making me cry this morning - which tbh doesn’t take much 🙄

I’m swapping to Slynd I think it’s called for my progesterone as it’s meant to help - has anyone tried it?

I feel so large old and dumpy 🙄
I'm the same. It's making me so miserable. I feel so unattractive.

Does anyone else just feel utterly exhausted some days for no good reason? Just no energy at all and your limbs feel heavy and everything seems like a supreme effort.

Yes 😩
If I've had a busyish couple if days the next few can be awful. So weak. Limbs feel as weak as cooked spaghetti. But heavy. Can barely get upstairs to lie down.

constantly! I started HRT 2 weeks ago and I feel like I've been run over by a bus. My symptoms weren't that bad but my GP suggested trying it and I'm starting to wish I hadn't as I feel absolutely rubbish.

Has anyone else experienced heavy bleeding after starting the meds? (I'm on oestrogel and continuous micronised progesterone) I thought I was done and dusted with all that but it's here with a vengeance and I do not like it at all! 😩

I’m on an estrogen patch and then combined patch for two weeks. I’m in my second month. The first month the combined patch made feel very bloated and I have had bleeding this week. I did some research and breakthrough bleeding is quite common particularly whilst the body gets used to the HRT. But I think the advice is different for post menopausal women.

A couple of podcasts or Instagram stories I’ve listened to lately (I can’t remember which), anyway they were saying that the drop in Estrogen can result in inflammation in the body. I’ve be battling an unexplained injury on and off for nearly 6 months. My physio is baffled as I hadn’t pulled anything, pushed too much or tweaked anything. So all he could say is that perhaps it’s stress or inflammation on the body. But lately hearing about the effects of a fall in estrogen has me thinking that’s hardly causing my injury, is it?

Do blood tests check hormone levels?

If you specifically request relevant hormone levels (FSH, oestrogen and progesterone). But peri is diagnosed by symptoms not blood tests as hormone levels can fluctuate so much during that period. I know that there is something relating to shoulder pain caused by peri but can’t remember the specifics so it’s not impossible that your issue is hormone related.

Speaking of periods, I hadn’t had any in a year (due to low body weight) and then I start HRT and now seem to get one every two weeks. It’s horrible
