I do low sugar too, but never heard of spironolactone, so thank you, off to investigate 💗
It’s a prescribed mild diuretic, but also lowers androgens too. If you have an endo they should be able to prescribe it x

Does anyone else get foggy head? It’s not a headache as such, just feel like my head is full of cotton wool and I suddenly feel really tired and incredibly snappy. I don’t feel like doing anything yet if I push through it I can actually feel a bit better. It comes and goes, particularly of a weekend when I’m not at work and out of routine. I am on Evorel patches but just wondering if it’s a menopause thing or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep. Definitely familiar

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining.

I am 35 years old and have a toddler.
Before I had the baby my periods were perfect, every 29 days, light bleed and so on.

Since the c section I’ve had nothing but problems. Periods took 9 months to come back. And were so heavy I was flooding Pads every hour.

I’ve not had a bleed now for 4 months. And I am flagging up all symptoms of early menopause. Bloated/larger tummy, sweating SO much (mainly forehead and top lip), always boiling hot, my moods are dreadful. I am permanently in a really foul mood. Within minutes of being up for the day I want to rip someone’s head off. I have such little tolerance for my toddler and I’m becoming a really shouty mum and I hate it. I am really forgetful at the minute too (the most recent symptom), which is fueling my bad mood. E.g I’ll put something down right in front of my face and then can’t find it. Doing silly things like dropping stuff and being clumsy.

my main irritant is the bad mood. I hate the person I am right now I am full of so much anger.

my doctor has arranged a thyroid blood test.

Is spotting between periods a peri thing ?
On the whole my periods are usually pretty regular. I've had the odd unexpected one but they've settled into a new , shorter cycle.

It's not unheard of at 35. Whats your sleep like? That always makes for a fun mood and toddlers are knackering at the best of times.

I suspect at your age you are in for an uphill fight to convince a GP but dig your heels in. Many of us here have had the mother of all battles to get HRT in our forties. Don't let them fob you off, if you suspect you're peri make sure they test and don't let them tell you that you're depressed etc, you'd be surprised how many GP's prefer to throw anti depressants at the problem rather than accepting that it is peri menopause.

Hope you don’t mind a few questions.. you all seem so knowledgeable 😊.

I’ve been on the progesterone only pill for over 20 years due to v heavy periods (can’t be on the normal pill because I have cluster headaches). All fine until 2020 (age 39) when I started getting v heavy, irregular periods. Was looked at, bloods, ultrasound all fine. No sign of peri.

Fast forward to now, periods now 3 week/6week cycle WFK? Feel so tired all the time (I used to run ultras and now can barely spin for 30 minutes), get hot and irritated v easily. My stomach is also bloated pretty much all the time, before it was only week before my period.

My question is that because I can’t be on oestrogen HRT (because of clusters- which are doing a number on me atm), are there any other things I can take to alleviate symptoms? Supplements etc? Do I need to come off progesterone pill for these (pill is not for contraception )?

Ten years of this? Why can’t I get through this like Davina?

Anyone else gone off exercise eg running if I’m being specific. I used to be in a running club- ran miles each week and loved it. Now I just cba and would rather have a cake 🤣😅

Edited to add just noticed you seem to have the same issues - I have only ever done one marathon but would run halves and ten miles easily.

Totally. I am injured so running is a bit hit and miss but I could spin and then do circuits plus weights and now one spin session finishes me off.

It’s rubbish isn’t it. I do circuits and haven’t been for a couple of weeks so decided to do some kettle bell exercises and hardly managed any. Now I ache all over.

Can I throw out a question to everyone?

Without giving it too much thought (just the first word or words that come to mind) how do you generally feel - physically - on a day-to-day basis?

The hairs on my chin are getting ridiculous. I plucked 10 out yesterday. 10!!! And I’ve found more today. Thank duck the majority are fair

Anxious
I have a couple of ones coming out of the middle of my cheek. Nice. Thanks for that.

One word. Begins with “f”. Ends with “ed”

Not completely certain if I’m peri or not . I’m almost 50 and have lots of things going on which could be considered peri or I could just be an overweight , anxious and tired parent.

Please can someone create a poll asking what age you became peri or full menopause. Some ladies I know are early 30s some 40s and some 50s.

I spot bleed about a week before I come on.

I’ve just 40 ans I feel like change is happening,
The last few months I’ve had headaches about 10 days before I’m on, so bad not even painkillers help!
This cycle is all over the place, I stopped tracking on my health app and I have no clue! My last period was 3 days light and pain free! I wear a cup n it wasn’t nearly as full after a day/ night. But since Friday night I’ve had awful cramp like pains felt like I was constipated, today ita been like a dull pain, my friend said it could be ovulationing.
I’m due my smear but don’t want to book it till I’ve sussed out my cycle again!

I only connected it was hormonal in my late 40s, just thought I was stressed and that was causing the extreme anxiety. Looking back and with greater knowledge of the symptoms I’d been peri for 4 or 5 years ie mid 40s. If you’re almost 50, it’s highly unlikely that you’re not peri

I’ve not had a period for 10 years because I’ve had the mirena coil twice .. I’m at the end of the 2nd one now .
If I’m not peri does that mean I’m going straight into the menopause. I’ve read conflicting info so I’m hugely confused ( is that a sign 🤔)

I follow lots of menopause DrS and podcast but I’m none the wiser .
