I actually just went back to the book in my kindle app to check and Gerry agar doesn’t describe rimming at all in this context! She just says Michael “gave extra time and attention when he went down on Paula” [because she had a form of thrush caused by too much penetration]. I don't think he forced into anything but she being somewhat needy probably worried that if she didn't he would find someone else which he probably would have as he came acress as a classic womaniser. And she wasn't getting any younger and there were plenty of younger and better looking women around who would jump into the sack with him.
