I was a listener to the station from when I was about 13 I think when I was trying to impress the brother of a school mate. Accidentally got into music that way and then eventually Elis and John! All because I fancied someone

Ha! That's loosely how I got into Elis and John too (not the Xfm bit mind). But the fancying someone.

My ex full time BF was LOVED their podcast and kept talking about them, telling me how much I should listen blah blah - it was round about the time they were leaving Xfm, and I listened to a few (really as a way of having something else in common with my ex), and I found I got where he was coming from.

My relationship ended not much later, but my love for Elis and John only grew. I did wonder if it would wane after we broke up but not even remotely Became a retro oner, have seen the lads live, have merch in the house. All because I wanted to impress my ex essentially.

Same here swish! My FTB was a massive fan, and recommended the pod to me. I caught up and he stopped listening! We are still together and he says he will catch up but he’s got 4 years to get through…

To fill the gap between now and The Great Reset, I've decided to go back to the very beginning and become a retro oner. Episode 1 has really bad sound quality although hearing Elis say "textual" again has made me feel all funny.

My favourite xfm/radio x podcast is Tick Tock Robins. The first 30 mins or so is quite possibly my favourite bit of audio ever and never ever fails to cheer me up. If I ever recommend the lads to anyway I always go with that and the amount of times I've played it is quite frankly embarrassing but it's just perfection to me.

I generally swing between the two to be fair. When I started listening to them I was more of a John but then Elis and his dulcet tones drew me in... but then often you see John and its like "oh no wait, its definitely John".

Quite frankly I'd have them both, with a side of Producer Dave and Acaster for afters.

If I'm being really greedy I'll have Rob Beckett for a late pudding.

Also going to listen to it in the not too distant future as even talking about it reminds me of how enjoyable it is.

Dave's exasperated tone, John's "logic" on why popping to Pret is acceptable. Elis just vibing. It's just the bloody best.

Oh god yeah. The most surprising thing about it but then you realise of COURSE he knows all about scatman John... why wouldn't he!

Oh and when Elis is winding him up about being scatty and John is like "that's not me. I'm not that guy. I'm so not that guy you had to call my girlfriend to figure out what was going on" and elis... "we thought you were being scatty together John"

I think he would make a wonderful essayist. Some collected works or something. He’s funny, as we know, but the depth of emotion in his writing is genuinely brilliant. I was going between laughing and almost crying!

To be honest, I felt rather sad reading his Vibemail, because he sounds ill :/ but if that's just me who thinks that, so be it! (and I hope he isn't)

Also, what is with the person kicking off on the PCD group because someone RUINED their life by revealing that JR is on TM next season?! I mean, perspective, people! It's not even a TM group. It reminded me of a PCD group post I read a while back where someone said "I haven't listened to the podcast yet, no spoilers please", and I just realise how much I don't understand some people

One of the reasons that I really enjoyed listening to our boys is because I could totally relate to John's rants about perfection, and I understood where he was coming from in that vibemail. As my boyfriend got listening to the Pod/John, and seeing his standup, he said - now I'm starting to realise how you think.

That said, I'm currently on the waiting list to see if I'm neurodivergent so there is something wrong with me
