It was like that before the bbc days. I really dislike how it is used as content for the show and news is broken in the group first. It inflates the members’ importance and the group is not well moderated. Dave should take more responsibility, the group is intrinsically linked to the show.

The show's text topic this week is stories of negging (Lou S is in this week for Elis and its happened to her) and its gone down like a lead balloon in the group. I personally don't think it's normalising it and more laughing at something that's so objectively bad. But thats seemingly just me.

Oh dear. What a time to announce that topic 🙈

They rely on that group too much for content

I was meaning waaaaay back when. Early days of it. It’s just become something unpleasant. Mining it for content is actually pretty lazy and given the shows are going to pre-record, I imagine ALL the content will now come from the group which is an error

Agree, I think the producers should all be admins in there and approve posts if they are going to use it for content. There are some absolutely grim attention seekers in there (of all genders), most of whom I've blocked, but at the same time it is bloody useful if you need to fix your dishwasher/get advice/etc.

Wait, what's happened to the show? It's just not on the radio at all any more?!
it is. It got bumped today for a drive special because of the hostage release in Gaza. It was still showing on the schedule until this morning so last minute decision I assume.

And Producer Matt was still asking for contributions to the text topic this morning (with it apparently being switched from the very unpopular negging one).

I get annoyed when it gets bumped for news, despite never listening live, because I never listen to/watch/read the news to protect my MH (would recommend, it works wonders). I realise this doesn't impact me because we still get the pod, but I think it must be awful for those in similar situs to me who lose their 'light relief'.

Not really sure if this makes sense or not but you'll all be pleased to know that there are already tens of duplicative posts in the FB group getting very angry about it.

In other news, Colin Murray is taking the boys' Friday slot from next year.

I know exactly what you mean and it contributes to the idea that 5Live isn't really the best place for them.

Ah phew, I thought it a bit weird that they had suddenly been whipped off air, but it's the dreaded news again....

How does the Colin Murray thing mean that their two podcast best bits are still going to be broadcast? Make it make sense!

What a weird and rude thing to say when there are still tickets available for Dublin.
Mans got 150 good-seat tickets to sell for Salford by Sunday, which being near the BBC is probably a bigger deal to fill than Whelans, in case of any big wigs turning up. A few other UK venues haven't sold out yet either. I don't think it's that deep.

He has literally said that these are the last tickets for the Howl tour anywhere. They are not.

When is the new format starting?
Confirmed on today's show - in a confusing way - it'll be early Feb, but think there will be a break after Christmas until then as John is burnt out after his tour.

It'll be podcasts on Friday and Tuesday, with highlights from the previous week on the radio Fridays 1-2.

Elis said on the FB group that they will still be recording them at the same time so they will still have Adrian Chiles on for anyone who loves those bits. All sounds a bit odd and is a bit of a thing for the BBC to pay them out of a different budget.

To be honest I love them but always thought they'd be taken off 5Live after a year as it doesn't really fit the station at all!
