Double posting like a twit but I cannot contain my anger any longer. On a daily basis I see posts in the PCD group asking what time John’s tour show starts/ends. duck me. How do these people function on a daily basis?

Anyway John’s one year sobriety post was bloody lovely yesterday wasn’t it.
I'm so glad I'm not in that group! Generally I love the community surrounding the PCDs (and the Distant Pod community too, although slightly different) but I feel like they would just put me off SO much.

It's so bloody lovely. He's really thriving and seems to be in such an amazing headspace. It seems off to day you're proud of someone you've never met but I really am. ❤

I saw John's show a couple of weeks ago, and also recently received a message from him via Cameo (thanks to a very kind friend for my birthday) and both together have really got me thinking about whether or not I want to follow him down a similar path. Not so much AA and being entirely sober but maybe a "broadly sober" person with an more active attitude of gratitude (IYKYK). Seeing his posts make it seem quite attainable if that makes sense?

Good luck to you! If you've not already, I'd highly recommend Adrian Chiles' book, albeit featuring a now outdated chapter from John on moderation. I listened to the audiobook a while ago and it has really helped me cut down to a place where I am happy with my drinking.

Yes, well done to John, and good luck to those he is inspiring to take a more sober route.

I have to say though (please don't hate me), that his post did read slightly like something a certain GUSET would write... it was the bit where everyone clapped, I think. It just tickled me ;)

Absolutely great stuff for him though.

I'm a few weeks behind on the show. I think it has lost its momentum with a different guest host every week... I'll still catch up eventually but it's just not the same or even close.

As someone who used to work in communications, it’s hilarious to me that they’ve not only given those quotes for a press release, but it’s been approved and issued. Fantastic stuff.

I know 😂 when I read John’s quote I had to do a double check that it was legit.

I’m hoping for more #content like the pre-pandemic bonus podcasts

The way I RAN here when I saw this news! Absolutely thrilled to see the boys getting double wedge from the BBC. Elis won't have a free second now!

Hopefully the double pods will make the time between now and TM go a lot quicker because I am too excited for it

The quotes. They are a pair of silly sausages.

So, it's going to be two podcasts per week, but no live show! Just best bits of the pods broadcast where the show used to be :(

That's a bit sad - it could just be any old podcast in that case. Ah well, I'm sure there are reasons...

It’s pretty much what is on before them - a podcast pre record. It’s still a Friday fix plus another podcast. Save for the chat with Adrian / Tony, I can’t say there would be a massive shift in content? I think it’s unsustainable to be doing a live show every week when they are already pulled in different directions so I’m happy it’s not going completely!

Ditto… would much prefer pre-records to fit between their schedules rather than splitting presenters every week as it currently is. Most of the audience generated content comes from the FB page anyway. I’d also say they also found they have more podcasts listens than those listening live (although maybe not, not really basing this on anything 😂 just a theory)

plus I reckon they’ll be “looser” on a podcast, making for great #content

I do like their podcasts (was especially sad when the isolation tapes ended). Brodcasting live definitely has a different vibe.

I'm glad they'll still be around to listen to, but yeah.
