I can’t take Lou seriously with this book now. Default parent but yet again has the privilege of family support in the form of her Dad joining them on the flight
Aye, nobody is denying that she’s the default parent- but aren’t most stay at home parents, the default? I’m the default parent and I doubt I’d have time for multiple weekends away without the kids, time to write a book, go to Disney multiple times a year, have time to join my husband in Australia while he’s working. Embrace the privilege of being that default parent!

I thought they were desperate when I seen robs insta story of him naked with the big book cover over him (🤢) but when I seen the table at the show I ran here.

I can’t be arsed with the ‘little old me wrote a book, I’m so humble and normalI find it so cringe with a hint of desperation to be liked.

I feel like this push into the limelight has been strategically planned, with the weight-loss then her Instagram being public then more and more voice notes on the pod, then a book which is random af in my opinion.

Like a poster above mentioned if she didn’t want the attention why not just write it under another name?

Edited to amend typo

‘Making Lou do’… is that how she sells it to him?! 🤣 Ffs Lou, go and get a full time job then. Make him stay at home for a bit. It’s alright him having this working class chip on his shoulder and thinking he has to work all the time, tell him to get over it and get his arse home. Oh no wait, then you can’t do what you want to do. Which is what? Dragging two whining pre-teens across the world to eat plain pasta and demand everything they see. All while being resentful about being ‘default’ parent- a position you put yourself in.
The more I think about the “default parent” thing the more it annoys me. You’re not the default parent if you agree as a couple that one of you earns significantly higher than the other, and there is no need for you both to work. The parenting is now her job, the earning is his. If she doesn’t want that job, then she should get a job out of the home and then she can moan about being the default parent, and will be in the same position as millions of other mothers.

Expecting the delivery people to empty your dishwasher is mental! I know Josh and Rose love workmen doing stuff for them, but this is the most out of touch I’ve ever heard Josh get!

Incidentally, I note the ‘default parent’ just had a mates holiday.
For many reasons (and I’m not moaning!), I have had one childfree night in 7.5 years and I STILL haven’t felt compelled to right a book about it. She’s insufferably entitled and spoilt.

My guess is , she wanted to do something to fulfill her … a creative endeavour as it didn’t need to be a moneymaker as Rob earns so well , and she also wanted something she could sell to the audience that Rob has

she decided to try and do a fashion course as she thought she might shill some handbags to the parenting hell listeners but then … she wrote a blog post about being a parent , and because she’s got a platform and parenting hell is a great promotional tool , a literary agent got in touch . And said hey Lou , want to write a book . Publisher gave her a fat advance because she’s a guaranteed sell and lo and behold …. Lou thought yeah that’ll do to fulfill my creative pursuits , and sacked off the fashion course

I know they haven't always been wealthy but most of their parenting advice seems to be throw money at the problem - order 10 pairs of shoes instead of going to a shop, bribe child to put a plaster on their knee, take ipads everywhere, dangle the latest fad item to induce good behavior...

“The amount of parenting I’m making Lou do, I’d say yes to anything she asks,” is Rob’s justification for them being in Orlando again over Easter. I’m coming from a very different perspective as a single parent with an abusive ex but I really don’t think she has anything to complain about. She’s parenting because her husband is out earning enough that she and her kids can have the lifestyle they do.

It’s so hard because once you notice Rob picking at everything Josh does (and also Josh not really doing it back) you can’t unnotice it.

I was a bit 👀 when Rob was so flippant about Josh’s cat dying. I try not everyone is a pet person and it’s always seemed to me that Rob goes along with the pets because Lou wants them, whereas Josh seems to have genuine affection for his cat (now cats) and it seemed a bit harsh to be banding on about when the cat dies. Can’t imagine being like that with one of my friends, but I am very much a pet person (someone Rob would probably describe as dirty and disgusting)

Long time lurker to this thread. But wow this episode really put me off Rob. I always gave him the benefit of the doubt of the butting in taking over being abit adhd etc but he was obnoxious this week towards Josh. And the way he goes on about being recognised, sorry but isn't the public the reason you can pay for private school. Doing a few selfies here and there isn't that bad. Lou wouldn't even have her book out if she wasn't robs wife. I could totally be friends with Josh and rose though.

On the Rest is Entertainment I'm sure they said 70% of podcasts are watched now instead of just listening. I was so surprised to hear that. To me podcasts are for listening also when I'm out walking or driving etc.

James Acaster on Romesh's podcast made a very good joke about is it hell if there's nannies involved? Joking that both Rob and Josh have nannies, Romesh found it funny.

Both Rob and Lou use the term 'solo parenting' a LOT. Which i think is so offensive so single parents.

I am married, if my husband is away with work then i am still married - I have the emotional support and the financial support and I know he is coming back. The difference is in my life is that my husband comes back and life continues the same - we both work, we have 1 holiday a year and I don't go away multiple times with girlfriends.

Rob and Lou go away EVERY school holiday - and no shade as we've said before - but don't come at me with your default parent bullshit.

It is not the same as if you are the partner of someone serving overseas or a long distance lorry driver or night-shift worker.

Its probably only relatable to footballers wives, wives of hedge fund managers and other women who don't have work because their husbands are very busy earning an ultra high salary living.

No way Rob's ego will be able to handle Josh landing one of the biggest TV jobs there is, I expect the "banter" and interrupting is going to be off the charts!!

Just seen that Lou is on Saturday Kitchen (with Rob) this weekend...
I honestly can’t believe this. Aren’t they embarrassed? It’s like bring your wife to work day. So she has to have Rob there while she talks about her book or no one will know who she is. Watch this space. 2 years and she’ll be on telly herself presenting something. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I never used to mind her but this book is really bad taste.

It pisses me off, the more famous you get the more you are given . Not just the Becketts, look at all the film stars and the ridiculous bags of goodies they get for attending events .

Josh never seems to have paid-for holidays does he.

Things like repeat free holidays should be donated to charity imo. The celeb can still endorse the company or holiday on their socials.

Rob said he hated trying new things & then when Josh just tried to say that’s what’s so different about them in a good way, because he always wants to try something new and challenging
Rob then got all defensive about how it’s actually because he does soooo many new things on Rob & Romesh - I’m surprised it was kept on it was an awkward listen
It was so awkward! It felt like it was bordering on nasty from Rob, almost undermining Josh for only doing Last Leg and the podcast.
Rob mentioned his work being "feast or famine" and then 2 minutes later Josh quoted it and Rob replied all defensively "let's not call my work famine" What?! You were the one that just said it!
I honestly don't know how Josh remains so patient and kind towards him
