I love Romesh too… I’d actually prefer Romesh and Josh and no Rob. Definitely no default parent, thank youI think Romesh is really funny so I’m okay with it . But i obviously would have preferred Josh ! And he loves the Traitors too … I wonder if he was also asked but turned it down .
so many comedians - Joe Lycett , James Acaster , Joanne McNally , Miranda Hart …..
I really hope it’s not this. I think he can be a tad annoying, but I think he’s a loyal mate.Call me cynical but is he commenting on any of the nice ones? Or just picking out the bad ones to show how many negative comments there are?![]()
Yeah to be fair I didnt really think Rob was any worse than usual but it was driving me mad that he couldn't get his school story out and it took 35 mins to get to the end of that story. I think it's one of those things that as soon as you notice him doing it, you can't unhear it and it gets right under your skin!I absolutely agree with this, it was so uncomfortable. He has no awareness at all, he interrupts Josh all the time and without fail turns the conversation to himself. How many times Josh tried to tell the story of being locked in the school and yet each time he was interrupted he has the social skills to engage with whatever rubbish Rob was spouting. It comes across as jealousy from Rob, he can't say anything complimentary to Josh, always making digs about anything he does. Driving me mad at the moment!
Yeah - when Rob was praising her “achievement” of being a bestselling author as something she did all on her own, completely failing to mention that none of it would have happened without being his wife. Also worth noting she never would have gotten her book deal if she wasn’t Rob Beckett’s wife . I haven’t read it and have no doubt she can write but it’s a really tough industry to crack into unless you already have an “in” . And she’s only a best seller because of her husband’s ready-made audience . She is incredibly privileged in a lot of respects !
Not saying it’s a bad thing and if my husband was famous I’d absolutely being using my privileges ! But I just think it’s the lack of acknowledging that and her whole woe is me act which rubs me up the wrong way .
But I’m pleased she reads here . Hopefully our feedback is getting passed on !![]()
Or Lou
I know bless him, I wanna hear about his daughter’s app or his son’s shiny shoesAnd poor Josh sometimes brings his little list of things that have happened or notes on topics to share … never gets a chance to. Can’t even talk about poor Beryl without Rob interjecting.
In fairness, no. If it’s anything like her ‘hilarious’ whiny and nasal voice notes, or if the premise is exactly what she said it is, then I couldn’t bare it. I also don’t want to line their pockets even more, for a book based on something that I fundamentally see as bullshit. She’s barely even the most engaged parent between the two of them, and gets tonnes of help from family and staff. I’m sure when he started out, things would have been tougher, but she clearly has a supportive family and has absolutely nothing to complain about now. Everyone has things that stress them and upset them, she should talk to a friend, family member, or one of the friends you go on all these many trips with. I don’t understand why whining from an ivory tower is ‘relatable’ or necessary, and where the absolute brass neck comes from.Have any of you actually read or listened to the book? I did the audiobook and I liked it. I don’t think she came across as complaining about the life Rob’s job affords them. He wasnt so successful when they first had kids and I found lots of the early years stuff really resonated. And I say this as a full time working mum of 2 toddlers who is the default parent
