I think Josh has said before that he just doesn’t use their names because Rob doesn’t, and it would be weird if he did

There are 2 pearls at my kids school, definitely not middle class. And I used to work with a Cassius, again he was DEFINITELY not middle class 😂

Edited to add. I think the context in which you first hear the name, makes you think that where it belongs. You first heard them as Josh’s kids. It if you heard a mother on a council estate shouting then you wouldn’t thing they were middle class. I have always thought pearl is a normal name as I have known a few growing up. Doesn’t seem remotely middle class to me.

Going back to Russell Kane I thought it was really not cool that he mentioned the Oedipus thing and his daughter wanting to exclude the mum. That's really too personal to be talking about in a public arena.
I wonder if Rob and Josh will find it harder to talk about their kids going forward?
My 8 year old doesn't like his own brother seeing a baby picture or video he would never be ok with me talking about him on a podcast.
I thought the Oedipus reference was an oddly sexual lens for Russell to be viewing his relationship with his own daughter. As a child, you can struggle with the want to be the centre of a parent’s world without wanting to be their partner!

I thought the Oedipus reference was pretty gross and extreme too, and a weirdly sexual lens for Russell to be seeing his relationship with his own young daughter through.

Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree ! I think they are typical middle class arty couple east London names - which is exactly what Josh and Rose are so it fits ! My husband works at a private school and those are the types of names he has there , there aren’t many kids with similar names at my son’s state primary ! :)

Cassius is posh but Pearl just screams old lady wearing an apron with her hair in rollers, smoking a fag! 😂

Pearl would definitely be middle class around here, but you'd probably find a few Cassius-es at the boxing gyms!

Jordan Banjo from Diversity also has a son called Cassius, his dad was a boxer & he’s a fan of boxing so maybe took inspiration from that! Wayne Rooney also has a son with that name, I don’t really think it’s a middle class name.

I think the name Cassius sounds proper chavvy. It would definitely be seeing as working class when I am. I know a few Pearls-not middle class.
But like someone said, if you’re only ever hearing those names from ‘posh’ folk then you will think they’re posh.
Cassius is a name round here that chavs would shout.

I find them a little bit jarring because for me they both conjure the Deep South in the US and Josh’s family is really not the same demographic 😂
